Writing is regarded as a challenging subject in school. At the same time, it was a critical skill for students to master because it is so important in this age of globalization. This study aimed to find out whether or not the Flower Writing Strategy was effective to be used in teaching writing descriptive text. The quasi-experimental method was used in this study. The sample of the study was 68 students taken by using the purposive sampling technique. The data was gained by using a written test. The data were analyzed by using a t-test. Based on the result of the independent sample t-test, it was found that t-obtained (3.439) was higher than ttable (1.9955) and pvalue (0.001) was less than άvalue (0.05). It meant that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) were accepted. Hence, Flower Writing Strategy was effective to be used in teaching descriptive text.

The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in writing achievement between students who were taught through COPS strategy and that of those who were not. The sample of the study was 71 students of SMP N 1 Sungai Pinang Ogan Ilir. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample. Written test was used to collect the data which consisted of five topics. T-test was used to analyze the data. Based on the result, it was found that the t-obtained (6.450) was higher than t-table (1.950) and the àvalue (0.000) was lower than Pvalue (0.05), the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It meant that there was a significant difference in writing achievement between students who were taught by through COPS Strategy and that of those were not. Thus, COPS strategy can be used to teach writing skill.

This study tried find the students’ improvement in listening achievement after having taught by using the shadowing technique. The method used was a quasi-experimental that involved two groups, namely the control group and experimental group. The population of this study was all the tenth graders of SMA Negeri 3 Unggulan Kayuagung with a total number of 198 tenth graders. Purposive sampling method was applied to select the sample involved 72 tenth graders. In collecting the data, try out the test was used to get the desirable questions that would be used in the pretest and posttest to both groups in the control and experimental group. To verify the hypothesis, the normality and homogeneity of the data were firstly analyzed before being continued to be analyzed by using a t-test. Based on the result of data analysis in an independent sample t-test, there were some findings found. First, the mean score of a posttest (75.56) in the experimental group was higher than the pretest (69.03) in the control group. Secondly, the value of tobtained was 2.77 at the significant level of p<0.05 in two-tailed testing with df = 70, the critical value of ttable was 1.99. Since the value of tobtained was higher than ttable, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the research hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, it showed that the shadowing technique could improve the tenth-grade students’ listening achievement at SMA Negeri 3 Unggulan Kayuagung.

The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of Wholesome Scattering Game in improving students’ writing skills on descriptive text and to find out whether there is a significant difference between students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game and the students who were not. This research used quantitative approach focusing on experimental research which was conducted at SMAN 2 Sungaiselan in academic year 2019/2020. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and two classes were taken as samples, with 69 students (35 students for the control group and 34 students for the  experimental). The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. The finding showed that the students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game got higher score than those who were taught by using non-Wholesome Scattering Game. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It could be concluded that there was a significant difference between students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game and the students who were taught without using Wholesome Scattering Game.

The objectives of this research were to find out whether the use of Prezi with KWL Strategy enhances the reading comprehension and the students’ interest. This research employed quasi experimental design. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMA 2 Enrekang in academic 2017/2018. This research employed cluster random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 72 students which belong to two classes; 36 students in experimental class and also 36 students in control class. Research instruments were used to collect the data in this research namely reading comprehension test and questionnaire. The result of the students’ reading score in this research showed that the experimental class improved significantly from 69.69 up to 86.61. While, in control class the result improved from 66.22 up to 75.89. Therefore, the significant values of Independent t-test 0.000 < α = 0.05. It means that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Moreover, based on the students’ response on questionnaire showed that the mean score of interest was 80.61 and it was categorized as interested.

This study investigated the effect of the brainstorming technique to Increase Students’ Writing Skill at the Tenth Grade of MA YPI Darul Huda Lubuk Harjo. The objective of the study was to find and describe whether there any significant difference between students who are taught by using brainstorming techniques and the students who are taught by using the conventional technique to teach writing skills at the tenth grade of MA YPI Darul Huda Lubuk Harjo. Therefore, for this study writer used quasi-experimental design as the method. The population was 158 and for sample 58 students, a sample of this study used purposive sampling. In this study, the writer was collecting the data used a written test as an instrument, and it was analyzed by an Independent t-test using SPSS 16, the result showed that t –obtained was higher than t table  (6,573  >2.000), and the value of sig (2 tailed) =0.00 less than the value significance level (0,05). It meant that there were no significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. So, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and Null Hypothesis was rejected. It can be concluded that Brainstorming Technique was significant to increase students’ writing skills at the tenth grade of MA YPI Darul Huda Lubuk Harjo.

This study is based on the research which attempted to examine the effectiveness of realia in writing descriptive text by the seventh grade students. The objectives of the research were (1) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught by using realia, (2) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught without using realia, (3) also to analyze and find out whether there is significant difference between students who are taught by using realia and those taught without using realia. Quasi experimental design was used with the population of 256 seventh grade students of SMP N 4 Semarang in the academic year 2017/2018. By using purposive sampling technique, there were two classes chosen as the sample of this study; vii a and vii b. The instruments of collecting data used were tests; pre-test and post-test. After the data were collected, they were analysed using t-test. The findings were as follows: (1) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught using realia was good with the mean of the post-test was 80.21. (2) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught without using realia was adequate with the mean of the post-test was 74.44. (3) there was significant difference of the two group students. t-test 4.89 > t-table 2.00. therefore, ha was accepted that realia was effective as a media in teaching writing of descriptive text.

Abstract This research was aimed to find out whether or not the Draw Label Caption is effective toward students’ writing skill. The research was experimental research and the design used was pre-experimental with pretest-posttest design. The population of the study was the second year students of SMA Hang Tuah Mataram which consisted of one class (28 students). One class was chosen by using simple sampling technique and the result of test was distributed obtain the research data. In analyzing the data was used t-test formula. The findings showed that t-test was (4.875) > t-table (2.052) at the significant level = 0,05 (95%) and N=28 students. It means that, Alternative hypothesis (Ha) is using Draw Label Caption toward students’ writing skill at the second year students of SMA Hang Tuah Mataram in academic year 2019/2020 was accepted. It could be concluded that there was significant effect of Draw Label Caption toward student’s writing skill at second year student of SMA Hang Tuah Mataram.

This investigation deal with quasi experimental in the form non-randomize control group design or non-equivalent by purposing at finding out teaching reading through three stay one stray. The investigation used total sampling technique in determining the sample of the research. The data was taken by using test in the form of multiples choice and it analyzed by using descriptive statistic and inferential analysis. Based on the data analysis was gotten that the result of analysis shown that t-test was higher than t-table. It can be inferred that alternative hypothesis accepted and null hypothesis rejected. Therefore, it concluded that there was significant effect teaching reading through three stay one stray

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This research applied experimental design. The instrument used to collect the data was a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 second year students (grade VIII) of SMP N 1 Sei Rampah. There were nine paralel classes that consisted of 30 students. The total number of the population were 270 students. The total number of the sample were 60 students. The researcher selected the sample by choosing only 2 classes  by using sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Engage, Study, Activate technique while the control group was taught without applying Engage, Study, Activate technique. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (4.383) is higher than t-table (1.671) with the degree of freedom (df= 58) at the level significance 0.05 one tail test. It means that alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text is accepted.
