Objectives: The principal aim of this study was to identify whether the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scales (NSNS) could be used on cancer patients. Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out on cancer patients (n = 298). Results: We found that a majority of cancer patients were around 50 years old (hospitalized patients [HP]: 49.5 ± 14.9; chemotherapy outpatients [COP]: 49.4 ± 12.7), were female (HP: 74%; COP: 63.5%), and had received education at least up to elementary level (HP: 70%; COP: 80%). Breast cancer was the principal type of cancer (>34%) in both groups (HP and COP). The groups were comparable in age, sex distribution, place of origin, educational qualification, and type of cancer. Among HP, the experience and satisfaction scales of the NSNS showed good internal consistency (n = 235, α >0.9, r > 0.7), while among COP, only the satisfaction scale showed good internal consistency (n = 62, α = 1.00). Most patients’ perceptions (level of satisfaction) of hospitalization and chemotherapy services were positive (98% and 97%, respectively). Conclusion: An NSNS instrument specifically designed for ambulatory care cancer patients is necessary for it to be useful in assessing cancer patients' perception of nursing care. This will help improve the quality of care in Mexico. The presence of cancer by itself could modify the patients’ satisfaction level. Further large-scale studies are required to inves- tigate the patients’ perceptions of nursing care using the NSNS on different cancer patient groups. Keywords: Spanish satisfaction tool; hospital; patient satisfaction; oncology nursing; health care evaluation mechanisms.

Several mind body medicine interventions require an active participation of the practitioners. We intended to develop a questionnaire to operationalize and measure the “inner correspondence” of individuals practicing Yoga or Eurythmy Therapy. In an anonymous cross-sectional study we enrolled 501 individuals (61% yoga). Exploratory factor analysis (study 1) of the 12-item instrument (Cronbach's ) pointed to a 3-factor solution, with one major scale and good internal consistency () and two minor scales with weak internal consistency. To improve the quality of the main scale, we added 8 new items which were tested in a sample of 135 individuals (study 2: 71% Yoga). Factor analysis confirmed a 12-item single factor (), that is,Inner Correspondence/Peaceful Harmony with Practices(ICPH). The scale correlated strongly with mindfulness (FMI; ), moderately with life and patient satisfaction (BMLSS;rbetween .32 and .43), and weakly negative with symptom score (VAS; ). In conclusion, the scale ICPH was confirmed as a relevant tool to measure the inner correspondence and feelings of peacefulness with practices. It can be used in clinical studies to assess the efficacy of mind-body practices involving physical movements.

Background: Bereaved relatives are considered to be a vulnerable group and there is debate as to whether it is ethical to engage them in research at a time that can be difficult for them. Aim: We conducted a cross-sectional study using cognitive interviewing with the aim of exploring the acceptability of a mortality follow-back survey among bereaved relatives of recently deceased cancer patients to inform the development of a large-scale survey about end-of-life care. Results: Thirty-three next-of-kin of recently deceased cancer patients were invited to participate in a face-to-face interview, or to complete a postal questionnaire. At the end, they were asked about their views of engaging in the study. Nine bereaved relatives participated in a face-to-face interview and 11 completed the postal questionnaire. Eleven relatives reported it was helpful to take part in the study; of these, six did not consider it distressing, and five stated whilst it had been distressing it had been helpful. Thoughts about bringing back memories, altruism and therapeutic value emerged. Conclusions: We have new evidence that although engaging in follow-back surveys can evoke distress, many participants report it to be a positive experience. We therefore believe that this approach is acceptable when conducted sensitively.

Palabras clave: Satisfacción del Paciente; Mecanismos de Evaluación de la Atención de Salud; Fallo Renal CrónicoEstimation of quality of nursing care in patients subjected to hemodialysisAbstractObjective: To evaluate the quality of nursing care in a population of patients with hemodialysis treatment in the city of Bogotá. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, through the application of the Colombian adaptation of the Care-Q instrument that relates attitudes and nursing care activities that were evaluated by the patient through a Likert scale. The universe consisted of all the patients on hemodialysis who belong to a support group of chronic patients, reaching a limit of 100 patients summoned to whom the instrument was applied. Results: It was determined that between 60% and 85% of the population evaluated in a positive way the care provided by the nursing staff. Conclusions: A considerable percentage of satisfaction was found within the participating population, which is contrasted with what is evidenced in the literature where it is stated that the nurse is the most suitable professional for the care of this type of patients. It made evident the need to generate research aimed at the continuous evaluation of nursing care, because it facilitates the creation of actions for improvement in the management of care and allows working for the fulfillment of quality in health care. Background & Aim: Nursing presence is an essential element of nursing care. Since the perception of nursing presence is influenced by different factors depending on the culture within which patients receive nursing care, this study aimed to investigate Iranian patients' nursing presence with cancer. Methods & Materials: In this cross-sectional study, 130 cancer patients were selected by random sampling from an oncology teaching hospital. Data was collected by the Presence of Nursing Scale and analyzed by SPSS software. Results: The results showed that the mean score of nursing presence (in a range of 0 to 125) was 101.91±16.19. According to the results, the highest and lowest scores belonged to the items "I trusted in these nurses" and "These nurses met my spiritual needs" with a mean score of 4.38±0.81 and 3.68±1.16, respectively. Data analysis by Pearson correlation coefficient showed no significant correlation between the mean score of nursing presence and quantitative variables such as patients' age, length of stay in the hospital, and the number of hospitalization (p>0.05). Conclusion: Although the total score of nursing presence was high, improvements in some items such as fulfilling the spiritual needs of cancer patients seem necessary. Evaluation of nursing presence by valid measures, encouraging nurses to spend more time and interacting with their patients, and providing special courses on nursing presence could help nurses improve and implement oncology nursing.

