Background: To better primary health care and better-trained nurses, knowing the causes of cancer provides a basis for understanding the potential for prevention or early detection of the disease. Our study aimed to assess knowledge and awareness about breast, cervical and oral cancer screening amongst oncology nurses at a tertiary cancer centre. Methodology: An anonymised questionnaire based study was conducted amongst nurses at a tertiary cancer centre. We used NCG e-leaning questionnaire to assess knowledge (which includes breast, oral and cervical knowledge and awareness related questionnaire). Results: A total of 313 participants fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were enrolled in this study. Age range of participants was from 21 to 54 years (mean = 29.8; SD = 8.14). Knowledge and awareness about breast cancer were significantly associated gender (p=0.014) and marital status (p=0.00). Although, Knowledge and awareness about cervical cancer were significantly associated with gender (p=0.002) and years of experience (p=0.03). The age (p=0.001), marital status (p=0.002) and years of experience (p=<0.001) was statistically significantly associated with knowledge and awareness about oral cancer. Conclusion: Our data suggest that levels of knowledge and understanding of cervical cancer as well as its preventable nature should be improved. Continuing nurse education may contribute to strengthen cervical cancer screening programs. Nursing staff, if properly aware of this disease, can educate the masses and hence increase health-seeking behaviour in women.

The design and development of educational technologies is a complex, interdisciplinary endeavor. Learning science research reveals principles of learning and instruction, and advances in computer science implement these principles in innovative technologies. This chapter promotes a complementary discipline—human systems engineering or “user science”—that emphasizes designing with human users' goals, needs, capabilities, and limitations in mind. Systematic and iterative human systems engineering should contribute to educational technologies that are more functional, usable, desirable, and ultimately more effective. The authors overview key human systems engineering principles (e.g., usability and user experience) and methods (e.g., cognitive task analysis, contextual inquiry, heuristic evaluation, and participatory design), and then consider example applications from research on automated writing evaluation technologies. The chapter concludes with broad research questions posed to researchers, developers, and educators in the field of educational technology.

This chapter describes one science teacher educator’s attempts to integrate various educational technologies in an elementary science methods course, her students’ responses to her attempts, and the tensions that emerged. The science teacher educator employed teacher action research as a means of systematic, reflective inquiry to examine critically how preservice elementary school science teachers think about, use, and reflect on educational technologies and how their developing professional identities intersect with adoption of these technologies. Tensions emerged from a dichotomy between what methods students perceived as “traditional” science teaching and science teaching using technology. Resulting problems of practice included: expertise in/with science and negotiating a new curriculum, control in the classroom, content coverage, and support and sense of community. The authors conclude their chapter with implications and recommendations for future research related to the significant role educational technology can play in science teacher education and science teacher identity development.

We describe a new way of classifying uses of educational technologies, based on a four-part division suggested years ago by John Dewey: inquiry, communication, construction, and expression. This taxonomy is compared to previous taxonomies of educational technologies, and is found to cover a wider range of uses, including many of the cutting-edge uses of educational technologies. We have tested the utility of this taxonomy by using it to classify a set of “advanced applications” of educational technologies supported by the National Science Foundation, and we use the taxonomy to point to new potential uses of technologies to support learning.

Introduction. The article focuses on monitoring the quality of education, analyzes the shortcomings of modern models and criteria functioning in this area. The purpose of the study is to build models and develop a criterion for their implementation in the field of education, free from these shortcomings. Materials and Methods. The methodology of solving this problem is based on the integration of mathematics and pedagogy (education studies) in the wide range of interactions of educational technologies, mathematical statistics and new results obtained by the author in the field of processing the findings of educational research investigations. Results. Achieving the goal includes three problems: the first is to build models for the study of dependent and independent samples; the second is to develop a single criterion for their implementation for the constructed models (instead of 12), free from known shortcomings; the third is to test and compare with other criteria in the process of solving specific problems in the field of education. The listed problems have been solved. Conclusions. The constructed models and the specified criterion are applicable for the study of dependent and independent samples, determine the direction of change caused by the introduction of a new educational technology, generalize almost all models and criteria known in this area.

This study aimed to assess the distance-education services provided to students with learning difficulties during the Coronavirus pandemic. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher built two scales to assess distance education services that are offered to students with learning difficulties; one is from the teachers’ viewpoint and the other is from the parent's perspective. The findings showed that the degree of assessment of distance education services for students with learning difficulties during the Corona pandemic was moderate at the overall level among teachers and low among parents. There were no statistically significant differences in the teachers’ responses attributed to the variables: gender, academic qualification, and years of experience. Moeover, there were no statistically significant differences in parents’ responses attributed to the variables: the child's gender, the educational qualification of the parents and the child's age.    Keywords: Corona pandemic, students with learning disabilities, distance education.
