Background and aim: Due to the pandemic, all courses and exams in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department continue through online training. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the online practical courses and exams from the point of view of the students of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department. Materials and methods: Two hundred volunteers who are 2nd and 3rd year students taking practical vocational courses online at Pamukkale University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year were included in the study. Students who accepted to participate in the study were sent an evaluation form prepared via Google Forms and asked to fill it out online. The level of satisfaction with the online method of teaching applied courses was evaluated using the Satisfaction Scale for E-Course (SSEC) and the online method of conducting the exams using the E-Assessment Attitude Scale (EAAS). Results: A total of 200 students (145 female, 55 male) with a mean age of 21.36±2.70 years were included in the study. 43.5% (n=87) of the students were second-year students and 56.5% (n=113) were third-year students. 79% (n=158) of the students stated that face-to-face education is better than distance education, 17.5% (n=35) stated that distance education is sufficient and 3.5% (n=7) stated that face-to-face education is stated that there was no difference between the mean total score of the second graders on SSEC was 112.80±31.73, and the total score on EAAS was 67.36±13.72. The mean total score of SSEC of the third graders was 100.46±26.76, and the total score of EAAS was 66.60±11.69. While the second-year students' level of satisfaction was higher (p=0.004), their views on exams were similar (p=0.677). A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the students' level of satisfaction with the course and their perspectives on the exams (p=0.001; r=0.369). Conclusion: Although the course materials are rich during distance education in the 3rd grade, where the application-oriented courses are more intense, the level of satisfaction with the courses is lower since the students do not have the opportunity to practice one-on-one. In order to eliminate these deficiencies of the students, concentrated practical trainings can be applied in small groups under pandemic conditions.

"The Philippine’s Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is mandated to take appropriate steps to ensure that education shall be accessible to all. In times where classes were disrupted due to health emergency and community lockdown imposed, the commission handed down Memorandum Order No. 4. Series of 2020, which directed Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to use flexible platform for academic track to better facilitate learning scheme. The sudden paradigm shin lends students to grapple in the new way of teaching and learning process. The underlying circumstance leads to determining the Academic Learning Process between face-to-face and online class of Medical Technology students during the time of contagion. This descriptive-comparative study verified the learning process between online class and face-to face strategic learning. There were fourty six (46) 3rd Year and 4th Year Medical Technology students of World Citi Colleges who assessed the two learning processes based on class preparation, absorbing and capturing new information, and reviewing of course materials. Results revealed that majority of the respondents are in the age bracket of 22-25 and mostly female students. In terms of year level, there is an equal distribution of 3rd year and 4th year Medical Technology students. It is also observed that majority of the respondents experienced a half semester of online class and are highly prepared for face-to-face class but are moderately prepared for online class. The level of preparedness for face-to-face class is greater than the level of preparedness for online class. In terms of academic learning process, the respondents have high ability to absorb new information in face-to-face class but with moderate ability compared to online class. The mean score of the level of capturing new information in face-to-face class is greater than the mean score in online class. However, the respondents have high ability to capture new information in both modes of learning. Relatively, scores on capturing new information in online class are more dispersed than scores for face-to-face class. Additionally, as to reviewing course materials, respondents have moderate ability in reviewing course materials in online class. The mean score for the level of reviewing in face-to-face class is greater than the mean score in online class. Based on the results of independent samples t-test, the researchers concluded that there is no significant difference in the academic learning process between the face-to-face and online class of 3rd and 4th-year Medical Technology students during pandemic."

