Cat fish exploit a large diversity of both plant and animal protein, and adapt harsh environmental conditions as they have the ability to take atmospheric oxygen. Marine catfish tolerate a broad range of salinities between Open Ocean and fresh water. The entire catfishes have soft as well as scaleless body, are greatly appreciated by consumers and maintain healthy in both fresh and dried condition. In this review article various aspects of cat fish has been discussed.

Biopolymers are compounds prepared by using various living organisms, including plants. These are composed of repeated units of the same or similar structure (monomers) linked together. Rubber, starch, cellulose, proteins and DNA, RNA, chitin, and peptides are some of the examples of natural biopolymers. Biopolymers are a diverse and remarkably versatile class of materials that are either produced by biological systems or synthesize from biological sources. Biopolymers are used in pharmaceutical industry and also in food industry.Naturally derived polymers are also used for conditioning benefits in hair and skin care. Biopolymers have various applications in medicine, food, packaging, and petroleum industries. This review article is focused on various aspects of biopolymers with a special emphasis on role of biopolymers in green nanotechnology and agriculture.

This paper provides a comprehensive review of the environments where freshwater sponges occur and evaluates the use of sponge spicules as a proxy in paleoenvironmental studies in the Neotropical region. The paper aims to: I) review the information about the ecology of inland sponges to facilitate the use of spicules as a paleoenvironmental tool; and II) identify possible incongruities in the use of this information in paleoenvironmental reconstructions that have been conducted in Neotropical regions. The study compiled data on 77 sponge species, specialist or generalist that occur under certain environmental conditions, such as: substrate type for growth, hydrodynamic types, as well as salinity and acidity concentrations. In addition, it provides a comparison of the paleoenvironmental conditions applied to reconstruction studies that have been carried out within this biogeographic region, highlighting incongruities regarding the current ecology of the sponges.

Current and past Coast Guard research and development interest in oil spill containment and cleanup can generally be categorized as concerned with severe environmental conditions and rather large spill volumes. Problem areas receiving attention at this time include recovery of oil in fast currents, pollution response in ice-infested regions, open-ocean pollution response, disposal, and pollution prevention. Each of these problems is at a different stage of development. The scope of the problem and the nature of USCG efforts vary substantially, and this note briefly outlines its interest and activities.

The waters of Hudson bay differ markedly from the waters of Hudson strait and the waters of the open ocean. Intense stratification in the upper twenty-five metres, decreasing as the waters of the open ocean are approached, gives Hudson bay the character of a large estuary. Below fifty metres the waters are for all purposes dynamically dead, thus resulting in a cold saline body of water which probably undergoes very little change from season to season. The movements of the waters at various levels are dealt with to show that the inflow of waters from Fox channel and the many fresh-water drainage areas control the hydrographic conditions as found. The main water movement is from the James bay area to Hudson strait and thence to the open ocean.

The oxygenation of the atmosphere — one of the most fundamental transformations in Earth's history — dramatically altered the chemical composition of the oceans and provides a compelling example of how life can reshape planetary surface environments. Furthermore, it is commonly proposed that surface oxygen levels played a key role in controlling the timing and tempo of the origin and early diversification of animals. Although oxygen levels were likely more dynamic than previously imagined, we make a case here that emerging records provide evidence for low atmospheric oxygen levels for the majority of Earth's history. Specifically, we review records and present a conceptual framework that suggest that background oxygen levels were below 1% of the present atmospheric level during the billon years leading up to the diversification of early animals. Evidence for low background oxygen levels through much of the Proterozoic bolsters the case that environmental conditions were a critical factor in controlling the structure of ecosystems through Earth's history.

Ocular parasitosis in human is more prevalent in geographical areas where environmental factors and poor sanitary conditions favor the parasitism between man and animals. Lesions in the eye can be due to damage directly caused by the infectious pathogen, indirect pathology caused by toxic products, or the immune response incited by infections or ectopic parasitism. The epidemiology of parasitic ocular diseases reflects the habitat of the causative parasites as well as the habits and health status of the patient. An ocular examination may provide clues to the underlying disease/infection, and an awareness of the possibilities of travel-related pathology may shed light on an ocular presentation. This paper is a comprehensive review of the parasitic diseases of the eye. The majority of the clinically important species of parasites involved in eye infection are reviewed in this paper. Parasites are discussed by the disease or infection they cause.

Abstract Grounding electrode resistance non-linearly changes under impulse conditions due to soil ionisation phenomenon. Several models have been proposed to model soil ionisation for grounding electrodes applications. However, to date, there is yet an attempt made to compile all these works into a comprehensive review article. Therefore, this paper is written with the objective of summarizing all related works in this field as a one- stop reference. With reference to the literature, this paper is written to summarize the working principles of the soil ionisation models as well as the accuracy and performance analysis of the models. This paper, particularly highlights the deficiencies of the available models in terms of accuracy and performance. This knowledge will contribute to the development of a new accurate and efficient soil ionisation model.
