Introduction: Students are the main recipients of educational services in universities. By investigating their expectations and perceptions of educational performance, we can provide the context for program developing to improve educational quality of services. In previous studies, the quality of services was reported from the perspective of undergraduate students. Since the expectations and the type of education are various in different stages, the current study investigates the quality of educational services based on the SERVQUAL model in postgraduate and graduate students. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 321 students at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (58 bachelor, 67 masters, 58 PhD and 134 residents) by a questionnaire to evaluate the quality of educational services based on SERVQUAL model in 2018. Participants were selected by convenient sampling method and by answering the questionnaire, their opinions in five dimensions of service quality (Reliability, Responsiveness, Empathy, Assurance, Tangibles with a score range from 1 to 4 and the gap between the current situation and the desired between -3 to +3) were determined. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software version 26, paired t-test, independent sample t-test and ANOVA. Result: The results of current study indicated that there was a negative gap between students' expectations and perceptions in all five dimensions. ). In general, the largest gap was in the response dimension (-1.1 ± 0.76) and the lowest was in the confidence dimension (-0.78 ± 0.69). Among different levels of students, the largest gap  is from the perspective of undergraduate students (-1.1 ± 0.7) and the smallest gap possess to the PhD students (-0.69 ± 0.57), and the total service gap from the viewpoint of the non-native students (-1.0 ± 0.6) was higher than native students (-0.85 ± 0.67). Conclusion: According to this study, the quality of services has been lower than students' achievements in all dimensions. This requires specific planning in priority areas for quality improvement.

Abstract Background In higher education institutes, there are competitive and tussling environments to provide students with a high educational and service quality. Service quality is the key to meet or exceed student expectations. The quality of health systems, therefore; would be directly dependent on the quality of medical sciences education. In the current study, the modified SERVQUAL model was applied to assess the quality of the educational service provided at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Saudi Arabia. Methods This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study that was conducted within the Faculties of Medicine, Applied Medical Sciences, Dentistry, and Pharmacy. Through applying the modified SERVQUAL model, the gap between students' perceptions and expectations was calculated and correlated with other demographic data. The ratio of students’ perception to their expectation was calculated as a probe of student satisfaction in the current educational services to enable prioritizing items for improvement. Results The response rate was 89% (n = 266). Out of the 266 participants, 87% were females and 13% were males. Comparisons between the gap values of male and female students showed a significant difference in the assurance and responsiveness dimensions of the educational service quality at KAU. The results showed that all items have negative gap values (except item 24). The findings showed a significant difference of students’ opinion in SERVQUAL dimensions among different Faculties except in empathy. Conclusion The findings of this study showed that all dimensions were not up to the expectations of students. Reliability dimension and its items should be given the highest priority for improvement based on gap, ratio, and service improved matrix. The findings of this study will be very useful for the higher management to design the University Strategic Plan with well-defined direction and priorities for the improvement processes based on SERVQUAL outcomes.

The higher education system has important responsibilities in the development of economic, social, political, cultural and educational communities. Service quality assessment is one of the key steps in formulating quality improvement plans. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and determine the quality of educational services of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. This cross-sectional study was performed on medical students admitted to internship at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, Iran, in 2019. The sample size was census and simple sampling of all medical students in internet. The items that were incomplete questionnaires were excluded. Anova test was used to analyze the quality of education services on average. The highest mean score in the expected status section was in the guarantee section (0.6 ± 6.4) and the lowest score was in the accountability section (0.9 ± 6.1). In the perceived status section, the highest score belonged to reliability (1.1 ± 3.8) and the lowest score to empathy (1.3± 2.9). Paired t-test results were also significant in all dimensions of quality of educational services between the status perceived and expected status. In all five dimensions, there is a gap in the quality of educational services and it is not desirable in terms of educational services. The scientific level of the professors and their specialized knowledge is of high quality for the students 'education, but the low average in the empathy dimension indicates that more attention should be paid to medical students' opinions and suggestions on educational issues.

Abstract Background Pregnant women experience physical, physiological, and mental changes. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is a relevant indicator of psychological and physical behaviours, changing over the course of pregnancy. This study aims to assess HRQoL of pregnant women during different stages of pregnancy. Methods This cross-sectional study was performed using the The EuroQoL Group’s five-dimension five-level questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L) to assess the HRQoL of pregnant women, and demographic data were collected. This study was conducted in a regional university hospital in Guangzhou, China. Results A total of 908 pregnant women were included in this study. Pregnant women in the early 2nd trimester had the highest HRQoL. The HRQoL of pregnant women rose from the 1st trimester to the early 2nd trimester, and dropped to the bottom at the late 3rd trimester due to some physical and mental changes. Reports of pain/discomfort problem were the most common (46.0%) while self-care were the least concern. More than 10% of pregnant women in the 1st trimester had health-related problems in at least one dimension of whole five dimensions. In the whole sample, the EuroQoL Group’s visual analog scale (EQ-VAS) was 87.86 ± 9.16. Across the gestational stages, the HRQoL remained stable during the pregnancy but the highest value was observed in the 1st trimester (89.65 ± 10.13) while the lowest was in the late 3rd trimester (87.28 ± 9.13). Conclusions During pregnancy, HRQoL were associated with gestational trimesters in a certain degree. HRQoL was the highest in the early 2nd trimester and then decreased to the lowest in the late 3rd trimester due to a series of physical and psychological changes. Therefore, obstetric doctors and medical institutions should give more attention and care to pregnant women in the late 3rd trimester.

Dietitians as healthcare professionals could decrease their quality of life during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic period; therefore, this study aimed to compare Brazilian dietitians’ perceptions of quality of life before and during the pandemic. This nationwide cross-sectional research aimed to evaluate Brazilian dietitians’ quality of life before and in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, using a previously validated self-administered instrument WHO-QOL-BREF in Brazilian-Portuguese. The questionnaire was composed of 26 items (four domains) to evaluate life quality (physical, psychological, social relationship, and environment). The questionnaire also presented some sociodemographic variables and three questions about the COVID-19 pandemic. It was applied using GoogleForms® platform (Google LLC, Mountain View, CA, USA). For the statistical analysis of data, Paired T-test, Chi-squared test, and Analysis of Variance were used. A total of 1290 Brazilian dietitians replied to the instrument. Comparing quality of life (QoL) before SARS-COV-2 (3.83 ± 0.59) and during the pandemic (3.36 ± 0.66), data was statistically different. Comparing prior and in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, all variables and domains presented statistical differences (better before the pandemic period). Among Brazilian dietitians, the psychological health domain was the most affected. The Sars-Cov-2 pandemic negatively impacted the QoL of Brazilian dietitians since health professionals face changes in their lives because of work.
