Abstrak Penulis mendiskusikan sikap penolakan terhadap kehadiran anak-anak penerima baptisan dalam perayaan Perjamuan Kudus sebagaimana yang dipraktekkan kebanyakan jemaat dalam lingkungan Gereja Kristen Jawa (GKJ). Bertolak dari penelitian terhadap Pokok-Pokok Ajaran (PPA) GKJ, penulis menunjukkan adanya inkonsistensi dalam penerapan PPA-GKJ. Pada satu sisi GKJ memahami Perjamuan Kudus sebagai perlambang kehidupan keluarga Allah. Tetapi pada sisi lain, anak-anak penerima baptisan tidak terhisab dalam keluarga Allah sehingga ditolak kehadirannya dalam Perjamuan Kudus. Ada dua penyebab yang melandasi praktek ini. Pertama, penetapan persyaratan yang terlalu tinggi bagi keikut-sertaan dalam Perjamuan Kudus. Kedua, masih kuat pengaruh paham dalam budaya Jawa tradisional tentang anak-anak sebagai kaum yang tidak bisa disetarakan dengan orang dewasa. Perspektif rangkap dari Roberth Schreiter yakni membuka tradisi gereja dan membuka budaya dipakai penulis untuk memperlihatkan bahwa penolakan terhadap anak-anak dalam Perjamuan Kudus merupakan tindakan yang bertentangan dengan hakikat Perjamuan Kudus. Abstract The author discusses the prohibition of entry of baptized children in the celebration of Holy Communion as practiced by most congregations in Christian Church of Java (Gereja Kristen Jawa/GKJ, Bahasa Indonesia). Drawing from the research conducted on the Principle Teachings (Pokok-Pokok Ajaran/PPA, Bahasa Indonesia) of GKJ, the author explains that there are inconsistencies in the implementation of PPA-GKJ. On one hand, GKJ understands that the Holy Communion is a symbol of life in God’s family. On the other hand, baptized children are not included within God’s family, which is the reason why they are not allowed to attend Holy Communion. There are two main reasons why this happens. First, difficult requirement for the permission to attend Holy Communion. Second, strong traditional Javanese ideology to exclude children from adult activities. The author employs Double perspective from Roberth Schreiter to analyze church tradition and culture to show that excluding children from Holy Communion contrasts to the main essence of Holy Communion.

›Ikonen‹ sind heute nicht mehr nur die Ikonen der christlichen Kirche, sondern vor allem die Ikonen der modernen Massenkultur. Beide Arten von Ikonen werden in der neueren Kunstreflexion aufgegriffen: Kunst gilt entweder, verstanden als Erbin der religiösen Ikone, als Phänomen, das Absolutes in singulärer Weise anschaulich er- fahrbar macht. Oder aber die Kunst gilt umgekehrt lediglich als Klasse in der Welt der säkularen Ikonen. Demgegenüber wird im Beitrag erstens die These vertretenwerden, daß die neuere Kunst sowohl Aspekte transzendenter als auch immanenter Ikonen umfaßt. Zugleich ist es aber, so die zweite These, für unser Kunstverständnis charakteristisch, ein theoretisches Kontrastverhältnis zwischen Kunst und Ikone an- zunehmen. Dieses gründet auf einer spezifischen Reflexivität der Kunst, durch die sie sich von der Ikone beiderlei Art kategorial unterscheidet. Today, the word ›icon‹ usually no longer refers to the icons of the Christian church, but to the icons of the modern mass-culture. Both sorts of icons play a key-role in the recent discussion about art: Either art is supposed to be a descendant of the religious icon, a phenomenon that gives us a singular visual experience of the Absolute. On the other hand, art is supposed to be just one class among others in the wide world of the secular icons. In contrast to these two positions this essay contends that modern art comprehends aspects of transcendent as well as of immanent icons. Furthermore, it argues that at the same time it is characteristic for our notion of art to suppose a contrast between art and icon. This contrast is based on a specific reflectivity of art, which marks a categorical difference between art and both sorts of icons.

It will doubtless be generally admitted that the ecclesiastical buildings of the earlier centuries of the Christian era merit careful study, as well from the investigator into the history and antiquities of the Christian Church, as from the architectural antiquary. The style and ornamentation of the church and the baptistery must necessarily reflect something of the tone of feeling towards religious matters which prevailed at the time of their erection, whilst the form of the structure, and even more those fittings and arrangements by which it was adapted to ritual purposes, must obviously have been planned and modified in accordance with the views of the age as regarded liturgical and ritual observances, ecclesiastical discipline, and even articles of faith. To the architectural antiquary, on the other hand, these buildings are interesting as enabling him to study the decline of Roman art, and as links in the great chain of architectural progress.

