This paper eschews normative constructions of formalized ‘online learning’ to argue that learning with ‘the internet’ is mostly vernacular, ordinary, messy and constant. It uses the example of #booktok short videos to argue that individuals frequently learn from and with peers in online spaces, where ‘peerness’ is defined broadly. The paper draws on traditions within education, media and communications research such as theories of media pedagogies that refuse to see learning as pedagogically isolated within formal learning arrangements. I build on these foundations to conceptualize how TikTok viewers learn about books and reading via ‘peer pedagogies’. ‘Peer Pedagogies’ recognizes that in digital contexts individuals often learn from other individuals, regardless of if the ‘teacher’ in the relationship is directly known to the learner, and regardless of if ‘teaching’ is intended or purposeful. For instance, peer pedagogies and learning are frequently central characteristics of the relationships that form between ‘micro-celebrities’ and their fans. The paper discusses findings from an ongoing nationally funded Australian study which is mapping the digital ecology of teen reading in Australia. The project argues that one avenue for teens to find out about books is on digital platforms via peer pedagogies. That is, teenagers may purposefully or casually learn about books and reading from everyday users and micro-celebrities on digital platforms. The TikTok #booktok hashtag is therefore being investigated to identify examples of how young people learn about books and reading via TikTok videos and associated communities.

Over the last decades, consistent research showed that voluntary work could be considered as a tool for professional development and concrete employment: volunteering could be either experienced as a desire to improve career opportunities or to acquire new skills. The study aimed to investigate voluntary work as a context of informal and non-formal workplace learning and vocational guidance, useful to develop skills and abilities, namely the capital of personal and social resources, that could promote future employability. Participants were 38 young volunteers who experienced the Universal Civil Service, a national Italian program addressed to young people aged up to 28 years, giving them both the opportunity to engage in social activities useful for the community and have the first contact with a working context. In line with the objectives of the study, participants were invited to describe their volunteering experience in a diary, highlighting if and to what extent this context contributed to enhancing their employability capital, namely the asset of skills, knowledge, and networks acquired, that they could transfer to a future professional domain. The narrative data collected were examined through diatextual analysis, a specific address of discourse analysis designed to catch the relationship between enunciators, text, and context of the talk. This qualitative analysis allowed us to investigate the meanings young people attributed to these activities. In light of these results, the paper contributed to investigate volunteers’ perceptions about the conditions that could best foster this specific kind of workplace informal and non-formal learning and at proposing a qualitative perspective on the analysis of the employability capital they developed.

Abstract:The widespread use of the Internet has facilitated that young people become sexually active on the Internet. Some studies suggest that alcohol consumption or abuse of Internet are factors that influence the practice of cybersex. For this reason, we propose this work in order to explore the relationship between these variables and cybersex. Taking a sample of 127 students 14 years old, we have found that there is a deep relationship between Internet abuse, cybersex, and different aspects of alcohol consumption. From these results, we discuss important implications for the nosological status and general knowledge of Internet sex.Keywords: Cybersex, Internet addiction, Alcohol, teenagersResumen:El uso generalizado de Internet ha facilitado que cada vez sean más los jóvenes que inician su actividad sexual en Internet. Algunos estudios apuntan que el consumo de alcohol o el abuso de Internet son factores que influyen en la práctica del cibersexo, por lo que planteamos este trabajo con el objetivo de explorar la relación entre cibersexo y las variables mencionadas. Tomando una muestra de 127 estudiantes de 14 años, se constata que efectivamente existe una profunda relación entre consumo abusivo de Internet y cibersexo, y que éstas a su vez se relacionan con distintos  aspectos del consumo de alcohol. De estos resultados se derivan importantes implicaciones para el estatus nosológico y el conocimiento general del sexo en Internet.Palabras clave: Cibersexo, adicción a Internet, alcohol, Adolescentes

In the last decade, many social networking sites and platforms are increasingly being driven by a user-generated content system. Now, users can be actively involved as a consumer and producer (prosumer) simultaneously. One of the digital platforms that has become a trend in the last decade is news aggregator. This research will examine how the control practices are carried out by the manager or administrator of UC News application, one of the largest news aggregator in Indonesia, to the content writers on the platform. The methodology that is applied in this research employs virtual ethnography to obtain representation of digital culture mediated by the internet. The data were obtained from the responses to a set of open-ended questions to six informant selected according to rate of activity in the platform and the period of involvement as a content writer in UC News. In conventional work systems, the relationship between workers and superiors often restricted by the geographical constraints. However, the development of the internet has changed many things. Clients, bosses, workers, and end-user products can be located in different corners of the planet. This research found that the controls carried out by ‘the superiors’ on content writers were not lost, but rather ran more naturally and manipulatively so that workers did not feel objected to them. The new form of capitalism in the prosumer era shows a new type of hegemony that is increasingly not simple.

