With an insight into the theoretical determinants of the children’s novel and the theme of the family in the Croatian children’s novel, the paper presents the importance and role of the family in the literary trilogy Golden Days (Zlatni danci), written by one of the founders of Croatian children’s realistic prose, Jagoda Truhelka. The aim of the paper is through analysis of the available scientific sources and literary texts to present the literary motifs present in describing the image of the family in the literary trilogy Golden Days (Zlatni danci). Jagoda Truhelka introduces readers to her idyllic childhood, which is characterized by family harmony, the Christian spirit in raising children, patriotism and the interdependence of children and parents. These are the values on which, as constituent components, the analysis of the image of the family in Truhelka’s children’s novels, presented in the paper, is based. The literary trilogy Golden Days (Zlatni danci) depicts a tightly structured, homogeneous family in which the father-teacher played a major role. Religious principles were a guide in the upbringing of children, based on Christian principles also present in the descriptions of religious holidays and customs. Nurturing patriotism is evident in everyday storytelling and children’s games, with the father once again being the one who played the most important role in it. Child and parental interdependence are present in the constant care of family members for each other, especially in moments of children getting into trouble in situations where parents were not present. Growing up in Jagoda Truhelka’s family was happy because it gave the children what every child deserves: love, attention, feelings of security, belonging, tenderness and respect. The image of such a family, presented in the literary trilogy Golden Days (Zlatni danci), certainly still contributes to the upbringing of today’s children.

Every family wants harmony in the family. Awareness of the role and function of accepting circumstances and existence is a very strong foundation in running a household. In realizing a harmonious household, of course there are problems that must be resolved immediately so that family harmony is maintained and realized. The family has an important role in the success of the child, remembering that most of the time in the child's daily life with the family, the family is the first community for the child to interact. But in this digital era, many people of all ages have really changed. Changing to be fast paced, but also decreasing the harmony that has been established in the family, this can be seen by the reduced love, cooperation and sharing in the family because they are busy with their respective activities, especially when dealing with gadgets so that harmony in the family is reduced. The role of school counselors is indispensable in forming empathy for family members to achieve household harmony by using family counseling, which is used as an intervention process for problems that interfere with family harmony. Family counseling seeks to build closer bonds, individuals who are able to control emotions, and families who always have good communication in realizing family harmony.

Dramatic and theatrical performances have a long history of being used as tools to enhance development in children and youth. In pre-colonial times there were some forms of drama and theatre used by different communities in the socialisation of children. It is in the same vein that this article, through the Intwasa koBulawayo performances, seeks to evaluate how drama and theatre are used to nurture children and youth into different developmental facets of their lives. The only difference which this article will take into cognisance is that the performances are done in a different environment, which is not the one used in the pre-colonial times. Although these performances were like this, the most important factor is the idea that children and youth are socialised through these performances. It is also against this backdrop that children and youth are growing up in a globalised environment, hence the performances should accommodate people from all walks of life and teach them relevant issues pertaining to life as they live it now. Thus the main task of the article is to spell out the role of drama and theatre in the nurturing of children and youth through socio economic and political development in Intwasa koBulawayo festivals.

The article reveals the measures undertaken by the Soviet state during the “thaw” in the fi eld of reproductive behaviour, the protection of motherhood and childhood. Compilations, manuals and magazines intended for women were the most important regulators of behaviour, determining acceptable norms and rules. Materials from sources of personal origin and oral history make it possible to clearly demonstrate the real feelings of women. The study of women’s everyday and daily life in the aspect related to pregnancy planning, bearing and raising children will allow us to compare the real situation and the course of implementation of tasks in the fi eld of maternal and child health. The demographic surge in the conditions of the economy reviving after the war, the lack of preschool institutions, as well as the low material wealth of most families, forced women to adapt to the situation. In the conditions of combining the roles of mother, wife and female worker, women entrusted themselves with almost overwork, which affected the health and well-being of the family. The procedure for legalising abortion gave women not only the right to decide the issue of motherhood themselves, but also made open the already necessary, but harmful to health, habitual way of birth control. Maternal care in diffi cult material and housing conditions became the concern of women and the older generation, who helped young women to combine the role of a working mother, which the country’s leadership confi dently assigned to women.

This article discusses the role of the family in the social development of children with special needs in an inclusive educational environment, in connection with which the study addresses a new aspect of the interaction between the teacher and the child’s family, the interaction of the teacher (teacher) and parents of children with developmental disabilities is highlighted in a variety of areas, students in secondary schools or attending kindergartens. The purpose of the study is to assess the role of the family in the adaptation of children with developmental disabilities, studying in secondary schools or attending kindergartens. To achieve this goal, the author defines a range of research tasks: to study the historical and philosophical foundations of the role of the family in raising children with special needs; highlight the role of the family in implementing early intervention programs in secondary schools; substantiate the main stages that any school must go through, striving to create a more fruitful relationship between the school, family and community. The author stated the following results as a scientific novelty: general recommendations have been developed so that parents feel confident, competent and can work more productively together with teachers (educators) when children visit kindergarten groups (classes). As a result of the study, the author came to the conclusion that the process of teaching children with special needs in a comprehensive school is most effective in the interaction of the teacher and the family of the child.

