Abstract. The analysis of external load (eTL) provides Physical Education teachers with information about how they plan sport teaching within their classes, which they can use as a feedback. Thus, the aim of this study was to analyze the eTL of the tasks designed by pre-service teachers for the teaching of school basketball, depending on the phases of game. A total of 283 tasks designed by six pre-service teachers were categorized through the Integral System for Training Tasks Analysis. The quantification of the eTL of the tasks was obtained through six variables: degree of opposition, density of the task, percentage of simultaneous performers, competitive load, game area, and cognitive involvement. A descriptive analysis was performed using contingency tables and an inferential analysis using Kruskal-Wallis H and Mann-Whitney U statistical tests, establishing the effect size through Cohen’s d. The results indicate significant differences in the eTL (p<.001; d=1.898) and the eTL*Time (p<.001; d=1.558) depending on the phases of game. The tasks designed for the attack phase (mostly exercises) have a medium-low eTL, while the tasks designed for the defense and mixed phases have a medium-high eTL. The tasks designed for the attack phase predominate, followed by those for the mixed phase. The use of games causes greater eTL and fosters students’ physical condition.

Abstract The objective of this article was to know players’ needs in the selected tests, to search for differences between categories and to know if there is any relationship between different tests. The sample consists of 2 teams (u-14, u-16, n=24), which were equipped with a WimuR inertial device. The selected tests were 2 agility tests and a lactic anaerobic capacity test. Neuromuscular and kinematic variables were selected. Descriptive analysis, inferential analysis and analysis of correlation among variables were carried out. Once players’ needs are described, there are no significant differences among kinematic variables depending on the sample category. Nonetheless, there is relationship between kinematic and neuromuscular variables of the different tests. It is frequently claimed that capacity tests are those that cause more fatigue in athletes. For this reason, an analysis was carried out comparing a lactic anaerobic capacity test with an agility test in its two versions. The obtained results can facilitate the work and the evaluation time of a physical condition test since results of athletes in a capacity test could be known by performing tests of lesser requirement. In addition, this would avoid players from experiencing a situation of maximum effort and possible injury, also saving training time.

This study represents a descriptive analysis of feedback patterns and perceptual maps of experienced and inexperienced teachers. Five experienced elementary physical education teachers and 5 inexperienced teachers participated in the study. Data were collected by videotaping and audiotaping three lessons taught by each teacher. Transcripts of audiotapes were made for all verbal feedback administered by the teachers, and each unit of feedback was coded from the written transcripts using a multidimensional observation system. Following the second and third lessons, patterns in cue perception employed by teachers during feedback interaction were accessed using a stimulated recall interview and concept mapping techniques. Results indicated that inexperienced teachers did not differ from experienced teachers in their feedback structure. However, experienced teachers differed from inexperienced teachers on their perceptual patterns. Specifically, perceptual maps of experienced teachers were more complex and were organized hierarchically, whereas inexperienced teachers’ patterns tended to be sparse and hierarchically shallow.

The number of private schools in our country is increasing day by day and they are in demand. As a result of this, an education sector with its own unique working conditions and standards has formed. Based on this situation, it is important for the quality of education to reveal the current situation of private schools regarding the education process from a real, impartial, and different perspective. The aim of this study is to determine the remarks of Physical Education teachers working in private schools on education, training, management processes and parent-student relations in Private Schools. The sample group of this study consists of 20 Physical Education teachers working at private schools in Turkey (in the province of Elazig) and selected according to the criterion sampling method, one of the purposive sampling methods. In the research, semi-structured and in-depth interviews were conducted with 20 teachers by using the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research methods. The collected data were analyzed and themed by content and descriptive analysis methods. It has been determined that the assessment and evaluation made in these schools are not objective and do not reflect the truth. However, it has been observed that all kinds of opportunities are offered in order to increase the learning motivation of students in private education institutions, technological opportunities are high and they are used in the field of education, all kinds of sports and social activities are carried out and these have a positive effect on teaching methods and processes It has been determined in these schools that private lessons are given to some students for money and this is common. It has been observed that this situation affects the perspectives of the teachers towards the students and the students towards the teacher and the lesson and some teachers that direct students to learn formulas and memorize them instead of focusing on their thinking strategies and skills. Emphasis is placed on the selection of school administrators. In addition, it has been determined that parents are closely interested in their students and this situation affects student success closely.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the opinions of physical education teachers on the concept of sportsmanship. This study, which has been based on the qualitative research paradigm, involves opinions of 13 physical education teachers (9 males and 4 females) which serve in public schools of Turkey and which have been specified through a critical incident sampling. A “semi-structured interview form” which has been developed using a literature review and expert opinions has been used to collect data. The descriptive analysis technique was used in analyzing the obtained data. Results of the study showed that physical education teachers have different views on the sportsmanship concept. Although physical education teachers stated their opinions on requirement of activities towards enhancing the awareness with regard to the sportsmanship concept in schools they work in, it was determined that they performed few activities pertaining to sportsmanship. However, it was seen that the current physical education course programs do not provide teachers with sufficient information regarding the sportsmanship education and that teachers desire to have education on the sportsmanship concept during in-service training activities. Furthermore, the involved teachers think that quality of the current university education in terms of the sportsmanship concept should be improved. In conclusion, in order to enhance the quality of physical education teachers with regard to the sportsmanship concept, particularly faculties of education are recommended to include compulsory courses containing both the theory and practice on sportsmanship and researchers are recommended to develop sample activities and practice guiding physical education teachers.

Abstract. The goal of this study was to asses which contents were truly developed in Asturias’ Primary Physical Education. 120 Physical Education teachers, 58 females (48.3%) and 62 males (51.7%) with a mean age of 40.87 ± 7.53 agreed to complete an ad hoc questionnaire designed to asses which contents are truly developed in class, and the different variables that might affect this selection. Following a descriptive and an inferential analysis, the variables gender, age, seniority, and initial and permanent training were found to be strong indicators of content use in practice. Games and sports are the most developed contents, while body expression and health are the under-developed contents. This predominance is observed in all stages of Primary Education, except in stage 1 where body contents are most popular. Females showed a stronger tendency to develop body expression and health contents, while males are more oriented towards games and sports and motor skills. Finally, other elements such as the relevance that each teacher gives to a specific content, teachers’ motivation to teach certain contents or their satisfaction after teaching them are also determinants of the type of work conducted in class.

Purpose: This study had two purposes. One purpose was to explore preservice physical education teachers’ development of adaptive competence in six core practices during planning and teaching in physical education. The second purpose was to understand how rehearsals and repeated teaching as two pedagogies of practice-based teacher education were perceived by preservice teachers in their development of adaptive competence. Methods: This was a mixed-methods study using descriptive analysis to analyze data collected from lesson plans and a collective case study to analyze semistructured interviews. Findings: Preservice teachers made the most adaptations in the core practices of coordinating and adjusting instruction, establishing rules and routines, and providing precise instruction. Rehearsals and repeated teaching were perceived as effective strategies to facilitate the development of adaptive competence in teaching. Conclusions: Findings are discussed in terms of three contemporary teacher education conceptualizations: (a) adaptive competence, (b) core practices in physical education, and (c) practice-based teacher education pedagogies.