A strange contrast exists in the status of the Christian Church in the past seventy years. On the one hand the Church has clearly lost some of the ground which once appeared to be safely within its possession. On the other hand it has become more widely spread geographically and, when all mankind is taken into consideration, more influential in shaping human affairs than ever before in its history. In a paper as brief as this must of necessity be, space can be had only for the sketching of the broad outlines of this paradox and for suggesting a reason for it. If details were to be given, a large volume would be required. Perhaps, however, we can hope to do enough to point out one of the most provocative and important set of movements in recent history.

Transferring meaning embedded by English idiom is not an easy way to do. The meaning contained by English Idiom cannot be comprehended by merely knowing the meaning from each word arranging the idiom. Dealing with English idiom in translation is quite hard because the translator has to transfer the meaning of English idiom into Bahasa Indonesia rightly. On the other hand, it is quite difficult to find the equivalence term in Bahasa Indonesia reflecting the same meaning as it is reflected in the source text. To manage this problem, the translation strategies need to be applied. This research focuses on analyzing the translation strategies used by the translator in transferring the meaning of English idioms into Bahasa Indonesia in the subtitle of  Pitch Perfect 3 Movie. The research method is descriptive qualitative method.. Baker’s translation strategies is used as guideline in classifying the translation strategies used. After finding the type of translation strategies employed, further identifying whether the meaning of English idiom is transferred rightly in Bahasa Indonesia. According to the finding, translation by using idiom in similar meaning and disimilar form was not used by the translator to translate the idioms. The frequency of  translation by using idiom in similar meaning but disimilar form strategy is 4 idioms. 46 idioms were translated by using paraphrased strategy. It is only 1 idiom was translated by using omission strategy. that the meaning of 36 idioms are transferred accurately. The meaning of four idioms were transferred Less-accurately. The meaning of 11 idioms were classified as inaccurate translation

Civilization and social structure have dramatically changed in these last several decades. Exponential development of globalization and the growth of technology of communication have transformed values, views and cultures of human civilization nowadays. These are the symptoms of world web wide era; where the local issues can be global discussion in minutes. In one hand, the Church of God should be sensitive to the age changes, does some adaptations and changes to be relevant. In the other hand, the Church of God should not be conformed to this world. Church of the Nazarene as one of the Christian Church denominations in the world is demanded to take the stance to deal with the changes that are happened today especially in LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) issue.

<p><strong>Bahasa Indonesia:</strong></p><p>Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui model pendidikan toleransi di pesantren modern dan di pesantren salaf. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan setting dua pesantren, yakni pesantren modern Gontor Ponorogo dan pesantren salaf Tebuireng Jombang. Teknik pengumpulan datanya dengan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Untuk analisis data digunakan teknik analisis induktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Pesantren Darussalam Gontor merupakan pesantren modern, dengan ciri khas berupaya memadukan tradisionalitas dan modernitas pendidikan. Sistem pengajaran wetonan dan sorogan diganti dengan sistem klasikal (pengajaran di dalam kelas) yang berjenjang dan kurikulum terpadu diadopsi dengan penyesuaian tertentu. Sistem pendidikan yang digunakan di pondok modern dinamakan sistem Mu’allimin, atau terkenal dengan nama Kulliyatul-Mu'allimin al-Islamiyah (KMI). Sedangkan sistem pendidikaan di pondok pesantren Tebuireng, dilihat dari segi sistem pendidikan dan pengajarannya sepenuhnya tidak dapat disebut sebagai pesantren salaf murni. Karena di pesantren Tebuireng masih mempertahankan sistem pendidikan  salaf, juga menerapkan sistem pendidikan modern. Oleh karena itu, untuk sekarang ini lebih tepat apabila menyebut Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng dengan sebutan Pondok Pesantren Campuran atau Pondok Pesantren Terpadu (antara khalaf dan salaf).  (2) Baik di pondok pesantren modern dan salaf, Islam yang dipahami dan diaktualkan adalah Islam yang inklusif, ramah, tidak kaku, moderat, yakni Islam yang bernuansa perbedaan dan sarat dengan nilai-nilai multikultural. Mendakwahkan Islam yang  seperti inilah yang menjadikan Islam bisa bersentuhan dengan multikultur. Untuk membentuk santri yang toleran kedua pesantren ini mengajarkannya melalui kurikulum pendidikan dan keteladanan hidup sehari-hari.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>English:</strong></p><p>This research purposes to examine tolerant education model in both modern and salafis pesantren. This qualitatively descriptive study involves two pesantren settings, the modern pesantren Gontor Ponorogo and the salafis pesantren Tebuireng Jombang. Data is collected through interviews and documentations. From an inductive analysis, this research shows the following results. First, the Gontor modern pesantren acculturate preserved traditional value of pesantren in the modernity of educational systems. Particular teaching methods such as wetonan and sorogan are transformed into more standardized grades in classical way. Classic curriculum is still preserved in the class with some adaptations. This system is later called Mu’allimin or more popular as Kulliyatul-Mu'allimin al-Islamiyah (KMI). On the other hand, educational system in the pesantren of Tebuireng cannot be considered as the pure salafis category as the pesantren is still conducted the salafis education and the modern one separately. Therefore, the Tebuireng is now more exactly called “mixed pesantren” or integrated pesantren –between the khalafis and salafis. The next result of this result shows the fact that both salafis and integrated pesantrens actualize inclusive, peaceful, flexible, ad moderate Islam in which diversity and multiculturalism is in it. Islamic missionary in this way sustain Islam to live together with multi-culture. Curriculum of education and good-model leadership create santris with high tolerance.</p>