BACKGROUND: The impact of paediatric upper limb difference may extend beyond the child themselves to their parents and other family members. Previous research has found that feelings of shock, numbness and loss are common amongst parents and that peer support can be a buffer against stress. OBJECTIVE: The current study aimed to explore the experiences of parents of children with limb difference, and the role of services and prosthetic devices in these experiences. METHODS: Nine parents of children with limb difference participated in either a group (n= 2) or individual (n= 7) interview. RESULTS: Analysis of the interview transcripts revealed four themes – ‘grief and guilt’, ‘prosthesis as a tool for parental adjustment’, ‘support’ and ‘fun and humour’. CONCLUSIONS: Parents may employ coping strategies to help them adjust to their child’s limb difference, including use of a prosthesis, accessing support from statutory services and peers, and use of fun and humour within the family.

The pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD) is complex, and at present a unified concept of the development of the disease has not been formed. At the heart of pathogenesis, there is a complex interaction of numerous factors, such as genetic predisposition, dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system and the epidermal barrier. Previously, it has been proven that a high microbial contamination of the affected areas helps to maintain inflammation and aggravates skin dysfunction as a result of chronic inflammation, and favorable factors appear for the attachment of a secondary infection. However, little attention has been paid to dysfunctions of the epidermal barrier, the role of violations of the quantitative and qualitative composition of the microbiota in the development of AD, and this issue remains relevant at the present time. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of the carrier of bacteria on the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract in family members on the course of atopic dermatitis in a child. A bacteriological examination of the mucous membranes of the nose and throat was carried out in 34 children with AD and members of their families (74 people). When examining the mucous membranes of the nose and throat in family members of children with AD, it was found that the microflora isolated from family members in more than half of the cases has an increased potential for pathogenicity with a high degree of contamination (CFU lg 3), which forms an increased bacteriological load on the child. The tendency of bacterial carriage was revealed, contributing to the formation in the family of a permanent persistence of microflora with a high potential for pathogenicity. Asymptomatic carriage of bacteria forms an additional epidemiological load on the child, affects the severity of AD and is a risk factor in the development of secondary infection of the skin.

Introduction: Families have an important role in the successful treatment of people with pulmonary tuberculosis. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the role of the family as a caregiver in caring for family members suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis.Methods: The phenomenological qualitative design was chosen to obtain in-depth information by interviewing thirteen family members who cared for pulmonary tuberculosis patients determined through a purposive technique. Results: The content of Collaizi's analysis produced five themes, namely: 1) Nonpharmacological therapy is given by the family to treat symptomatic pulmonary tuberculosis 2) Efforts to cut transmission was carried out by the family to prevent transmission of disease, 3) Nutrition support provided by families in treating patients, 4) Instrumental support given by families in caring for pulmonary tuberculosis patients, 5) Emotional support given by families in treating pulmonary tuberculosis sufferers.Conclusion: The family provides physical and psychological care to support the successful treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. A program is recommended to increase family knowledge in caring for family members suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis. Words are sorted alphabetically.

The pressure of family identity and politics affected more than one generation of Burneys. Beyond Frances Burney, and her intense relationship with her father Charles Burney, were other family members who also felt the pressure to “write & read & be literary.” These tendencies can be seen most clearly in the works of juvenilia preserved in the family archive. A commonplace book bound in vellum has been discovered that preserves more than one hundred poems, mostly original compositions written by family and friends. The activity of commonplacing reflects a community in which reading and writing are valued. Collected by the youngest sister of Frances Burney, they seem to have been copied after she married. The juvenile writings of her nieces and nephews preponderate, whose talents were encouraged, as they give versified expression to their deepest feelings and fears. Literary influences of the Romantic poets can be traced, as the young authors define themselves in relation to these materials. Reflecting a kind of self-fashioning, the commonplace book helps these young writers explore their sense of family identity through literary form. This compilation represents a collective expression of authorship which can inform us about reading and writing practices of women and their families in the eighteenth century.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the role of the social network configured by the family/companion and their implications for their stay during the hospitalization of the child in the pediatric hospitalization unit. Method: Qualitative study with ten family members/companions of hospitalized children. Data collection was done through the technique of individual interview, which occurred in the period from February to December 2015. The analysis was thematic, in light of the theoretical reference of "Social Networks" described by Lia Sanicola. Results and discussion: The main role of the social network was emotional and material support, and the main components of this network were: companion, mother, aunt and daughter, as well as nursing team, physician and other family members/companions. Final considerations and implications for the practice: It was verified that the totality of the interviewees was female, however, the husband was the most important member of the social network for the family members involved, since they perform the material/financial and emotional function. In addition, the participants consider that they are responsible for all care to the family and, in the condition in that they are, they understand it as a favor provided by the other members of the network. Identifying the composition of the social networks of family members/companions provides a better targeting of care in order to strengthen the social support received.
