Plants are the almost exclusive source of drugs for the majority of the world population. The present study was carried out to investigate the phytoconstiuent of the Tinospora cordifolia leaf which contain alkaloids, flavanoids, steroidal glycoside, terpenoids and sterol are confirmed by preliminary phyochemical studies. GC-MS analysis of methanol extract of the plant Tinospora cordifolia leaf showed the presence of 15 bio active compounds. They are 4H-Pyran-4-one, 2,3-dihydro-3,5- dihydroxy-6-methyl,1,2,3- propanetriol,2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol, Benzene, 1-(2-chloroethyl)-2-(trifluoromethyl),3-Hydroxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid, nHexadecanoic acid, Hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester,9,12-Octadecadienoic acid (Z,Z)-,methyl ester, Oleic Acid, Linoleic acid ethyl ester,9-octadecenoic acid (z)-, ethyl ester, octadecanoic acid, ethyl ester,2,4-imidazolidinedione, 5,5- diphenyl-, hexadecanoic acid, 2-hydroxy-1-(hydroxymethyl)ethyl ester.

Manilkara subsericea(Mart.) Dubard (Sapotaceae) is popularly known in Brazil as “guracica.” Studies withManilkaraspp indicated the presence of triterpenes, saponins, and flavonoids. Several activities have been attributed toManilkaraspp such as antimicrobial, antiparasitic and antitumoral, which indicates the great biological potential of this genus. In all, 87.19% of the hexanic extract from fruits relative composition were evaluated, in which 72.81% were beta- and alpha-amyrin esters, suggesting that they may be chemical markers forM. subsericea. Hexadecanoic acid, hexadecanoic acid ethyl ester, (E)-9-octadecenoic acid ethyl ester, and octadecanoic acid ethyl ester were also identified. Ethanolic crude extracts from leaves, stems, and hexanic extract from fruits exhibited antimicrobial activity againstStaphylococcus aureusATCC25923. These extracts had highIC50values against Vero cells, demonstrating weak cytotoxicity. This is the first time, to our knowledge, that beta- and alpha-amyrin caproates and caprylates are described forManilkara subsericea.

The chemical components of red 1%NaOH extractives of Castanopsis fissa wood chips were separated and identified by GC/MS after enriching and dissolving in benzene-methanol. Relative content of each component was determined by area normalization. 24 compounds representing 71.87 % of the extractives were identified. The most abundant constituents were hexadecanoic acid,methyl ester(17.08%), 9-octadecenoic acid (z)-,methyl ester (cas) (15.08%), 2,3-diphenyl-5-(3-methoxyphenyl)pyrrole(7.05%), hexadecanoic acid,ethyl ester (cas) (7.02%), 9,12-octadecadienoic acid (z,z)-,methyl ester(4.82%), 9-octadecenoic acid (z)-,ethyl ester (cas) (4.70%), octadecanoic acid,methyl ester(2.66%), 10-methoxy-nb-à-methylcorynantheol(1.90%), di-(9-octadecenoyl)-glycerol(1.70%),ethyl linoleate(1.09%), 9-octadecenoic acid (z)-,methyl ester (cas) (1.03%), eicosanoic acid,methyl ester(1.01%), and so on.

The extractives from the fresh E. urograndis wood were obtained through red 1%NaOH solution. The chemical components for the extractives were identified by GC-MS. Relative content of each chemical component was determined by area normalization. Ninteen kinds of compounds representing 52.99% of the extractives which take on 36 peaks were identified. The result showed that the principal constituents were 9-octadecenoic acid (z)-, methyl ester (cas) (11.34%), 3-diphenyl-5-(3-methoxyphenyl)pyrrole(10.77%), hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester (cas) (6.23%), 9,12-octadecadienoic acid (z,z)-, methyl ester(6.16%), 9-octadecenoic acid (z)-, ethyl ester (cas) (3.17%), di-(9-octadecenoyl)-glycerol(3.14%), hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester (cas) (1.93%), ethyl linoleate(1.81%), 3-acetoxychol-5-ene(1.62%), ethyl linoleate(1.60%), octadecanoic acid, methyl ester(1.05%)and so on. Therefore, this result reported in the present study for the first time provides the scientific basis for the further exploitation and development of E. urograndis wood. At the same time, the pollution prevention of the waste water of paper mill, wood industry would being realized from the results.