ObjectivesTo translate and validate the Problem-Solving Decision-Making scale instrument into the Portuguese language.DesignCross-sectional study.Setting: participantsThe Problem-Solving Decision-Making scale was translated from English to Portuguese and then back-translated to obtain a final version. The questionnaire was then applied face-to-face from January to March 2019 in a representative sample of the Portuguese population (n=301 people aged 20 years or more) to validate the Problem-Solving Decision-Making scale in a Portuguese population.OutcomesPrincipal component analysis and Cronbach’s alpha.ResultsPrincipal component analysis was used to evaluate the validity of the internal structure of the scale. The results identified two components: problem-solving and decision-making with an explained variance of 65.9%. For internal consistency, three different techniques were used and applied to the two components. All of the items have very good internal consistency (problem-solving Cronbach’s alpha=0.931 and decision-making Cronbach’s alpha=0.951).ConclusionsThe validation of the Portuguese scale agreed well with the existing literature. The scale can be divided into two components: the problem-solving component and the decision-making component. The translated scale demonstrated good internal consistency and can therefore be used in future studies.

The aim of this study was to characterize psychometrically an instrument for measuring organizational climate for higher education institutions. The methodology refers us to a cross-sectional study, we obtained a total sample of 662 participants. Obtained a Cronbach alpha 0 = 0.91, which means a very good internal consistency of the test. In the inter item correlation analysis, which refers to another element of internal consistency, there were significant positive correlations (p = 0.01). Observed in the factor analysis, which measures the final test for 51.3% of the total variance explained in five factors. In general, it presents an instrument with adequate psychometric characteristics for measuring the organizational climate in higher education educations

A variety of practices have recently emerged which are related to both video games and gambling. Most prominent of these are loot boxes. However, a broad range of other activities have recently emerged which are also related to both gambling and video games: esports betting, real-money video gaming, token wagering, social casino play, and watching videos of both loot box opening and gambling on game streaming services like Twitch.Whilst a nascent body of research has established the robust existence of a relationship between loot box spending and both problem gambling and disordered gaming, little research exists which examines whether similar links may exist for the diverse practices outlined above. Furthermore, no research has thus far attempted to estimate the prevalence of these activities.A large-scale survey of a representative sample of UK adults (n=1081) was therefore conducted in order to investigate these issues. Engagement in all measured forms of gambling-like video game practices were significantly associated with both problem gambling and disordered gaming. An aggregate measure of engagement was associated with both these outcomes to a clinically significant degree (r=0.23 and r=0.43). Engagement in gambling-like video game practices appeared widespread, with a 95% confidence interval estimating that 16.3% – 20.9% of the population engaged in these activities at least once in the last year. Engagement in these practices was highly inter-correlated: Individuals who engaged in one practice were likely to engage in several more.Overall, these results suggest that the potential effects of the blurring of lines between video games and gambling should not primarily be understood to be due to the presence of loot boxes in video games. They suggest the existence of a convergent ecosystem of gambling-like video game practices, whose causal relationships with problem gambling and disordered gaming are currently unclear but must urgently be investigated.

Physical fitness is an indicator for children’s public health status. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the construct validity and the criterion-related validity of the German motor test (GMT) in Egyptian schoolchildren. A cross-sectional study was conducted with a total of 931 children aged 6 to 11 years (age: 9.1 ± 1.7 years) with 484 (52%) males and 447 (48%) females in grades one to five in Assiut city. The children’s physical fitness data were collected using GMT. GMT is designed to measure five health-related physical fitness components including speed, strength, coordination, endurance, and flexibility of children aged 6 to 18 years. The anthropometric data were collected based on three indicators: body height, body weight, and BMI. A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with IBM SPSS AMOS 26.0 using full-information maximum likelihood. The results indicated an adequate fit (χ2 = 112.3, df = 20; p < 0.01; CFI = 0.956; RMSEA = 0.07). The χ2-statistic showed significant results, and the values for CFI and RMSEA showed a good fit. All loadings of the manifest variables on the first-order latent factors as well as loadings of the first-order latent factors on the second-order superordinate factor were significant. The results also showed strong construct validity in the components of conditioning abilities and moderate construct validity in the components of coordinative abilities. GMT proved to be a valid method and could be widely used on large-scale studies for health-related fitness monitoring in the Egyptian population.
