THE IMPACT OF EDUCATION ON KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE OF FOOD VENDORS IN ABIA STATE NIGERIA

Educational intervention on food industry personnel on hygiene has been recommended as a means of improving food handling practices and food safety. This is because human handling errors are responsible for the major outbreaks of food poisoning and food-borne illnesses in developing and developed countries. The study aim toassess the impact of education on knowledge, attitude and practice of food vendors in study Areas in Abia State Nigeria. This study adopted a quasi-experimental study research design which involved one experimental group and one control group for the selection of the 52 food handlers in the five selected Local Government Areas in Abia State. Data were collected using a pretested semi-structured interviewer administered questionnaire and an observational checklist. Descriptive analysis was done with frequencies and summary statistics, T-test and independent sample test was computed to determine the mean difference and significant relationship of variables. Level of significance was set at 0.05 significant levels.Themean knowledge score of the control group was 4.02 ± 1.55 while the mean knowledge score of the experimental group was 7.92 ± 2.50 before the intervention. The difference between the means of the two groups was statistically significant (t=9.28; p=0.000). Also, the mean attitude score was 37.58 ± 3.31 in the control while mean attitude score was 37.79 ± 5.10 in the subjects. The difference between the groups was not statistically significant (t=0.24; p=0.813). The mean practice score was 8.21 ± 2.69 in the control group while the mean practice score was 8.73 ± 4.76 in the experimental group. The difference between the groups was not statistically significant (t=0.67; p=0.506).After the intervention, the mean knowledge score for the experimental group was 9.02 ± 1.58 while that of the control group was 5.55 ± 1.54. The difference between the group was statistically significant (t= 11.03; p=0.000). The mean attitude score for the experimental group was 40.33 ± 4.10 while that of the control group was 41.81 ± 1.963. The difference between the groups was statistically significant (t=2.26; p=0.026). Educational and training programs should be implemented to influence the food vendors’ knowledge, attitude, and practice positively.

This research undertaking aimed to find out the impact of instructional technology in teaching Music. Specifically, it was framed from the following context: 1. What is the mean performance of the controlled group and experimental group after the instructional technology was used in teaching Music?;2. What is the difference in the mean performance of the control group and experimental group after instructional technology was used in Teaching music? ;The researcher employed the experimental research method specifically the between-group design. From the results of the statistical computations, the following were revealed: The experimental group visibly performed better after instructional technology was integrated in teaching music than their control group counterpart. Findings of the study revealed there was a statistically significant differences in the academic achievement between the average mark of the experimental group students and the average mark of the control group students in favor of the experimental group.

Background: Despite the great need and significance for documentation of knowledge, attitudes, and practice of speech and language pathologists (SLPs) about evidence-based practice (EBP), few studies have been performed in this field among SLPs, especially Iranian SLPs. Objectives: The present study aimed at investigating the knowledge, attitude, and practice of Iranian SLPs toward EBP. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from October to December 2019, in Iran. A valid and reliable self-administrated questionnaire (The Speech and Language Pathology Evidence-Based Practice questionnaire (SLP-EBPQ)) was used to evaluate the attitude, knowledge, and the use of evidence sections of SLP-EBPQ among 600 Iranian SLPs. Results: Four hundred twenty-two out of 600 questionnaires were returned. The mean figure of the knowledge score of the SLPs was 3.85 (± 2.8), while SLPs with postgraduate degrees scored higher in the knowledge section than those with an undergraduate degree (P < 0.001). The mean figure of the attitude score of the SLPs was 46.97 (± 4.55). Conclusions: The findings of the present study showed that SLPs in Iran have positive and favorable attitudes toward EBP with an effective application. Our findings also showed that EBP knowledge is not very comprehensive among SLPs; however, the postgraduate SLPs presented a higher EBP compared with the undergraduate SLPs.

Purpose: The concept of Pharmacovigilance (PhV) evolved to improve patient safety and the quality of provided healthcare. Community pharmacists are considered to be key players in the process of PhV and reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs).The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of community pharmacists in relation to pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reactions. Study Design: A cross sectional study. Subjects and Methods: An observational cross-sectional survey was carried out among community pharmacists in Sudan to evaluate their knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) towards Pharmacovigilance. The study was carried out between March and May 2020, including 201 community pharmacists who were selected through simple random sampling. A self-administered questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS software version 24. Results: A total of 201 community pharmacists were included in the survey. Females constituted 68.7% of the study participants. Two-thirds of the study population were between 23 and 30 years of age. The majority had a career experience between 1 and 5 years (52.2%). The mean knowledge score among males was 3.48 (± 1.51), and 3.75 (± 1.36) among females. The difference in the mean knowledge score between the two genders was not statistically significant (p-value 0.197). 73.1% showed a positive attitude towards Pharmacovigilance. The mean attitude score was higher among females (2.97 vs 2.90). However, the difference was not statistically significant (p-value 0.662). Conclusion: Community pharmacists may have a prominent role in responding to the increase of  ADR reporting if they have enough knowledge about Pharmacovigilance and how to report it. This survey showed that community pharmacists had a positive attitude about ADR but, unfortunately, many of them had insufficient knowledge.