The leaves of star fruit plants (Averrhoa carambola) have been traditionally used to cure many diseases, such as hypertension and fever. Besides, the leaves of this plant have also widely been used as the main raw material in lawar (a Balinese traditional food) making. In this research, the methanol extract of this plant leaves was analyzed and identified for active compound contents. The main objective of this research was to investigate types of possible active and applicable compounds contained in such leaves, previously extracted/macerated in methanol solution. Analysis was conducted by applying GC-MS instrumentation using methanol solution. The results showed that 10 possible active and applicable compounds (Butane, 1,1-diethoxy-3 methyl-(CAS)1.1-DII, Dodecanoic acid, methyk ester(CAS) methyl, Dodecanoic acid, methyl ester (CAS) Ethyl Laun, Pentadecanoic acid ethyl ester, Hexadecanoic acid methyl ester (CAS) Methyl pa, OCTADECA 9.12 DIENOIC ACID METHYL, 9-Octadecenoic acid methyl ester (E)-(CAS), Octadecanoic acid methyl ester, and (E) 9-Octadecanoic acid ethyl ester) were identified in methanol extract of such leaves. Among those compounds, Butane, 1,1-diethoxy-3-methyl and Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester was two most abundance constituents with percentage of peak areas of 35.67% and 26.93%, respectively.

Bioactive compounds are the frontline potent agents in both nutraceuticals and pharmaceutical industries. The bioactive compounds are gaining much importance for their ability in enhancing resistance to various diseases and to improve the health of people both by traditional and modern ways of administrations. R. vomitoria is one of the medicinal plants used traditionally to manage hypertension, diabetes and mental disorder. This present study sought to characterize the bioactive components of R. vomitoria leaf and root ethanol extracts using Gas-Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometry (GC-MS). The results of the GC-MS analysis provide different peaks indicating the presence of 22 phytochemicals in the plant leaf and 16 phytochemicals in the root. The major bioactive compounds in the leaf were squalene (18.69%), phytol (16.47%), n-hexadecanoic acid (15.68%), 7-tetradecenal, (Z) (12.90%), 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, ethyl ester, (Z,Z)-, (9.56%) and others, while the roots contains; cis-vaccenic acid (32.13%), n-hexadecanoic acid (15.41%), (E)-9-octadecenoic acid ethyl ester (9.83), cyclohexanecarbonitrile 1-(-4- chlorophenyl (9.45%), 8H-azeceno[5,4-b] indol-8-one, 5-ethylidene (7.66%) and other minor compounds. Pharmacological activities of these compounds indicated that the compounds present in the leaf of the plant can be used as a crude drug which could be developed into a novel drug. Some of these compounds have antimicrobial, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, hypocholesterolemic as well as cancer preventive activities amongst others. The findings suggest that there is an indication that both R. vomitoria leaves and roots contain potent bioactive compounds that may be linked to its beneficial effects on health, with the leaf taking the lead. It is therefore recommended as a plant of phytopharmaceutical significance.

Objective: To investigate the bioactive components of an invasive aquatic weed, Pistia stratiotes L. and Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms vegetative parts by using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS).Methods: The chemical compositions of the ethanol extract of whole plant Pistia stratiotes L. and Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms was investigated using Agilent Technologies GC-MS (GC-7890A, MS 5975C).Results: The results of GC-MS analysis of the ethanolic extract revealed the existence of 28 phytochemical compounds in Pistia stratiotes L. n-Hexadecanoic acid,-11-Hexadecenoic acid, ethyl ester, Hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester, Octadecanoic acid, ethyl ester, 2-Cyclopenten-1-one, 5-hydroxy-2,3-dimethyl, L-Glutamine, 2-Pentadecanone, 6,10,14-trimethyl, Linolelaidic acid, methyl ester, 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, methyl ester,(Z,Z,Z), Nonadecane, 12,15-Octadecadiynoic acid, methyl ester, Hexadecanoic acid, 2-hydroxy-1-(hydroxymethyl)ethyl ester, Diisooctyl phthalate, Docosanoic acid, ethyl ester, Stigmasterol, Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, 1-Monolinoleoylglycerol trimethylsilyl ether, Ethyl iso-allocholate are the major compound.The ethanolic extract of Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms contains 43 phytochemical compounds of high and low molecular weight n-Hexadecanoic acid, E-11-Hexadecenoic acid, ethyl ester, Palmitic acid, Phytol, 9,12,15-Octadecatrienal, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid, ethyl ester, Linolenic acid, ethyl ester, Stearic acid, ethyl ester, Hexadecanoic acid, 2-hydroxy-1-(hydroxymethyl)ethyl ester, α-Glyceryl linolenate, 1-Monolinoleoylglycerol trimethylsilyl ether, Linoleic acid, 2,3-bis-(O-TMS)-propyl ester, Stigmasterol, Linolelaidic acid, methyl ester, 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, ethyl ester, (Z,Z,Z), Ethyl iso-allocholate, Cholesta-22,24-dien-5-ol, 4,4-dimethyl are the major compounds.These results indicates Pistia stratiotes L. and Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms possess potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antitumour, antiarthritic, cancer preventive, antibacterial effects so can be recommended as a plant of phytopharmaceutical importance.Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Pistia stratiotes L. and Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms proves as a potential source of bioactive compounds of pharmacological importance.

