The rapid development in the world of information and communication technologies makes it possible to say that now they are one of the most common ways of teaching. These technologies influence the formation of methods and methods of pedagogical activity, open up new opportunities for communication and obtaining information. Informatization and computerization of education acts as a component of the general trend of global processes of world development, as an initial information and communication basis for the harmonious development of the individual and social systemic information. Preparing a student for an active and fruitful life in a modern digital information society is one of the main tasks of the modern stage of modernization of the education system.

This article summarizes results related to graduates in Library and Information Science (LIS) provided in a report on higher-education employability published by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) in 2019. The data show that LIS graduates have a slightly lower employment rate than other graduates. Nevertheless, they enjoy greater job stability, with a higher percentage of permanent contracts instead of placements or internships. More than one-quarter of LIS graduates work part-time, and the Public Administration continues to be the sector providing more employment opportunities for them. A certain level of overqualification is observed, with significant percentages of LIS graduates stating that they hold positions for which their degree is not necessary. Salaries are lower than those of other graduates, with data showing the same gender pay gap that affects female graduates across all disciplines. LIS graduates are satisfied with their training, and most would study the same degree again. They are little inclined to international mobility during their studies and consider themselves advanced users of information and communication technologies.

Internationalization of education is a perspective. It shapes the objectives and modalities of an educational program aiming at internationalization. Some existing modalities are accreditation of academic programs by international accreditation agencies, exchange programs, international conferences, etc. Library and Information Science (LIS) as academic discipline in many countries, particularly in India, may not achieve the goal of internationalization through any of these routes exclusively and quickly for various reasons discussed in this chapter. A new form of collaboration among LIS classes of two institutions from different countries/cultures is proposed here. This type of collaboration can provide an alternate route to the internationalization of LIS education in India. This chapter discusses several issues – internationalization of LIS education in general and efforts in India in this regard, how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are becoming relevant in spreading education. Finally, the chapter proposes an ICT-based model that can help internationalization of Indian LIS education.

The digital revolution throughout the world has brought about new challenges as well as new opportunities for the information professionals. The information professionals of the developing countries are grappling with problems like weak infrastructure, lack of skilled manpower, financial stringency etc. in implementing information and communication technologies in the libraries and also in the digitization of information resources. This paper explores the problems and potential of ICT and digitization in context of the library and information sector of Bangladesh. An elaborate analysis of various challenges for establishing digital information systems and services in the backdrop of the socio-economic realities of Bangladesh has been presented in the paper, along with indications as to how these challenges could be overcome. The paper ends with the conviction that, if these challenges could be dealt with successfully, the Vision 2021 stated by the Government could be realized in time. This article is devoted to the standardization of bibliographic terminology. All Soviet and Russian standards , containing the terms in the field of bibliography are considered. The characteristic of the structural and content changes are given. The results of the studying existing domestic SIBID standards, including bibliographic terms are presented. The analysis of their content is carried out, approaches to systematization and terms definition are studied. The development of standardized bibliographic terms were traced through the normative documents. It is concluded that a number of terms are present in the two standards and have different definitions. At the same time, they have not been abolished, that leads to conflicting interpretations in various fields of activity. The lack of bibliographic terms that take into account the features of modern information and communication technologies is indicated. The content of these existing standards is illustrated by specific examples, that today certainly need to be updated. As a result, it was found that the basic standards reflecting the bibliographic terminology are largely outdated and do not correspond to the conceptual apparatus of modern library and information science and practice. The need to develop a national standard «Library and information activities. Terms and definitions» in which is proposed to include only general concepts relevant to the field of bibliography, becomes evident. At the same time, a specialized national standard “Bibliographing. Bibliographic resources. Terms and definitions», that should accumulate all the terms that reflect the processes of creating bibliographic information (bibliography, a special case of which is cataloguing) and diverse forms and types of its existence (bibliographic record, bibliographic reference, bibliographic resource), is being developed. The key term is “bibliographic resource” – the term, which has never been presented in the SIBID terminology standards before. An attention to the controversial issues of terminology is paid. The structure of the standard under development is proposed.

AbstractThe informational explosion and the ubiquity of information and communicationtechnologies, inherent aspects of the Information Society, have irreversibly reshaped the social dynamics. In this context, learning objects emerged, technological tools used for teaching, whether remote or in person. However, it is necessary that Information Science discuss more lucidly the use of these instruments today, pointing out their benefits and limitations. The general objective sought to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using learning objects as teaching tools from the perspective of Information Science. The specific objectives are: to identify negative and positive aspects of information and communication technologies today, using mainly the theoretical foundation of Information Science; point out the concept of learning object, as well as its use in teaching; detect the potential and limitations of learning objects and suggest the contexts in which they should or should not be used as a teaching tool considering the scope of the Information Society. Through a bibliographic survey, it was possible to point out the extent to which learning objectshave limitations that must be seriously considered, always avoiding the adoption of technocratic speeches that elect this technology as the solution to all existingeducational problems. The final considerations report that the use of learning objects needs to reflect the educational and cultural contexts and the physical limitations of the subjects, in addition to enabling the student's capacity for reflection.