The objective of the research was to identify the impact of the strategy of the six hats in the achievement and decision-making in the teaching methods for the third year students in the faculties of education. The researchers followed the experimental method in their research, and the number of members of the research sample (70) (35) students studied the strategy of the six hats, the control group and the number of its members (35) students studied in the usual way, and then the researchers between the two groups statistically computed in the variables: In order to achieve the goal of the research, the researchers formulated a set of behavioral objectives for the scientific material that will be studied in the experiment. They then prepared experimental plans for the experimental group in accordance with the strategy of the six hats and according to the usual method of the control group, (50), and a decision-making scale consisting of (41) paragraphs with three alternatives. The net has shown There was a statistically significant difference at the mean level (0.05) among the average scores of the experimental group that studied the strategy of the six hats. It obtained an average of (41,78), compared to the control group studied in the normal manner; In the test of achievement, as well as in the decision-making scale, the experiment obtained an average of (78,30). The control group, which was studied in the usual way, obtained an average of 61,45. The difference in the achievement test and the decision- In the light of the results of the research, the researchers recommended, among other things, the adoption of the strategy of the six hats in the Dries to its impact on the collection and decision-making.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease which spreads from one person to another which has a devastating impact on the economic well-being of the individual, their families, and the entire community. The effective engagement of all health care providers especially nursing personnel, play an important role to scale up and commensurate to their presence to achieve universal access to tuberculosis care. Majority of times, the nursing personnel were the first person to be contacted, to take care of the patients with tuberculosis. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of intensive health education on Pulmonary tuberculosis among patients with newly diagnosed Pulmonary tuberculosis from the four primary health centres as Mettupalayam, Lawspet, Reddiarpalayam and Mudaliarpet under RNTCP (April 2017-February 2018), in Puducherry. The objectives of the study is to assess the tuberculosis awareness, attitude and practice of the subjects among the experimental and control group before and after the intervention, to evaluate the effectiveness of intensive health education and to find out the association between the pretest level of tuberculosis awareness, attitude and practice of the subjects with selected demographic variables. Pre experimental study was adopted. For the purpose of this study, a total of 126 subjects of newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis were under RNTCP(October 2016 to February 2018) selected from the four primary health centres by using cluster stage sampling technique. The investigator explained the purpose of the study to the subjects. The pretest was conducted by using the interview method for all the subjects following that implementation of nursing strategies as intensive health education on health promotion and management of pulmonary tuberculosis, distribution of self-instructional module. Continuous follow up of the subjects every week till 2 months and the posttest-I was conducted by using the same questionnaire after 2 months i.e. end of the intensive phase and again posttest-II was conducted by using the same questionnaire after 6 months i.e. at the end of the continuous phase. The findings of the study as out of 126 subjects, the mean score of tuberculosis awareness score was 9.04±3.65 in the experimental group and 8.32±3.13 of them in the control group. The mean score of attitude towards tuberculosis was 28.38±4.60 and 29.72±5.05 of them in the control group. The mean level of tuberculosis awareness score in the experimental group was 9.04 during pretest and increased to 19.13 in posttest I and further increased to 21.57 in posttest II. But in the control group, the mean tuberculosis awareness score was 8.32 during the pretest and increased to 14.50 in posttest I and 14.84 in posttest II which indicated that there was an increase in the level of tuberculosis awareness score from pretest to posttest II in the experimental group which was significant at p<0.001 level. The mean attitude score in the experimental group was 28.38 during the pretest and increased to 46.80 in posttest I and 57.41 in posttest II and in the control group 29.72 during the pretest and increased to 29.19 in posttest I and 32.24 in posttest II which indicated there was increase in the level of attitude score which was statistically significant at p<0.001 level. The mean practice score in the experimental group was 13.97 during pretest and increased to 20.51 in posttest I and 24.51 in posttest II and in control group 13.51 during the pretest and increased to 18.69 in posttest I and 17.53 in posttest II. The mean values clearly indicated that there was an increase in the practice score which was statistically significant at p<0.001 level. The increased level of Knowledge, attitude and practice score which confirmed that the intervention was much effective in the experimental group when compared to the control group. The Kruskal-Wallis test revealed that there was a significant association between the tuberculosis awareness score of the subjects with selected demographic variables such as the source of information heard about DOTS was statistically significant at p<0.05 level, attitude score of the subjects with selected demographic variable as a marital status which was significant at p<0.05 level than other variables and the practice score of the subjects with gender which was highly significant at p<0.05 level. They concluded that the treatment outcome of the subjects under RNTCP was cured and the cure rate is 100% both in the experimental group and in the control group. Nursing strategies as intensive health education, self-care module along with anti tuberculosis drugs were found to be more effective in improving the tuberculosis awareness, attitude, practice of the subjects in the experimental group than the control group.

