AbstractThe Nucleus of Support for Family's  Health  (NSFH) was created in the year 2008 by the Ministry of Health as part of the reorganization of primary care and to support the insertion of the Family Health Strategy. It is composed of a team of professionals from different categories, who develop their actions based on the multiprofessional teamwork model and, among these categories it is Occupational Therapy. With the objective of understanding how NASF professionals understand the specificity of Occupational Therapy in this interdisciplinary context, a field study with a qualitative approach was carried out, whose data production occurred through a semi-structured interview with 11 subjects and its analysis performed through the technique of Content Analysis that allowed to identify three thematic categories: Understanding of the occupational therapist about his role in the Nucleus Of Support For Health Of Family; The perception of the team about the role of the occupational therapist in the NASF and Potentials and challenges for the consolidation of the NASF profession. It was observed that the performance of occupational therapists is based on preventive activities and the daily life of the subjects and that the other members of the team demonstrate difficulties in recognizing the role of the category in the NASF, although they punctuate some general practices. Thus, although Occupational Therapy is shown as a promising profession in the NASF, there are some problems that may weaken the practice of the category and its collaboration in the work of the team. Keywords: Primary health care; Patient care team; Professional practice; Public health; Occupational therapy.
