This article discusses the features of using the Maple package in a school math course. The school mathematics course consists of basic mathematical concepts, ideas and principles. The scientific nature of the course content and the abstract nature of the topics studied make this course difficult to study in the classroom. The current situation with the coronavirus pandemic has completely eliminated full-time education and made distance education more relevant. The share of independent work of students has increased significantly. This negatively affects the ability to read and understand very complex material. In this regard, the choice of the Maple package as a method of computer technology and its technological possibilities for the organization of independent work of students in school mathematics courses are justified. The authors of the article developed a technology of teaching using the Maple package for school mathematics courses on the basis of the South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University. This teaching method is aimed at organizing the independent work of students in the study of school mathematics. Examples of the use of the Maple package to solve some problems in a school math course are presented. Taking into account the specifics of the tasks of teaching mathematics at school, the possibilities and advantages of the technology of organizing students' independent work with the help of the Maple package are considered in detail.

Mathematical competence as a universal and fundamental competence is essential for everyone as a problem solving and life quality improving tool. It is also essential for future teachers who will implement competence based teaching processes starting from elementary schools and preschools. The goal of this research is to discuss typical errors about certain basic mathematical concepts which are taught in school. Failure to grasp these concepts cause problems for learning subsequent mathematics courses and dealing with practical problems. This research will help to improve studies at university level. Experience analysis of university educators related to oral and written answers of students in tests is used in this research. Observations show that many errors get repeated year by year.

The article presents the results of a questionnaire survey of students – future educational psychologists, which made it possible to determine the main advantages and disadvantages of the forced transition to distance education in a pandemic, and present conclusions about the possibilities and prospects of using this type of education in vocational education. The study involved 1-4 year students of full-time and part-time forms of study of the Faculty of Psychology of Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy in the amount of 289 people. The main advantages of the distance learning student are the availability of educational materials and information in the individual trajectory of passing the disciplines at any time, convenience in organizing independent work, the ability to plan their own time. The main difficulties identified by students are associated with high workload, insufficient time allotted for interaction with teachers, lack of technical capabilities for implementing the distance learning process at home. In general, students positively assessed the use of distance education and spoke about the advisability of using a mixed form – distance and fulltime education, the importance of psychological and pedagogical support for the subjects of the educational process in solving problems arising in the process of distance learning.

During the past 20 years the notion of set has been introduced into school mathematics courses not only at the secondary but also at the primary level. When one considers that neither Newton nor Gauss made any explicit use of the concept, it is rather remarkable that teachers have thought it desirable to teach the concept so early in their school courses. I should like to consider briefly some of the many possible reasons, historical and pedagogic, why “set” has become a school topic. One reason is, of course, the belief which Russell and Whitehead fostered in their Principia mathematica in the first decade of the century, that all mathematical concepts can be reduced to the concept of set. I don’t intend to discuss here the extent to which they failed to justify that belief, although I shall have occasion to mention some of the difficulties which their programme ran into. A second reason is the important part which sets have played in mathematical research this century.

The emergence of an increasing number of foreign students in Russian universities indicates the importance of the Russian higher education system in the world community. At the same time, a new problem emerged on the agenda — how to train foreigners from abroad with high quality, taking into account their different readiness in mastering the Russian language and different subject training. The article describes the problems that foreign students face when studying informatics at a pedagogical university. The combined profiles, including “Informatics”, of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Mordovian State Pedagogical Institute named after M. E. Evsevjev were the experimental research site. On the example of the “Theoretical Foundations of Informatics” discipline, the ways of teaching informatics are shown. Examples of assignments, including tasks for independent work, for teaching foreign students to informatics at the specified university are given.

