Augmented reality applications in STEM education have increasing importance in recent years and it draws attention that scientific studies on this subject have gained momentum in the literature. The purpose of this research is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of studies on the use of augmented reality applications in STEM education in the literature. The Web of Science database has been used to collect the data. A total of 741 studies were accessed by going through various screening processes for the research. Content analysis and bibliometric analysis have been used in the analysis of the data. In the research, the distribution of publications by years and countries and the most published authors, journals, and countries were accessed. As a result of the research, in terms of the institutions with which the authors work, "National Taiwan University of Science Technology" ranked near the top for the number of citations and "National Taiwan Normal University" ranked near the top for the number of publications as the most productive institutions. It has been detected that "Wu, H. –K." and "Chang, H. –Y" are the most effective and productive researchers. According to the analysis conducted in the context of journals, "Computers Education" and "Interactive Learning Environments" have been the journals that contributed the most to this subject. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the co-authorship network structure is predominant in England and Spain. Concepts that become apparent in clusters in co-occurrences analysis are "augmented reality", "virtual reality", "mobile learning", "science education" and "mixed reality".

Purpose The growing competition between the developing halal market and the countries in halal market has enhanced the interest of researchers in this field in recent years. In this context, this study aims to examine the studies published in the international literature on halal tourism between 1975 and 2019 in terms of bibliometric characteristics and to reveal tendencies and trends of these publications within the framework of certain parameters. Design/methodology/approach In accordance with this purpose, the topic of “halal tourism” was searched in the database of “Web of Science Core Collection,” and bibliometrics data in regard to the publications were reached. Publications on halal tourism were examined in the context of years, numbers, genres, research fields, fields of study, journals in which they are found, the number of authors and page number of publications, research approaches of publications, themes of publications, country where the research data was collected (examined), names of the authors in the publications and publication numbers of the authors, and the number of citations. Findings In this paper, it was determined that the studies in the field of halal tourism increased in recent years. It was concluded that these studies were mainly carried out after 2011 and showed a large increase in 2016, the majority of the publications were in the form of study-paper and the average number of citations in the field was 3.1, and h-index number was seven. Research limitations/implications This paper is based on bibliometric analysis. Bibliometric analyses were performed on the “Web of Science Core Collection.” Because of database searches were made only on “Web of Science Core Collection,” the publications that were not scanned here could not be analyzed. Originality/value This paper examined the studies on halal tourism between 1975 and 2019 with a bibliometric analysis technique. Thus, it is aimed to learn more about halal tourism and to provide the researchers who work in this field with information about the structure of this field.

Background: Scopus is regularly covering Current Drug Metabolism from 2000 onwards. Objective: The major objective is to perform the 1st bibliometric analysis of Current Drug Metabolism (CDM). Methods: The data was retrieved from Scopus in April-May 2020 for detail analysis. Results: The total number of publications was found to be 1551, with 955 reviews (61.57%) and 466 articles (30.05%). From 2000 onwards, we calculated the relative growth rate and doubling time. Based on the number of publications, total 4418 authors, 3235 institutions and 83 countries were directly involved in all publications. M.A. Kamal is the highly productive scientist with fifty-three (53 or 3.73%) publications, King Abdulaziz University is the top university with the highest number of publications (58 or 4.13%) and the USA is the top-ranked country with 365 publications (25.96%). We also provided the h-index, total citations (TC), h-index without self-citations (WSC) and total WSC of the top ten authors, universities and countries. In citations analysis, Prof. Zhou S.F. was the top scientist with the highest (1594) number of citations. In institutional category Department of Drug Metabolism, Merck Research Laboratories, Rahway, United States, is the top ranked institutes with 654 total citations. While, United States is the top-ranked country with 18409 total citations. In co-words analysis, 3387, 30564 and 17333 terms in titles of the manuscripts, abstracts and keywords were recorded, respectively. This indicated that CDM principally focused on understanding drug development ranging from its efficacy to delivery, metabolism, distribution, safety and mechanism of actions. Similarly, various specific drugs were thoroughly discussed in publications. Various enzymatic, genetics, proteins and cancer-related aspects were also described. For data presentations, we used VOSviewer graphical maps. Conclusion: The data confirm that CDM showed continuous growth in the number of publications and citations. However significant measures are needed to make overall progress and improve the rankings in relevant categories.

