This study was aimed to develop humanitarian project-based material for productive written language skills subject for English Education Study Program at UNIMED. Research and Development (R&D) was the design of this study with the subjects of the study were 25 students of first semester students of English Education Study Program at UNIMED. The research procedures were adapted from Borg and Gall’s research theory (1983) namely 1)gathering data and information, 2)need analysis, 3)designing course material, 4)validating and evaluating new course material by the Experts, 5)revising the course material and 6)final product. The instruments of collecting the data were questionnaire, interview and expert judgement questionnaire. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.. Based on the result of the expert judgement, the whole aspects of developed materials were in the range of 81-100% and were categorized as “very good”.

 AbstractListening is one of compulsory subjects for the students of English education study program of STKIP Siliwangi Bandung. It is taught at the first semester as a basic for the students to enhance others skills, such as speaking, reading, and writing. In fact, the students face problems in learning listening and it makes the objectives of learning do not achieve well. So, this research is aimed at creating listening course book to help the students learn effectively. This research focuses on listening for general communication. The research employed Research and Development. This method is divided into three parts; introductional study covers need analysis, literature review, proposal arrangements, and prototype;product developmentcovers materials arrangement and course book arrangement;and testinginvolves validation from expert, and revision. The subject of the research is the first semester students of English education study program of STKIP Siliwangi Bandung. The instruments used were interview and questionnaire. Interview was conducted to gather the data related with the themes used in the course book in every unit. There were six themes obtained through the interview. Then the themes chosen were developed based on the material guideline composed by the researcher in the previous research which cover macro and micro skill. Next is validation by three experts using questionaire. The revison covered the content, display and language, then the test was re-taken to gather the feasible of the coursebook. From the computation, the mean score of content hit the precentage of 79.17, while display was 77.78 and language was 77.5. from the resut, the researchers could assume that the course book was feasible and ready to use in teaching and learning of Listening for General Communication. Key words: listening for general communication, course book. This research aimed to find out the students’ access to ICT application and how far ICT application helps students in mastering English language skills faced by English students of English Education Study Program at the University of Bengkulu in the 2020/2021 academic year. This research was an explanatory sequential mixed methods design. The population of this research was English students of English Education Study Program at the University of Bengkulu. The sample of this research was selected by using purposive sampling technique, totaling 80 students for questionnaire and 24 students for interview. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. The instruments were consisted of 15 items adapted from Dang Hoang Tri and Nhung Hong Thi Nguyen (2014). This research used Microsoft Excel to analyze the data.  The result of this study showed that students access 15 ICT applications in English learning. Also, researcher found that the majority of students have positive perception towards ICT application can help students in mastering English language skills.

This study aims to determine the students’ speaking skill before and after applying Guessing Game and find out the effect of Guessing Game on the students’ speaking skill at the first semester of English education study program of STAIN Bengkalis. This research is experimental research that involved 18 students at the first semester of English Education Study Program of STAIN Bengkalis. Speaking test was implemented in order to collect the students’ speaking performance, and the collected data were quantitatively analyzed. Guessing Game has a less significant effect in improving the students’ speaking skill at the first semester of English education study program of STAIN Bengkalis. This is evidenced by the results of t-o (1,3) smaller than t-table.

<p>The study is intended to develop Writing III Course materials using graphic organizers for the fourth-semester students of English Education Study Program of IAIN Palangka Raya. The Research and Development (R &amp; D) design was employed in this study. It included the stages:  need analysis, description of the purpose, selection and development of material type, production of proto-material, production of pedagogical material, expert validation, field testing (trying-out), evaluation and revision (evaluation from try-out and the expert, and final product. The final product of this study was the instructional materials (six units for nine meetings) covering introduction to the essay (unit 1 for meetings 1-4), the illustration essay (unit 2 for meeting 5), the classification essay (unit 3 for meeting 6), the process essay (unit 4 for meeting 7), the comparison contrast essay (unit 5 for meeting 8), and the cause and effect (unit 6 for meeting 9). Each unit consisted of learning objective, topic, sub-topic, description, relevancy, and keywords. The materials serve for appropriate topics, clear models, stimulating learning, relevant activities, clear example, graphic organizers, and providing strategies.</p><em></em>