The article is devoted to one of the advanced formats of foreign language teaching at high school, which effectively complements extramural and full-time forms of education – distance learning. The author emphasizes that the quality and effectiveness of foreign languages distance learning athigher educational establishments depends on effectively organized course; the pedagogical skills of teachers, participating in the educational process; the quality of applied methodical content. The main principles of foreign languages distance learning in higher education has been covered, the means of improving the quality and effectiveness of this educational format has been proposed, the key conceptual regulations of foreign languages distance learning has been determined. The article proposes a model for organizing foreign languages distance learning course for future specialists, describes a system to control and monitor the knowledge of all types of speech activities. It is also noted that independent work in the foreign languages distance course at high school should not be passive, but on the contrary, the student should be involved in active cognitive activities, not limited to acquiring foreign language skills, but necessarily includes their practical application; to solve certain communicative tasks in the future professional activity. The article concludes that in the process of organizing the foreign language distance learning course at high school, it is necessary to take into account not only the didactic characteristics and functions of multimedia and telecommunications as a technological basis, but also the conceptual trends of didactic distance learning as a component of modern education. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the specific nature of foreign language teaching in general.Key words: higher educational establishment, distance learning, multimedia means, independent work, information and communicative technologies, Internet, interactive engagement.

This paper is describes the design, development, implementation and evaluation of a preparatory training program for international medical trainees. The program was offered for one week full time shortly before they begin their residency training programs. First the paper reports on the survey and focus groups that guided the learning objectives and the course content. Next the paper describes the curriculum development phase and reports on the topical themes, session goals and objectives and learning materials. Three main themes emerged when developing the program: understanding the educational, health and practice systems in Canada; development of communication skills; and supporting personal success in residency training including self assessment, reflection and personal wellness. Sample lesson plans and handouts from each of the theme areas are illustrated. The comprehensive evaluation of the sessions and the overall program is then also described. The paper then summarizes the identified key issues and challenges in the design and implementation of a preparatory training program for international medical trainees before they begin their residency training programs. The purpose of the research is to demonstrate the productivity of using the lecturer’s training web-site of Russian as a foreign language in the preparatory courses at the University. Lecturer’s training website is an effective means stipulated with principal of consciousness and activity of scholars under the guidance of a lecturer. Training web-site as informative and communicative instrument is able to combine didactic matter, learning techniques and methods for different forms of work organization: full-time, mixed and distance; also, didactic material means educational complexes, information and communication means, control and training. An important principle underlying the proposed teaching method is the refusal to use the methods of unconscious repetition.Materials and methods. To identify the ef fectiveness in application of lecturer’s training web-site various educational platforms were used having different target and national groups. The analysis of studies on mechanical repetitions of well-known physiologists, biologists, lecturers was carried out, which allowed us to come to the conclusion about the ineffectiveness of using techniques with unconscious repetitions in the educational process. Systematic use of lecturer’s web-site in educational process shows that most effective methods and techniques are audio-visual, textual exercises from simple to complex with further audio dubbing, audio method of teaching phonetics and literacy, “lively dialogue” as a new technique in teaching Russian for foreigners, vocabulary works and differentiated approach. Observation, comparison and matching methods were applied, which helped to identify the productivity of learning with the use of multimedia. To identify scientific novelty, an empirical method was used by introducing author’s personal educational web-site project www.russian-teacher.ru with a description of observations and summarizing the results.Results. It is noted that the offered website format is innovation in the field of teaching Russian for foreigners during preparatory course. It was proved with high positive result that the use of a lecturer’s personal training website with the possibility of feedback gives good results when teaching Russian as a foreign language in a short time  at the nonlinguistic university during the period of distance learning, with a mixed form of education.Conclusion. Research using the site continues in different groups by nationality (it is possible that there are several linguistic ones), by the number (it is possible to train a group of up to 15 people), by the degree of preparation (possibly A1-B1). The site has a number of advantages: the ability to edit as needed, change the interface and generate content. The study shows how didactics is interconnected with physiology, and the lecturer’s competence includes creativity, which in modern informational conditions is considered through the use of multimedia the lecturer’s training personal website www. russian-teacher.ru.