AbstractThis study aims to describe and analyze student errors in writing effective sentences. University students, especially those who were in the 1st semester, have not realized and developed Bahasa Indonesia as a skill. In the use of Bahasa Indonesian, students were not consciously guided by applicable language rules. Thus, the Bahasa Indonesian used by students was not as good and correct as expected by competence. Students have not been able to write effective sentences. There were still many students who have not applied the terms of effective sentences. In fact, the ability to write effective sentences is important for students.The approach in this research was qualitative. A qualitative approach was used in this study because the data analyzed were in the form of descriptions of observed phenomenon. In this case, the observed phenomenon was an error in writing effective sentences that occurred in the papers of hospitality students. The researcher identified the sentence that does not meet the requirements as an effective sentence and the factors behind the occurrence of the error.The results showed that students' skills in writing effective sentences were still poor. Of the five requirements for effective sentences, researchers found errors of four requirement. The accuracy was the only requirement in which no errors occurred. Based on the finding, researchers believe that students have been able to avoid writing ambiguous meaningful sentences. On the other hand, errors in clarity were very dominant found in student papers. Based on these facts, plus a test, the researcher concluded that the students have not been able to understand sentence structures well, even when students were asked to determine the subject and predicate in the sentence, more than 30% of students have not been able to determine precisely. Keywords: Error Analysis, Effective Sentence, Hospitality Students

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuang untuk mengidentifikasi serapan kata bahasa Inggris dalam bahasa Indonesia. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah surar kabar Seputar Indonesia yang diterbitkan pada tanggal 27 bulan Desember 2009. Penelitian ini, hanya mengambil beberapa artikel untuk dianalisis kata-kata serapannya, karena banyak sekali artikel dalam surat kabar tersebut, seperti pendidikan, hiburan, olahraga, ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, hobi, gaya hidup, politik dan berita internasional. Selain itu, penelitian ini dilakukan karena surat kabar ini lebih dikenal sebagai surat kabar yang sering menggunakan kata-kata baru atau bahasa serapan daripada surat kabar lain. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan ada sekitar 45 bahasa serapana dari surat kabar  itu, yaitu perluasan, penyempitan,  persamaan makna dan kebanyakan di antara kata tersebut adalah kata serapan campuran, lima kata serapan yaitu duel, mode, model, target, dan survey serta tidak terjadi pergeseran pinjaman (loan Shift).---Abstract This research is aimed at identifying the English borrowing words from English into Indonesian. The object of this research is Indonesian newspaper, Seputar Indonesia, published on December 27th, 2009. This research, however, takes only certain articles to analyze in terms of borrowing words, since there are so many articles in it, such as education, entertainment, sport, science, technology, hobbies, lifestyle, politics and International news. In addition, this research is conducted for it is known as the Indonesia leading newspaper in using new words or borrowing words compared than the other newspapers. As the result, this research finds forty five borrowing words from the newspaper, namely extension, narrowing, same meaning and most of them are loan blend, five loanwords they are duel, mode, model, target, and survey and no loan shift. On the other hand, the change of meaning does not have regeneration and degeneration.