Textbooks are one of the important components in language program. It plays significant roles to provide the basis for content of the lesson, the balance of skills taught and the kinds of language practice that students involve in (Richards, 2001). Due to this circumstance, the use of qualified and relevant textbook is highly required to facilitate learning and bring actual learning experience to students. In addition to the selection, the evaluation of the textbooks in EFL context are also at the utmost importance to evaluate whether a particular textbook used in the classroom is a good textbook or not. This study was aimed to evaluate the suitability of the Survival English textbook based on the Content and Contexts criteria of a good English textbook, which proposed by Mukundan (2011), Mukundan et al (2012) and Miekley (2015). The list of statements in a form of questionnaire were addressed to identify 50 students’ assessment of six topics being discussed in the textbook, which was supported by the qualitative data from the interview session. The results of the study were found substantial as the input to develop further Survival English textbook

ABSTRACTDetermining the implementation of the assessment and evaluation being used in Foundation of Listening Subject Lecturer become the objective of this study. It is conducted to the Foundation of Listening Subject lecturer in first semester of English Education Study Program, School of Education, Pakuan University, Bogor Indonesia. Qualitative approach and Descriptive are used as method. Observation, questionnaire and interview are utilized for data collection. This research was conducted to investigate and understand pronunciation problems, which is the sub-skill of speaking in the first semester students of the UPR FKIP English Education Study Program through contrastive analysis. The purpose of this study was to analyze pronunciation errors in English words and the causes of the errors made by students who were the research subjects. The design used in this study to present the data is descriptive qualitative. The results of data analysis were classified into consonant errors (consonants), vowels (vowels), and vowels (diphthongs) and the causes why these errors occured. Based on the results of data analysis, the English segmental sounds that were difficult to pronounce by students of the English Education Study Program semester I in the academic year 2020/2021 were (1) long vowels or tense vowels (i:, u:, ?:, ?:, ?:]; (2) short vowels soundor lax vowels low vowel sound [æ], and neutral vowel (schwa) [?]; (3) the sound of diphthongs (double vowels), namely rising diphthongs [??] and falling diphthongs [??], [e?], and [??]; and (4) fricative consonant sounds [f, v, z, ?, ð, ?, ?]. The causes of difficulty in learning pronunciation of English segmental sounds are (1) differences in Indonesian and English sound systems and (2) lack of knowledge of the English sound system.

This research based on the important of the student’s critical thinking for general students. Critical thinking is very important in daily life. Because , students are required to have the ability to choose and sort the information that is good and true. This research to identify how far debate can effect student’s critical thinking. This research was classroom action research it consist of two cycle, each cycle consist of three meetings. The data had been taken from each cycle then the average is compared. If there is an enhance in this research it means the research is successful. But if there is no enhance in this research it means the research is failed. This research is conducted in Islamic University Of Assyafi’iyah, It was located in Jatiwaringin street. This research was involved the first Semester English Education Study Program was consist of 34 college students and they were as subjects of this research. This research was considered successful by researchers because there was a significant improvement from cycle one to cycle two, which 62,87 to 70,37. The results of this research help teachers to enhance students’ critical thinking through debate technique.

This research investigates freshmen’s perception on inductive approach through PPP phase in their first speaking class. The researcher tries to integrate the previous students learning experience that were accustomed to the deductive approach with the inductive approach as the solution by implementing the PPP phase. The research is based on qualitative approach with descriptive method. 38 first semester students from English Education Study Program of teacher Training and Education Faculty, Universitas Mathla’ul Anwar Banten were assigned as participants. Questionnaire was evaluated to get insight about freshmen’s perception on Inductive Approach through PPP phase in their first speaking class. As a result, the study reveals that the student's response to all aspects of learning get a high response, 83.11% for inductive approach, 95.39% for PPP phase, and 100% for speaking activity. As the final remark, this means that students give a positive response on inductive approach through PPP phase in their first speaking class with the average score of all aspects 92.84%.

Tenses materials are basic grammar lessons that make students better at understanding grammar learning at the next level. The learning situation in this monotonous pandemic period is, of course, very detrimental for students if lecturers do not try to create innovations and learning creations. "Tepuk Keledai Cerdik" is a language teaching technique, especially with regard to grammar which is closely related to tenses. These two methods, which are combined into one name, have brought significant results to the students' ability to understand tenses in English subjects. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The method used in data collection is the direct method. The data collected from the results of the use of "Tepuk Keledai Cerdik" in learning tenses must be valid and reliable lingual data, because these two conditions are the main factors for proper analysis. "Tepuk Keledai Cerdik" has brought significant results to the students' ability to understand questions related to grammar. The results above indicate an increase in students' ability to speak English in writing by 45.78%. Tepuk Keledai Cerdik technique has been practiced by the author since 2018 in the basic communicative grammar course in the English Education study program. And this technique has brought significant results that are closely related to motivation, interest, the level of active participation of students in learning English and students' skills in solving problems in a logical and practical way.   Keywords: Learning tenses; Tehnik Tepuk Keledai Cerdik
