Abstract. The study aims to review the scientific evidence related to football for amputees. For the reference search, the following keywords were used as descriptors: “Football” and “Amputee”. The terms were entered in English in the following computerized databases: SPORTDiscus, PUBMED, Web of Science and SCOPUS, considering all the documents published up to September 2020. To limit the search, four inclusion criteria were introduced: 1) Select documents available in full text or with abstract, 2) Have enough relevant information about soccer for amputees (Minimum 50 words), 3) Provide information related to the physical condition, training, injuries and / or social aspects of the players of soccer for people with amputations, and 4) Be written in Spanish, English or Portuguese. The exploratory systematic review featured ten football related documents for amputees. The existing documents related to the subject are scarce as a consequence of the lack of evolution of this modality. These manuscripts, for the most part, deal with aspects such as strength and endurance. Furthermore, only one document talks about the use of inertial devices in their measurements. Therefore, there is a need for further research in the field of football for amputees.

Pictorial symbols have multiple layers of meaning: not only do they represent objects, events and ideas about the world, they also represent the intentions of artists as well as other artist attributes (age, skill, originality and knowledge, mood, style and sentience). Although children’s developmental milestones of pictorial understanding have been the subject of a long-standing debate, their understanding of the relation between artists and pictures has often been neglected. The aim of this article was to conduct a systematic review on children’s and adolescents’ understanding of the relation between artists and pictures. PsycINFO and Web of Science databases were searched for English, Spanish, German, and Italian language empirical studies that examined this link in 2- to 18-year- olds. Forty-two citations (64 studies) from 14 different countries met the inclusion criteria. Results revealed the majority of the studies focused on the understanding of the artist’s intention. Although research on children’s and adolescents’ understanding of other attributes is scarce, and there were inconsistencies across the methodologies used, it seems that they first acknowledge intention and only later become more aware of how artist’s attributes are communicated through intention. The results of the review encourage subsequent research to provide a clearer conceptualised model of child and adolescent understanding of the artist-picture relationship. Such a model should be placed within a wider framework of the network of relationship between the artist, picture, world and beholder. Finally, consideration of how the development of understanding the artist-picture relationship is bi-directionally influenced with other developmental milestones in the child psychology is encouraged, particularly picture-production and theory of mind, and variations in atypical populations.

AbstractConcentrations of circulating adipokines in non-obese polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients had been reported in many researches, however, these results were conflicting. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess whether the levels of circulating adipokines were changed in non-obese PCOS. To identify eligible studies, literature research was performed in the database of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science without the restriction of region, publication or language. Of the total studies found, only 81 met the inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis showed that circulating levels of adiponectin [-0.95 (95% CI, −1.36 to −0.53)] decreased statistically in non-obese PCOS women. On the contrary, circulating levels of chemerin [1.13 (95% CI, 0.08 to 2.18)], leptin [0.47 (95% CI, 0.13 to 0.81)], resistin [0.45 (95% CI, 0.03 to 0.88)] and visfatin [1.38 (95% CI, 0.68 to 2.09)] increased significantly in non-obese PCOS females. Besides, there was no statistically significant change in the circulating levels of apelin [0.32 (95% CI, −1.34 to 1.99), irisin [1.01(95% CI, −0.68 to 2.70), omentin [-0.37(95% CI, −1.05 to 0.31)] and vaspin [0.09(95% CI, −0.14 to 0.32)] in non-obese PCOS patients. Scientific evidence suggested that the levels of circulating adipokines altered in non-obese PCOS patients compared with controls. Independent of the degree of obesity, the abnormal change of circulating adipokines levels might play an important role in the occurrence and development of PCOS.

Abstract. Scientific evidence on the importance of emotions in the educational context is growing and becoming more conclusive. These investigation has been carried out with the main objective of knowing the current state of Emotional Education in the area of Physical Education. A total of 21 articles published between 2015 and 2017 were selected according to the inclusion criteria of our objectives, after a systematic review of works in the Web of Science database. These articles were analysed and successively categorized to extrapolate results. These indicate that research in the field has focused more on students than on teachers; additionally, emotional education has been treated as a target rather than as a mean, or rather than studying its relation with other variables. Finally, future research lines and practical applications for teachers are suggested.

New models for teaching sports have arisen in the last years, characterised by the use of more contextualised situations, modified games, tactical awareness, transference of technical–tactical learning and different teaching progression, among other aspects. In this regard, small-sided games must be highlighted, due to their ability to integrate physical fitness, technique and tactical behaviour stimuli in similar conditions to the real game. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review was to analyse and describe the methodological possibilities that SSGs can provide regarding the teaching of technical–tactical aspects in team sports at young ages. The guidelines of the PRISMA declaration were followed with the purpose of conducting a systematic search. The search was performed in the databases Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus and SportDiscus. From the 451 identified in an early phase, plus the 20 found in the references of other studies, only 47 met the inclusion criteria and were selected. The results yielded scientific evidence that justifies the use of small-sided games as a methodological resource for sports teaching at young ages. Among the main reasons, it can be highlighted that a reduction in the number of players and in the size of the pitch area increases the total ball contact per player and, therefore, the number of technical actions. Moreover, the intentional modification of certain rules helps to develop some sport training fundamentals.

Abstract. Traditionally, the diversity of factors that influence the practice of physical activity of adolescents has been widely studied. However, we have not found research that provides empirical data that allow us to determine the effect of motivation and the use of ICT in the practice of physical activity in adolescents. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to carry out a systematic review of the studies that evaluate the effect of motivation and the use of ICT to improve the practice of physical activity in adolescence. The review included 243 scientific articles published in the Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases, from January 2010 to April 2021, using the PRISMA methodology to analyze the information. The results provide scientific evidence that justify that motivation and the use of ICT are factors that positively affect the performance of physical activity. Among the main reasons, it stands out that the inappropriate use of technological resources is one of the main causes of sedentary lifestyle, physical inactivity and the decline in healthy lifestyle habits of the population.

The relationship between socialization through social media (SM) and eating disorders (EDs) is a serious problem for public health, largely affecting the mental health of younger people. This work aimed to identify scientific works addressing ED psychopathologies, studying their relationship with SM usage. In this systematic review, we analyze the available scientific evidence, thereby providing tools for intervention, prevention, and treatment. A systematic review and PRISMA analysis of narrative syntheses was carried out. Works were selected from the databases of Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and PsycINFO. Out of a total of 257 references, 19 articles were identified and selected; among them, correlational studies predominated. A growing interest in the subject matter was identified, as it is undergoing constant changes. The investigations found that EDs and SM usage are influenced by the time spent on SM, the type of interactions, and shared photographs, as well as gender and sociocultural context.

Abstract. Scientific evidence shows us how a lack of movement throughout the day can have negative effects on our health. Active commuting to school enables the acquisition of healthy habits following the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The purpose of this article was to carry out a systematic review of the state of the art, in relation to active commuting to school, the existing obstacles and its physical, psychological, and motivational benefits at different educational stages. The design corresponds to a review of previous studies published between 2015 and 2020. The databases Web of Science, Pubmed and Scopus were used to carry out the study. For the selection of studies, only those that matched the pre-established standards were identified. From the 25 initial results, 13 articles were selected that met the pre-specified eligibility standards. The results showed a positive relationship between active commuting from home to school and associated health benefits for the practitioners. In contrast, a significant number of barriers were associated with the choice of active commuting to schools, high schools and/or universities. More research and published studies are needed to clarify specifically and detailed the health benefits of active commuting, as well as the steps to be taken in plans to minimize the barriers to active commuting.