The coronavirus emerging in China has rapidly become a global epidemic. Many sanctions come to the fore to prevent the spread of the epidemic. One of them is that people stay at home and do not leave the house unless it is necessary. This necessity has affected the education system as in all areas of life. Universities have switched to the distance education system. Unfortunately, many universities do not have sufficient infrastructure or resources to facilitate instantly effective online teaching. In this study, it was aimed to determine the problems faced by the graphic design department students during the distance education process conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic period, their opinions on distance education and their job anxiety levels. This study is important in terms of determining the level of job anxiety faced by graphic designer candidates during their education, taking necessary precautions, supporting them in eliminating these concerns, raising their awareness on the subject and making determinations to reduce job anxiety. It is important to know the thoughts of students towards distance education especially during the pandemic period in order to increase the quality of education. The sample of the research consists of students studying in the field of graphic design in the 2020-2021 academic year in Turkey. The stratified sampling method was used in sample selection. Distance Education Attitude Scale and Job Anxiety Scale were used in the study. The sampling was carried out with the voluntary participation. Research data were collected from Google Forms through a questionnaire consists of personal information and the scales. SPSS 21 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) statistical software was used for data analysis. The relationship between job anxiety level and distance education satisfaction level is seen that there is almost zero and statistically insignificant. The anxiety score for this group of students is above the average and reasons should be analyze in great detail. On the other hand, distance education attitude score is below the average. The reasons would be related to being unprepared to this period. The most important factor in the occurrence of this situation is being caught unprepared for this process. While job anxiety differed in the level of satisfaction with the program, the distance education attitude differed in the education level of the mother, the education level of the father, grades and the level of satisfaction with the program. Although the relationship between the two scales was not significant in the study, it was observed that the distance education limitation factor was in a negative but weak and significant relationship between all factors of the job anxiety scale.

In the fight against the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, countries have replaced traditional face-to-face education with distance education as a defense tool. Distance education is not only education and training but also is related to individuals. In today's world, where we are faced with a new development, the conveniences provided by distance education technologies have been used in all areas of education. Therefore, technological developments cause changes in all areas of education systems. These changes affect the quality and functions of art education directly and indirectly. In this study, visual arts teachers’ attitudes towards distance teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic were investigated. For this purpose, the attitudes towards distance education were examined by gender, age and school type variables. The study, which was carried out in the survey model, was carried out with 165 visual arts teachers working in public and private secondary and high schools in Konya, Aksaray, Karaman and Niğde provinces. Distance education attitude scale was used to collect the research data. Findings revealed that visual arts teachers’ attitudes towards distance education were generally negative. In addition, the participating teachers’ attitudes towards distance education differed based on the school type, gender and age variables.

Given the increased globalization and 24/7 business operations, can we reasonably expect to rely on etraining to address a forecasted worldwide shortage of skilled workers? To answer this question, we will examine the key supply and demand determinants of the global worker shortage and analyze the critical systematic requirements that tend to favor the use of asymmetric, interactive, e-training technologies. Recent meta-studies of distance education conclude that distance education delivery is both cost-effective and is superior to face-to-face instruction, when controlling for several important intervening variables. Further, such studies conclude that when organized, systematic student discussions are employed the benefits are substantially enhanced. Give some of these identified benefits, can Internet technologies be used to somehow enable learning/training to take place, across different cultures and languages, as opposed to traditional training/educational systems which use “live” trainers/teachers in this process? To address this proposition, we will expand the discussion of tutored video instruction (TVI) by reviewing the recent research on some alternatives, regardless of whether the students taking the course are discussing the course materials at the same time

Purpose Although studies on student residential satisfaction abound, yet there are limited studies conducted on students’ satisfaction in respect of hostel accommodation facilities undertaken through public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Nigeria. The purpose of this study is to assess the level of students’ satisfaction with the provision of university hostel accommodation facility using build-operate-transfer (BOT) model at University of Lagos (Unilag), Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted literature review and questionnaire survey within the case study of a BOT hostel accommodation facility at Unilag in Nigeria. The students who reside at the case study were the respondents. Hence, 153 self-administered questionnaires were purposively distributed face-to-face to the entire student population that live in the BOT hostel. Thus, a total of 96 completed questionnaires representing 63 per cent were collected and found suitable for the analysis. The data collected were analysed using the mean score and chi-square (χ2) test. Findings The study revealed a total mean satisfaction level of 3.46 (on a 5-point Likert scale), which indicates that students are “somehow satisfied” with the university hostel accommodation facility undertaken through BOT. The study further established that age and level of students have no significant influence on the overall students’ satisfaction with their hostel accommodation facility undertaken through BOT. Practical implications The study would provide valuable feedback to private investors, university authorities and facility managers of higher education institutions to improve their services in the near future. Originality/value The identified variables that have tested to be significant in assessing students’ level of satisfaction in BOT hostel accommodation facilities could be used to assess users’ satisfaction in similar facilities delivered through PPPs in other countries.

