International audience We generalize the brick polytope of V. Pilaud and F. Santos to spherical subword complexes for finite Coxeter groups. This construction provides polytopal realizations for a certain class of subword complexes containing all cluster complexes of finite types. For the latter, the brick polytopes turn out to coincide with the known realizations of generalized associahedra, thus opening new perspectives on these constructions. This new approach yields in particular the vertex description and a relevant Minkowski sum decomposition of generalized associahedra.

International audience We present a family of simplicial complexes called \emphmulti-cluster complexes. These complexes generalize the concept of cluster complexes, and extend the notion of multi-associahedra of types ${A}$ and ${B}$ to general finite Coxeter groups. We study combinatorial and geometric properties of these objects and, in particular, provide a simple combinatorial description of the compatibility relation among the set of almost positive roots in the cluster complex. Nous présentons une famille de complexes simpliciaux appelés \emphcomplexes des multi-amas. Ces complexes généralisent le concept de complexes des amas et étendent la notion de multi-associaèdre de type ${A}$ et ${B}$ aux groupes de Coxeter finis. Nous étudions des propriétés combinatoires et géométriques de ces objets et, en particulier nous fournissons une description combinatoire simple de la relation de compatibilité sur l'ensemble des racines presque positives du complexe des amas.

International audience Graph associahedra are polytopes realizing the nested complex N(G) on connected subgraphs of a graph G.While all known explicit constructions produce polytopes with the same normal fan, the great variety of fan realizationsof classical associahedra and the analogy between finite type cluster complexes and nested complexes incitedus to transpose S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky's construction of compatibility fans for generalized associahedra (2003)to graph associahedra. Using a compatibility degree, we construct one fan realization of N(G) for each of its facets.Specifying G to paths and cycles, we recover a construction by F. Santos for classical associahedra (2011) and extendF. Chapoton, S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky's construction (2002) for type B and C generalized associahedra.

Abstract Stringy canonical forms are a class of integrals that provide α′-deformations of the canonical form of any polytopes. For generalized associahedra of finite-type cluster algebras, there exist completely rigid stringy integrals, whose configuration spaces are the so-called binary geometries, and for classical types are associated with (generalized) scattering of particles and strings. In this paper, we propose a large class of rigid stringy canonical forms for another class of polytopes, generalized permutohedra, which also include associahedra and cyclohedra as special cases (type An and Bn generalized associahedra). Remarkably, we find that the configuration spaces of such integrals are also binary geometries, which were suspected to exist for generalized associahedra only. For any generalized permutohedron that can be written as Minkowski sum of coordinate simplices, we show that its rigid stringy integral factorizes into products of lower integrals for massless poles at finite α′, and the configuration space is binary although the u equations take a more general form than those “perfect” ones for cluster cases. Moreover, we provide an infinite class of examples obtained by degenerations of type An and Bn integrals, which have perfect u equations as well. Our results provide yet another family of generalizations of the usual string integral and moduli space, whose physical interpretations remain to be explored.

International audience We construct a poset from a simple acyclic digraph together with a valuation on its vertices, and we compute the values of its Möbius function. We show that the weak order on Coxeter groups $A$<sub>$n-1$</sub>, $B$<sub>$n$</sub>, $Ã$<sub>$n$</sub>, and the flag weak order on the wreath product &#8484;<sub>$r$</sub> &#8768; $S$<sub>$n$</sub> introduced by Adin, Brenti and Roichman (2012), are special instances of our construction. We conclude by briefly explaining how to use our work to define quasi-symmetric functions, with a special emphasis on the $A$<sub>$n-1$</sub> case, in which case we obtain the classical Stanley symmetric function. On construit une famille d’ensembles ordonnés à partir d’un graphe orienté, simple et acyclique munit d’une valuation sur ses sommets, puis on calcule les valeurs de leur fonction de Möbius respective. On montre que l’ordre faible sur les groupes de Coxeter $A$<sub>$n-1$</sub>, $B$<sub>$n$</sub>, $Ã$<sub>$n$</sub>, ainsi qu’une variante de l’ordre faible sur les produits en couronne &#8484;<sub>$r$</sub> &#8768; $S$<sub>$n$</sub> introduit par Adin, Brenti et Roichman (2012), sont des cas particuliers de cette construction. On conclura en expliquant brièvement comment ce travail peut-être utilisé pour définir des fonction quasi-symétriques, en insistant sur l’exemple de l’ordre faible sur $A$<sub>$n-1$</sub> où l’on obtient les séries de Stanley classiques.

International audience The main objects of noncrossing Catalan combinatorics associated to a finite Coxeter system are noncross- ing partitions, sortable elements, and cluster complexes. The first and the third of these have known Fuss–Catalan generalizations. We provide new viewpoints for these, introduce a corresponding generalization of sortable elements as elements in the positive Artin monoid, and show how this perspective ties together all three generalizations.