It is intended an approach to the relationship of music public radio in Spain with streaming music services. The Internet provides the music industry new forms of music distribution and streaming music services have an important role in this scenario. Personalisation and immediacy may be a threat, but also it could be an opportunity for music public radio, usually associated with prescription and legitimacy. In addition, the Internet strengthens the relationship between radio and listeners and especially among young people, an aspect that has been extensively studied, but less so in relation to streaming music services. Therefore, this issue is addressed with a methodology that combines content analysis with interviews. The results show a scarce presence of music public radio in Spain on streaming music services that should be urgently solved.

The internet and telecommunications technologies have redefined distance learning, while at the same time led to increased access to students and an expanded breadth of subject offerings. For these and other reasons, online learning has been embraced by a large number of corporate, higher education, and K-12 institutions across the nation and globally, reaching billions of students. In order to understand the relationship between technologies, course design and course delivery, we conducted a survey of content designers and facilitators in higher education and corporate sectors. Additionally, we interviewed seven learning leaders who represent organizations involved in online learning in these sectors, as well as in K-12 education contexts. Results indicate that increased access is a primary strategic advantage of online learning. Additionally, corporate and educational sectors tend to approach course design and the choice of technologies in different ways.

What is the relationship between digital imaginaries and whiteness? Following recent calls to investigate the juncture between whiteness and the internet, this chapter seeks to provide a critique of imagery posted on Facebook in the aftermath of 'terror attacks' in Paris 2015. The author renders these images as structured by deep forms of white world-making, ways of thinking and feeling that reproduce whiteness as ethically superior, innocent, and in need of preserving at the cost of non-white knowledges and peoples. In this chapter, the author argues that the internet provides yet another site for whiteness to engage in white world-making by extending the white gaze to digital platforms in the service of transforming the violence of Paris into a racialised attack on white innocence. As such, the Paris images are understood as responding to and perpetuating a digital imaginary in which the political capacities of images relate to an ethics of violence to the non-white Muslim body.

In this reflective essay I revise the relationship between travel as an embodied secular journey and pilgrimage as a sacred ritual via examinations of websurfing as a form of virtual pilgrimage. My main premise is that virtual travel facilitated by the internet and through various digital platforms and collaborative social media should be considered as a novel secular form of metamovement we can approach as a pilgrimage. This pilgrimage produces multiple versions of reality ("world versions"), both in collaboration with corporate internet design and independently from it. Because such nonembodied secular engagement with other places and cultures produces online "travel" communities, digital pilgrimage prompts us to revisit John Urry's "tourist gaze" thesis and Keith Hollinshead's "worldmaking authority" in a critical fashion. Critical reconsideration of these two influential theses involves a closer inspection of metamovement for its aesthetic parameters, as well as their affording of creative connections between the mind (internalism) and the world (externalism) as a form of travel. Such connections can also assist in the production of conventional tourism mobilities.

This work examines the relationship between mass media and digital technology by following McChesney’s argument (2013) that the division on the technological optimists and technological pessimists is gaining in significance again. The debate between these two currents, which has been ongoing since the beginning of the Internet with variable intensity, has enabled many advantages and many disadvantages brought by the digital age is discussed in its “pure form''. The work is conceptualization of the following themes: the nature of the mass media, the characteristics of digital life, citizens' participation in the creation of content on digital platforms and the future of journalism, as they are seen by these two theoretical approaches.

This work is a continuation of the article on risky sexual behavior among young people. In this part, based on a review of various studies, as well as the results of their own surveys of students of schools, colleges and universities, such forms of sexually dangerous behavior as promiscuity, sexual intercourse with alcohol and drug use, child-teen prostitution are considered. It is revealed that different forms of deviant behavior and sexually dangerous behavior very often accompany each other. Teenagers having one type of problem behavior, are likely to have the others. Alcohol and drug use is a central element of risky behavior among adolescents and young people. In particular, the relationship between substance use and sexual behavior has been identified. The influence of the Internet on sexual behavior of teenagers is considered, modern types of virtual sexual activity of teenagers on the Internet and the associated risks are analyzed risks are analyzed.

Something out of a Nightmare: On Cho Seung-Hui and his Texts:This article examines the relationship between the literary texts that the Virginia Tech shooter, Cho Seung-Hui, wrote and his terrifying deeds. Some of the texts were – shortly after the shootings – accessible on the Internet. The publishing of the texts raised several discussions about whether you could predict the acts of Cho by examining his texts. While most people, often very one-sidedly, associated linked author, texts and perpetrator together, this article discusses the subject in a more balanced manner, both in relation to didactical considerations and in relation to the question about what impact literature as such has on young people today. Thus the point in the article is that Cho’s texts do not hold any signs of relief or unrestraint in spite of their violent nature, but only show intellectual poverty. The biggest tragedy in this perspective may perhaps be that creative relief finds a more suitable expression elsewhere, in actual deeds.