Technology has been gradually introduced into our society, and the field of education is no exception due to technology’s ability to improve the teaching–learning process. Furthermore, within the area of physical education (PE), its importance has been highlighted by the existence of specific apps for physical activity that can be used inside and outside the classroom to assess physical condition, as well as through the potential that virtual and augmented reality can have in such assessment. Therefore, the main objectives for this study were (1) to perform a bibliometric analysis of the articles published in the Web of Science (WoS) on technology in PE and (2) to analyze the articles published on augmented or virtual reality in PE found through this search. The results show that although studies on technology in PE (461 articles) have begun to consolidate over the last five years (there was a turning point in 2015), with the USA being the most influential country in this area, specific research on the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) is still at a very early stage (22 articles with a small growth in 2017), with Spain being the most influential country; much more research is needed to achieve its consolidation.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between language and total number of citations found among documents in journals written in English and other languages. We selected all the journals clustered together in the Journal Citation Reports 2014 under the subject category “Veterinary Sciences” and downloaded all the data registered between 1994-2013 by Web of Science for the journals that stated publishing documents in languages other than English. We classified each of these journals by quartile and extracted information regarding their impact factor, language(s) stated, country of origin, total number of documents published, total number of reviews published, percentage of documents published in English and the quartile in which each journal ranked. Of the 48,118 documents published by the 28 journals analyzed, 55.8% were published in English. Interestingly, although most of the journals state being multi-language, most documents published in quartile 1 journals were in English (an average of 99.2%), while the percentage was 93.1% in quartile 2 journals, 62.1% in quartile 3 journals and 27.4% in quartile 4 journals. We also confirmed that citation distribution in these journals was highly skewed. The results of this study suggest that journals should consider adopting English as the main language as this will increase citation counts and the impact factor of the journal.

The article analyzes the changes in the bibliometric characteristics of the array of Russian publications reflected in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC database) in the field of physics in 2018, compared to the same characteristics in 2010. The main parameter to assess the quality (research level) of arrays with bibliometric point of view was “Comprehensive index of quality” (CIQ) for the array of publications, calculated on the basis of one of the parameters in “Method for calculating the qualitative indicator of the state task “the Comprehensive performance score publication”...”, used by the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation. It was found that with an almost twofold increase in the volume of the array, there was a slight decrease in its quality in terms of CIQ in 2018 in comparison with 2010. The author also compared the characteristics of the array of Russian publications in 2018 with similar ones of the arrays on physical publications in Germany, India and Great Britain, located close to Russia in the ranking by the number of publications included in the WoS array (in this ranking, Russia was on the fourth place in 2018). In the ranking based on the CIQ indicator, the arrays of these countries are significantly ahead of the Russian one, and our country is only on the sixth place. The main reasons for this lag in the Russian publications array are identified. They are: a lower percentage of Russian publications in high-quartile journals and a greater number of publications from conference proceedings. The conclusion is made about the applicability of bibliometric analysis to identify trends in publishing activities in the scientific field.

Scientific productivity of any academic institution is expressed by the total number of publications generated by its academic faculties and the use of the publication by scientific community. Citation analysis is done to evaluate the use of the publications. Use of the publication can be studied with the help of bibliometric analysis. As different means of information visualization become more popular and available both as commercial or open source products, there is an opportunity to use them in the education process by providing students with a larger variety of tools for mastering the required information and skills related to a learning object. The chapter discusses the use of various multimedia tools and edutainment (any entertaining application that has an educational role) in education and e-learning. The need and opportunities of applying 3D models, virtual and augmented reality, and certain means for controlling interactive learning environments are described in detail. Examples of 3D modeling, virtual, and augmented reality applications in history, arts, and medicine (surgery) education are provided.

The objective of this chapter is to provide an overview of research in the convergence of environmental education and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (E-STEM) education models through a values-based framework for nature. An argument for the interconnectedness of environmental education and STEM programs is presented. A further argument presented that nature-based learning environments engage children in E-STEM. Lastly, an exploration of research suggests how various pedagogical practices incorporate and facilitate the E-STEM paradigm to prepare young children for 21st century workforce that can solve large, complex problems in an information and service-based economy.

The effect of one of the most popular 3D visualization and modelling technologies with haptic and touch feedback possibilities—augmented reality (AR)—is analysed herein. That includes a specific solution, incorporating augmented reality. A case study for delivering STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) content using this tool at one secondary school in Sofia is presented. The experience gained in one school year of using facilities for a STEM enrichment program has been examined.

Abstract Background: Coronaviruses have emerged from animal reservoirs over the past decades to create severe illness and death. They are the SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and more recently, the SARS-CoV2. This study is focused at assessing the characteristics of published works involving SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV at global level; using bibliometric analysis.Methods: Peer-reviewed publications were retrieved from the Scopus database between 2012 and 2019. Data were analyzed in terms of the year, journal and number of publications, international collaboration patterns, research institutes, impact factor, h-index and number of times cited. Visual presentation and analysis of the data were performed using RStudio, Tableau and Microsoft Excel.Results: A total of 1707 research publications were published across the world between 2012 and 2019 with the highest and lowest number of publications in 2016 (288) and 2012 (87). USA had 249 articles, followed by South Korea (186) and Saudi Arabia (111). The total number of citations achieved was 39,094 with Journal of Virology (133) had the highest number of published articles, followed by Emerging Infectious Disease (85) and PLOS One (60).Conclusion: This research showed the international diversity of MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV research with 106 countries. It is also not surprising that United States leads in the number of publications, authors and citations because of its global power and economic strength; this can also be said with the other top countries. Saudi Arabia was among the top rank because of the origination of the MERS-CoV in the middle east.