International audience The existence of crosscutting concerns tangled or scattered, complicates the understanding and evolution of object oriented source code. The industrial adoption of aspect-oriented paradigm has led to research new approaches supporting aspect oriented migration. This migration requires the identification of crosscutting concerns, in order to encapsulate them into aspects. We propose in this paper a new approach for the identification of crosscutting concerns at the conceptual level. We materialize this latter by the UML class and sequence diagrams. We use the formal concept analysis to group scattered functionalities in sequence diagrams, and we analyze the order of method calls to detect the tangled ones. Then, we filter all obtained candidate aspects, in order to avoid the mistakes.

Dedicated to the 60th birthday of Philippe Flajolet International audience Asymptotics of the variances of many cost measures in random digital search trees are often notoriously messy and involved to obtain. A new approach is proposed to facilitate such an analysis for several shape parameters on random symmetric digital search trees. Our approach starts from a more careful normalization at the level of Poisson generating functions, which then provides an asymptotically equivalent approximation to the variance in question. Several new ingredients are also introduced such as a combined use of the Laplace and Mellin transforms and a simple, mechanical technique for justifying the analytic de-Poissonization procedures involved. The methodology we develop can be easily adapted to many other problems with an underlying binomial distribution. In particular, the less expected and somewhat surprising n (logn)(2)-variance for certain notions of total path-length is also clarified.

International audience We prove that the noncrossing partition lattices associated with the complex reflection groups G(d, d, n) for d, n ≥ 2 admit a decomposition into saturated chains that are symmetric about the middle ranks. A consequence of this result is that these lattices have the strong Sperner property, which asserts that the cardinality of the union of the k largest antichains does not exceed the sum of the k largest ranks for all k ≤ n. Subsequently, we use a computer to complete the proof that any noncrossing partition lattice associated with a well-generated complex reflection group is strongly Sperner, thus affirmatively answering a special case of a question of D. Armstrong. This was previously established only for the Coxeter groups of type A and B.

International audience We present a generalization of the Tamari lattice to parabolic quotients of the symmetric group. More precisely, we generalize the notions of 231-avoiding permutations, noncrossing set partitions, and nonnesting set partitions to parabolic quotients, and show bijectively that these sets are equinumerous. Furthermore, the restriction of weak order on the parabolic quotient to the parabolic 231-avoiding permutations is a lattice quotient. Lastly, we suggest how to extend these constructions to all Coxeter groups. Nous présentons une généralisation du treillis de Tamari aux quotients paraboliques du groupe symétrique. Plus précisément, nous généralisons les notions de permutations qui évitent le motif 231, les partitions non-croisées, et les partitions non-emboîtées aux quotients paraboliques, et nous montrons de façon bijective que ces ensembles sont équipotents. En restreignant l’ordre faible du quotient parabolique aux permutations paraboliques qui évitent le motif 231, on obtient un quotient de treillis d’ordre faible. Enfin, nous suggérons comment étendre ces constructions à tous les groupes de Coxeter.

International audience We present complete simplicial fan realizations of any spherical subword complex of type $A_n$ for $n\leq 3$. This provides complete simplicial fan realizations of simplicial multi-associahedra $\Delta_{2k+4,k}$, whose facets are in correspondence with $k$-triangulations of a convex $(2k+4)$-gon. This solves the first open case of the problem of finding fan realizations where polytopality is not known. The techniques presented in this paper work for all finite Coxeter groups and we hope that they will be useful to construct fans realizing subword complexes in general. In particular, we present fan realizations of two previously unknown cases of subword complexes of type $A_4$, namely the multi-associahedra $\Delta_{9,2}$ and $\Delta_{11,3}$. Nous construisons des éventails simpliciaux complets ayant la combinatoire des complexes de sous-mots de type $A_n$ pour $n\leq 3$. Par conséquent, nous obtenons des constructions d’éventails des multi-associaèdres $\Delta_{2k+4,k}$, dont les facettes correspondent aux $k$-triangulations d’un $(2k+4)$-gone. Cette construction confirme l’existence d’éventails ayant la combinatoire du multi-associaèdres pour une famille dont la polytopalité n’est pas confirmée. Les techniques utilisées fonctionnent pour tous les groupes de Coxeter et nous espérons qu’elles seront utiles afin de construire des éventails réalisant les complexes de sous-mots en général. En particulier, nous présentons des éventails pour deux complexes de sous-mots de type $A_4$ dont l’existence était inconnue: les multi-associaèdres $\Delta_{9,2}$ et $\Delta_{11,3}$.