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of geometry instruction activities conducted in nature based on modeling, game-based, and cooperative learning methods on achievement, mathematical motivation, and visual mathematical literacy perceptions of third-grade elementary school students. The present study is a quantitative study conducted with a pre-test/post-test experimental design with a control group. The study was conducted with 61 students (35 students in the experimental group and 26 students in the control group). Modeling-, game-, and collaborative learning-based activities were conducted with the students in the experimental group. It was determined that the achievements of students who were instructed with modeling-based activities in geometry were high when compared to that of the students instructed with collaborative learning- and game-based methods, and those in the control group where no intervention was applied. This group was followed by the game-based and collaborative learning groups. Based on the variable of motivation, the mean motivation of the students in the modeling group was higher when compared to that of the students in the collaborative learning, game-based, and conventional instruction groups. This group was followed by the collaborative and game-based learning groups. Also, based on the visual mathematical literacy perception variable, the mean visual mathematics literacy perception of the students in the collaborative learning group was higher when compared to that of the students in the groups where the modeling, game-based, and conventional instruction methods were used. This group was followed by the modeling and game-based learning groups.

The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the cooperative learning model type student team's achievement division has on basketball shoot lay-up skills. The research method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method. The type of research design used was the non-equivalent group design. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Majalengka in 2019 totaling 424 students. The sampling technique used in this study was cluster random sampling technique. The sample in this study amounted to 214 students consisting of class XI IPS 1-4 and XI MIPA 7-8. The experimental group class XI IPS 1-2 and XI MIPA, control group class XI IPS 3-4 and XI MIPA 8. The results showed that the mean pre-test lay-up shoot of the experimental group was 4.09 while the control group was 3.92. The mean post-test shoot lay-up of the experimental group was 6.76 while the control group was 4.72. Furthermore, by looking at 95% confidence interval of the difference, there is a difference between the shoot lay-up results of the experimental group and the control group, which is -0.190 to 2.412. Thus, it can be concluded that STAD is effective in improving basketball shoot lay-up skills.

This research attempted to explore the effects of divergent and convergent tasks on the successful reading of EFL students at the preparatory stage. To verify the analysis, the null hypothesis was established that states "There are no differences of statistical significance at the level of (0,05) among the mean of scores of the experimental group who study according to divergent and convergent task technique and the mean of the scores of the control group who study according to the regular method".  The experimental approach is used by designing two equivalent experimental groups of 32 students studying the technique proposed, and an 8-week (2019-2020) control group of 32 students, three classes each week using the Google Classroom Platform and Telegram. The present study utilized the platform Google Classroom (GC) and Telegram as an educational platform to assist students during their course learning process. The writing skills test was administered after checking with the experts. The results show that there are statistical differences at level (0,05) between the average of the experimental and control groups' reading skills and those of the experimental group. This difference is because the experimental group uses divergent and convergent tasks.

Evidence shows that neonates feel pain. Treating pain of infants at the time of immunizations has become a crucial part of infant care. Pharmacological treatments are rarely used during procedures because of concerns about their effectiveness3 and potential adverse effects. Therefore, non-pharmacological interventions are valuable alternatives. Use of sucrose in preterm neonates has been advocated uniformly for pain relief. The present study had taken with the aim to assess the effectiveness of oral sucrose on level of pain during DPT immunizations among infants. Study design was quasi experimental method. Sample size of the study was 60 infants who were receiving DPT immunizations at Salem Poly Clinic. Data were collected from the subjects through Modified REILY pain assessment scale. Data analysis was done through descriptive and inferential statistics. Results of the study revealed the mean level of pain for experimental group 8.03+0.91 (53.53%) where as in control group it was 11.53+1.17 (77.53%) the difference in mean percentage was 24, which indicates decreased level of pain in experimental group than in control group. The researcher concluded that giving oral sucrose during the time of vaccination in infants acts as an effective non – pharmacological measure for pain management.

Obesity continues to be a growing problem globally among all age groups, further associated with life threatening co-morbidities. Resistant Starch (RS) as a dietary component has been recently recognized as a prebiotic with potential role in improving the bacterial ecology of human gut. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the impact of resistant starch supplementation by the obese adults in urban Vadodara on microbial changes in gut flora with respect to Bifidobacteria and Enterobacteria. Using a non randomised control trial study design, 60 obese adults were enrolled from the free living population of urban Vadodara. Baseline information was collected and subjects were classified into control (n=30) and experimental group (n=30). Experimental group was supplemented with 10 g of RS daily for the period of two months (60 days). The control group were not given anything during this period. Blood and stool samples were analysed for lipid profile and the presence of Bifidobacteria and pathogenic Enterobacteria, respectively both at baseline and after the intervention period. Results revealed a significant increase in the mean log counts of Bifidobacteria by 11.7% with no significant reduction in the mean log counts of enteric pathogens and lipid profile of subjects. Hence study concludes that a daily supplementation of 10 grams of RS for 60 days to the obese subjects improved colonization of beneficial gut microbiota in terms of Bifidobacteria, but had little effect on obesity.
