Purpose - This exploratory study investigates the human resource practices that influence employee retention, employing the case study of Albukhary International University (AIU). Design/methodology/approach- Using a non-probability sampling technique, particularly, convenience sampling, the researchers conducted six intensive individual depth interviews (IDIs) from the academics of AIU, Kedah, Malaysia.Finding - Employing content analysis of rich qualitative data, the results from the intensive IDIs led to some revelations, that in order to encourage employee retention, six recommendations should be considered; organisational strategy, career development, benefits (indirect and non-financial), convenience, organisational commitment, work experience, and fit with Job. The study also proposes that University should place emphasis on psychological contract which can directly lead to improvement in employee engagement.Implications - Several implications from the research were discussed.Value/originality- . This study is the first of its kind critically investigating the aspects of employee retention, employee engagement and psychological aspects at AIU in particular and the context of the Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia at the larger scale. The findings trigger more research interests among the current and future scholars who might be interested in this field.

Self-stigma experienced by people who experience schizophrenia has influence on reduced self-esteem, on powerlessness, the weakening of hope, and a motivation towards recovery. The aim of this study is to explain the efforts of people suffering schizophrenia to manage their self-stigma through self-control, using a case study approach. Based on the purposive sampling technique, five people with schizophrenia were selected as the cases to be studied. Data collection techniques utilized in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary studies. The analysis of the study data employed the stages of data reduction, data display, and data verification. Improvement in study quality employed the triangulation of data sources by checking the data to determine its consistency. The results of this study indicate that people with schizophrenia who have the ability to self-control can overcome self-stigma through changes in the manner of viewing themselves, self-training through activities, having endurance, having an honest approach, being able to explain schizophrenia from a positive viewpoint, having initiative, and having a positive attitude and the courage to face challenges.

Objective - The study explores the relationships between human r esource management practices on employee retention in Malaysian industrial setting s . The human resource management practices such as selection, training and development, performance appraisal and reward were considered in this study as the main factors that impact the employee retention in an organization Methodology/Technique - All d ata used in th is study consist s of respondents of executives and managers in manufacturing companies located in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Data processing and statistical analyses were mainly carried out using SPSS. Reliability test was used to check the con sistency and dimensionality of the scale items. P e a rson Intercorrelation was used to measure the associations among the human resource practices and employee retention and Multiple Regression Analysis to check the criterion - related validity of the scale i tems and to complement the correlation results. Findings - Data from 151 respondents from various industries show ed that the reward was most correlated with employee retention. This is followed by performance appraisal, in which fair and inclusive appraisa l leads to better retention. On the contrary, selection was found to have least significance relationship with employee retention. Novelty - The contribution of the study is in asserting some findings for human resource manager to understand the importanc e of an effective HRM practices on employee retention in the manufacturing industry. Apart from that, this research provides an understanding of some important elements in human resource management practices that are more effective in employee retention. Choosing a career as an Islamic teacher has many challenges as well as fun, not everyone is interested in this profession except those who have strong motivation. This study aims to find out the real motivation of students to select department of Islamic teaching education in public university, even though this department is widely offered by state and private Islamic universities. This study uses qualitative methods with a case study approach (case study design). Sources of data were taken from thirty informants through in-depth interviews selected using a purposive sampling technique, all informants were active students who chose the department of Islamic teaching education at Padang State University in 2017, 2018 and 2019. All interviews were analyzed thematically using the NVivo 10 qualitative analysis software. The results of the analysis showed that there were seven motivations of students to select department of Islamic teaching education. Those seven motivations are: i) self-will, ii) parents' encouragement, iii) choice to become a religious teacher, iv) job opportunities after graduation, v) desire to study at public universities vi) opportunity to spread dakwah, vii) to deepen Islamic knowledge. The results of this study can be used as preliminary data for subsequent researchers to examine this problem in different contexts and issues.

The issue of pension funds is not only a financial matter, but also a human resource. Pension funds do not stand alone, but are assumed to be related to other human resource (HR) variables. Starting from this background, this study aims to examine the effect of the occupational pension scheme (OPS) and retirement intentions (RI) variables partially on employee productivity (EP) directly or through employee engagement (EE), the effect of OPS on RI, and the effect of OPS on EP through RI. Post-positivist is the research paradigm, with a quantitative research approach, with explanatory causal types and statistical studies. Dapenma-Pamsi is selected as the location of this research and we choose the Joint Pension Fund of municipal waterwork which are located in six provinces in Java Island. The sampling technique for this study was proportionate stratified random sampling, with a total sample of 500 active Dapenma-Pamsi participants in six provinces in Java. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1-7. The data analysis technique used SEM-AMOS. The results of the study are supported by ten research hypotheses. The novelty of this research is the integration of variables rooted in the discipline of financial management and variables from the discipline of human resource management. This research is also could help Indonesia Government foster the growth of Private Pension Fund Program in Indonesia.

Using a niche service provider, Zforce Government Solutions (ZGS), this case provides the reader with a first-hand examination of the organizational issues resulting from ineffective recruiting, retention, and succession planning, allowing for the acknowledgment of the coherent, interdependent, and interrelated relationship between the aforementioned topics. This case study performs a revelatory assessment of ZGS's application of Harvard's Soft HRM model and fundamentals of key issues reflecting organizational mismanagement of human talent, where human talent is vital to organizational continuity. Written from the vantage point of a previous ZGS senior management employee, this case study utilizes a qualitative research approach, with empirical data gathered from four in-depth interviews conducted with previous ZGS leadership employees. Ultimately, the case study is intended to induce reader-reflection on the various components of importance in talent management, which play a significant role in accomplishing employee loyalty and employee retention.

Purpose This paper aims to theoretically proffer and empirically evidence five inter-related high performance working (HPW) groupings of value to practitioners interested in developing HPW in their organizations. Design/methodology/approach The empirical research is based on three UK-based qualitative case studies. Data are drawn from nine in-depth interviews with managers (three from each case) and three subsequent focus groups (one in each case). Focus groups comprised six, eight, and four employee (non-manager) interviewees. Findings The empirical findings validate the theoretical importance of the five identified HPW groupings. More, they imply a number of relationships within and between the five groupings, confirming the need to view the groupings collectively and dynamically. Originality/value The five HPW groupings provide a foundation for further research to closely evaluate the dynamism within and across the groupings. They also offer practical types of human resource interventions and actions for practitioners to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of HPW in their organizations.

Role of posyandu cadres in empowering the community of BintanPurposeThis study aimed to determine the role of posyandu cadres in empowering the community in Kawal village, Gunung Kijang district, Bintan regency.MethodsThis study used a qualitative method with a case study design and purposive sampling technique, with the cadres of posyandu. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews and focus group discussion (FGD), with triangulation of sources and methods.ResultsThe role of cadres are as a health motivator, with the extension officers of the health and medical services as well as cadres being able to identify the needs, barriers and help to coordinate in providing health services.ConclusionPosyandu cadres have high social spirit created by the combination of internal and external motivation, resources and potential as well as experience developing ability, with the social spirit capable of inspiring, activating, stimulating, mobilizing and motivating people.

<p>The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with case study design. Data collection was conducted by the researcher himself as a key instrument, whereas for determining the human data source using snowball sampling technique. Data was collected by means of; (1) in-depth interviews; (2) participant observation; and (3) study the documentation. For data analysis using descriptive techniques whose application is done in three flow of activities, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. To determine the credibility of the data, conducted by a variety of techniques, namely (1) triangulation; (2) checking colleagues; and (3) checking members.</p>
