The development of technology is an inseparable part of human life. Through its development,  technology furthermore produces various reliable tools to assist people in many ways. The technological applications can be in the forms of Google products such as  Google Classroom, Google Form, and Google meet, and also other applications such as Zoom Cloud Meeting, Microsoft Teams  intended to solve various kinds of problems including education field. These technological advancements are popularly used and are indeed very helpful in learning, but sometimes it can’t be hindered that technological applications are not always in accordance with the needs. For example, the practicum learning process in the Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Open University, which has no practical application yet. This is because the existing applications are not in accordance with the learning process at the Open University. So, the solution that must be done is to develop an online practicum application (Praton) in the Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology of the Open University. The process of developing a practicum application also cannot be done immediately, so at least there must be an application development design first. Application development design must go through several stages using a software development model. One of the models that can be used is the waterfall model with an object-based approach or commonly referred to as UML (Unified Modeling Language). The results of this software development design are in the form of a software design document and will be sent to a programmer to establish the application. With this application design, programmers will know more about the specifications of online practicum applications that suit the needs of learning process.

Applications require short development cycles and constant interaction with customers. Requirement gathering has become an ongoing process, reflecting continuous changes in technology and market demands. System analysis and modeling that are made at the initial project stages are quickly abandoned and become outmoded. Model driven architecture (MDA), rapid application development (RAD), adaptive development, extreme programming (XP), and others have resulted in a shift from the traditional waterfall model. These methodologies attempt to respond to the needs, but do they really fulfill their objectives, which are essential to the success of software development? Unified modeling language (UML) was created by the convergence of several well-known modeling methodologies. Despite its popularity and the investments that have been made in UML tools, UML is not yet translatable into running code. Some of the problems that have been discovered have to do with the absence of action semantics language and its size. This chapter reviews and evaluates the UML evolution (UML2, xUML), providing criteria and requirements to evaluate UML and the xUML potential to raise levels of abstraction, flexibility, and productivity enhancement. At the same time, it pinpoints its liabilities that keep it from completely fulfilling the vision of software development through a continuous exactable modeling process, considered to be the future direction for modeling and implementation.

Semester Learning Plan (RPS) is a learning planning document prepared as a guide for lecturers and students in carrying out teaching and learning activities on campus for one semester. RPS was made to guide lecturers and students in the learning process so that the material taught is following the learning outcomes set by the study program. To meet and adjust the needs of graduate users and the development of science and technology, the RPS must be regularly reviewed and updated if there are changes in teaching materials that are no longer following current conditions. However, what often becomes a problem is that there is no documented process for changing the RPS content regarding the reasons and which parts have changed so that the RPS change process cannot be carried out at will and when audited there is a history of changing the data. Because of these problems, this research will design and build a web-based RPS management information system that can assist study programs in documenting RPS changes and making it easier for users to access the changed content. The system development method used in this study uses the waterfall method, and for its design using UML (Unified Modeling Language). The final result of this research is a web-based RPS management information system using the Codeigniter 4 framework which can make it easier for managers and users to obtain RPS information.

Archiving incoming and outgoing mail is very important in an organization, especially for institutions such as SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru. The filing of letters at SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru is still done by writing incoming and outgoing letters on the agenda book and storing letters in filing cabinets, making it difficult to find old letter archives and often losing letters. The purpose of this research is to find the right solution so that the archiving of incoming and outgoing mail at SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru is more effective and efficient by making an application for archiving incoming and outgoing mail. The method used in this research is the system development model method, namely the Waterfall Model. The application design and analysis model uses the UML (Unified Modeling Language) model which is an object-oriented language or OOP (Object Oriented Programming). Application development and development uses a static programming language, namely PHP (Hypertext Pre-processor) and MySQL as application database. The results of the research on the making of incoming and outgoing mail archiving applications are very helpful and easier for SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru in filing incoming and outgoing mail, especially the Administration (School Administration) section because letter archiving is already stored in the database. The conclusion is that the application is very easy and helpful in archiving incoming mail and this letter is evident from the user's assessment of the application with a value of 92% more effective and efficient.

The increasing use of software is giving rise to the development of highly complex software systems. Further, software systems are required to be of high quality as a defect can have catastrophic effect on business as well as human life. Testing is defined as the process of executing a program with the intention of finding errors. Software testing is an expensive process of the software development life cycle consuming nearly 50% of development cost. Software testing aims not only to guarantee consistency in software specification but also to validate its implementation meeting user requirements. On the whole, it is observed that in general, errors in software systems set in at the early stages of the software development cycle (i.e. while gathering user requirements and deciding on specification of intended software). Even though formal specification in B and Z assures a provable system, its use has become less popular due to mathematical rigor. The Unified Modeling Language (UML), a semi-formal language with graphical notations consisting of various diagrams has caught software developers’ imaginations and, it has become popular in industry. UML, with its several diagrams, helps to develop a model of intended software, and the model behaviour is simulated and tested to the satisfaction of both developer as well as users. As a UML model includes specifications of different aspects of a software system through several diagrams, it is essential to maintain consistency among diagrams so that quality of the model is maintained, and through inconsistency checking and removal, the model moves toward completeness. The works reported in literature on this topic are reviewed here.

Learning process is part of the E-Procurement courses curriculum in Information Systems Study Program at Widyatama University. All this time, in the face-to-face method of learning process, students have not been able to optimize the mastery of knowledge and skills as expected. One of the things that the Information Systems Study Program did to optimize said mastery is applying the blended learning program in e-Procurement courses. This study uses mixed method evaluation approach in evaluating various stages of the process to implement a blended learning program. Meanwhile, the evaluation method used consists of 2 parts of the model namely 1) CIPP, an evaluation carried out on context, input, process, and product, 2) The Flashlight Triad, an evaluation of activities that utilize information technology online. As the final result of evaluating the implementation of blended learning based on observations and research that has been done, there is an optimization of the increase in mastery of students' knowledge and skills, after conducting various activities that are conditioned on face-to-face activities combined with online ones. The results of this evaluation mean that a well-conditioned blended learning program can influence students in terms of motivation, therefore mastering the knowledge and skills of a course can be optimized through the student learning experience.