Abstract Background This study evaluated the effectiveness of online histopathology teaching in medical education during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Second-year medical students (n = 150) who had previously completed one year of face-to-face histopathology teaching, completed an online questionnaire rating their learning experiences before and during the COVID-19 pandemic after the completion of their histology and pathology practical sessions. The students' histopathology assessment results were then compared to the histopathology results of a prior second-year cohort to determine if the switch to online histopathology teaching had an impact on students' learning outcome. Results A thematic analysis of the qualitative comments strongly indicated that online histopathology teaching was instrumental, more comfortable to engage in and better structured compared to face-to-face teaching. Compared to the previous year's practical assessment, the mean overall mark was significantly improved from 65.36% ± 13.12–75.83% ± 14.84% (p < 0.05) during the COVID-19 impacted online teaching period. Conclusions The transformation of teaching methods during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic improved student engagement and positive learning outcomes in histology and pathology education.

Abstract Background When patients fitted with pacemakers have to attend arrhythmia appointments, this often reduces their independence and involves their caregivers having to take time off work, along with an increase in spending on healthcare transport. Purpose We describe the impact of remote monitoring of pacemaker implemented by our Arrhythmia Unit in our patient's live and the reduction in social, occupational and financial impact on these patients. Methods Prospective observational study including 160 patients on the remote monitoring pacemaker programme between January 2016 and January 2017. We handed a satisfaction survey to these patients after the face-to-face monitoring appointment, which analysed variables such as waiting time, attention and treatment received, need for accompaniment of a relative, method of travel and kilometres travelled, level of satisfaction with the remote monitoring system, proposals for improvement, etc. Results The patients spent a median of 60±30 minutes on the remote monitoring, with a distance travelled of 1.4±4.9 km, rating their level of satisfaction at the remote monitoring as excellent (35%), good (61%) and average (3%) (Figure 1). In the face-to-face appointment, most of them were accompanied (86%) and arrived by private car (66%), with 54% of family members needing to take time off work. 19.4% of patients arrived by ambulance and 8.8% by bus. The median time spent was 150±120 minutes, and the distance travelled was 63±105 km. Conclusions The remote monitoring pacemaker programme in our health district has a very positive healthcare and social-occupational impact, which is manifested both from an objective point of view (greater independence, less time spent per appointment, less distance travelled, fewer healthcare transport needs and less workplace absenteeism by family members, etc.) and a subjective point of view (lower impact of appointments on patients' lives and greater perception of satisfaction from the patients and their companions). This article aims to identify the main advantages and disadvantages of distance education for both students and the educational enterprise. The methodological procedure chosen was an exploratory case study aiming at an analysis of how effective this modality can be in relation to other traditional forms of teaching. In the course of the research it was possible to identify that the main advantage for the institution is the increase in the number of students attended. From the student's point of view, the main advantage is the flexibility offered by distance learning courses. It is possible that the distance modality continues to grow steadily, but it still seems utopian to say that at some point in the history of education, face-to-face teaching will become obsolete and thus be totally replaced by EAD. Not all students have the profile required to enter a distance learning course.

Abstract. A meta-analysis was performed to determine whether response rates to online psychology surveys have decreased over time and the effect of specific design characteristics (contact mode, burden of participation, and incentives) on response rates. The meta-analysis is restricted to samples of adults with depression or general anxiety disorder. Time and study design effects are tested using mixed-effects meta-regressions as implemented in the metafor package in R. The mean response rate of the 20 studies fulfilling our meta-analytic inclusion criteria is approximately 43%. Response rates are lower in more recently conducted surveys and in surveys employing longer questionnaires. Furthermore, we found that personal invitations, for example, via telephone or face-to-face contacts, yielded higher response rates compared to e-mail invitations. As predicted by sensitivity reinforcement theory, no effect of incentives on survey participation in this specific group (scoring high on neuroticism) could be observed.