The study focused on the molecular docking of GC-MS isolated compounds from theSargassum wightiiagainst inflammatory marker Cycloxigenase-2 (COX2). Seven compounds isolated by GC-MS were tested for their anti-inflammatory action using insilico analysis. The crystal structure obtained from the protein data bank was docked against seven compounds and the glide score as well as glide energy were determined using Schrödinger Maestro software (version 2013.1). The results of molecular docking showed that out of the seven bioactive compounds tested, methyl salicylate, benzoic acid, 2-hydroxy-,ethyl ester, diethyl phthalate, hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester and (E) -9-octadecenoic acid ethyl ester were effectively inhibited the COX2 protein. The ADME properties of the compounds analyzed using Qikprop version 3.6 software of Schrodinger suite and the results showed that all the compounds were biologically active and the scores were within the acceptable range. This study revealed that the possibility of using these compounds against COX2 to treat inflammation.

Fixed oil obtained from the seeds of Momordica tuberosa (Roxb) Cogn. fruits (family: Cucurbitaceae) was analyzed using GC-MS. Five compounds, namely palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid), oleic acid (9-octadecenoic acid), stearic acid (octadecanoic acid), ?-eleostearic acid (9, 11, 13-octadecatrienoic acid) and gama-linolenic acid (6, 9, 12-octadecatrienoic acid) were found to be major compounds in fixed oil obtained from the seeds of M. tuberosa fruits. Physical constants saponification value, unsaponifiable matter and acid value were found to be 182.4, 1.56% w/w and 11.44 respectively.

Objective: A Bougainvillea x buttiana (var. Rose) Holttum and Standl extract (BxbREE) was prepared and its chemical composition, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity were evaluated.Methods: For the analyses of the phytochemical compounds present in BxbREE extract, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was used. To explore the anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory activities, total phenolic contents, carbohydrates, lipids and carrageenan-induce paw edema models, respectively, were used. For in vivo experiments, the extract was orally, intraperitoneally and/or subcutaneously administered at doses of 0.04, 0.4, 4 and 40 mg/kg.Results: GC/MS analyses showed the presence of 7 compounds, including 2-Propenoic acid, 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-, (E)-(1.19%); 2-Methoxy-4-vinylphenol (0.22%); 3-O-Methyl-d-glucose (92.14%); n-Hexadecanoic acid (0.76%); Hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester (1.17%); 9,12-octadecadienoic acid, ethyl ester (1.93%); and 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, ethyl ester (Z,Z,Z) (2.59%). Phytochemical qualitative analysis showed the presence of total phenolic contents at 320 mg of Gallic acid Equivalent/gram of dried extract (GA-Eq/g extract); carbohydrates 5.18 mg/ml and lipids 13.88 mg/ml. In accordance the structures the major compound was 3-O-Methyl-d-glucose. Our results also clearly indicate that BxbREE decreases inflammation in BALB/c mice as a subplantar injection of carrageenan-induced paw edema. The extract presented a potent dose-dependent inhibitory effect. The edema inhibition percentage was significantly lower in groups of animals treated with BxbREE by via intraperitoneal or subcutaneous when compared with those results obtained for groups treated by orally administration (p<0.001).Conclusion: In conclusion, this study established the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of Bougainvillea x buttiana (var. Rose); also, this extract could be considered to be a natural anti-oxidant agent that represents an anti-inflammatory remedy.
