This study was conducted to analyze postgraduate theses in the field of environmental education in preschool education in Turkey between 2011 and 2020 in terms of their distribution, levels (doctorate, master’s), sample groups, and data collection tools. To establish the theses written in the field, the Higher Education Council National Thesis Centre database was reviewed on April 16th, 2020. Care was taken to determine postgraduate theses according to the criteria of having been conducted on environmental education with preschool children, preschool teachers/prospective preschool teachers and families, having been conducted on the subject area of education and training, having been registered to YÖK National Thesis Centre with permission for access. In line with these criteria, a total of 12 postgraduate theses were included in the study. The data were accessed using the document analysis technique. Detailed information about the postgraduate theses was collected using a “Postgraduate Thesis Examination Form.” Postgraduate theses included in the study were examined under the headings of thesis year, thesis type, objective, study group, methods, and designs, and data collection tools and frequency (f) were used in the analysis of data. When the distribution of postgraduate theses studies was conducted in terms of thesis type, it was found that the number of masters’ theses (n=8) was much higher than the number of doctoral theses (n=4), there was a large increase in the number of theses in 2015, the theses were mostly doctoral (n=3), and children mostly featured in the postgraduate thesis studies conducted within the specified dates..

This research is a qualitative study to determine the opinions of preschool teachers and pre-service teachers on environmental education and environmental awareness for sustainable development. The phenomenology approach, which focuses on individuals’ own experiences and the meaning of a phenomenon, was used in this direction. The study group of the research consisted of 68 preschool teachers and 72 pre-service preschool teachers. In the study, a semi-structured interview form consisting of open-ended questions was used as a data collection tool. The content analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the interview form. According to the research results, it can be said that pre-service teachers have more theoretical knowledge than teachers and teachers have more practical knowledge than pre-service teachers. This can be explained by the fact that the knowledge that pre-service teachers obtain at university is quite new, they spend more limited time with children within the scope of applied courses, teachers communicate much more with children every day and they are more distant from theoretical knowledge. Furthermore, it can be said that teachers and pre-service teachers are sensitive towards environmental problems, interested in environmental education, willing and open to development.

The main aim of this study was to qualitatively analyze preschool teachers’ opinions about the aggressive behaviors of children in the classroom. The phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. 46 preschool teachers selected by the maximum diversity sampling method constituted the study group. The data of the study were collected using the semi-structured interview technique, and the data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique. According to the results of the study, preschool teachers generally described the aggressive behavior as “damaging friends,” mentioned that the type of aggression they mostly encountered in the classroom was “physical aggression” and stated that the most important factor affecting aggression in the preschool period was “parental attitudes.” Furthermore, preschool teachers indicated that aggressive behaviors generally emerged “during game activities,” that the communication of children exhibiting aggressive behaviors with their peers was usually negatively affected, and that they mostly used the “verbal warning” and “punishment” method to cope with aggressive behaviors in the classroom, however, they also emphasized that they felt inadequate in coping with aggressive behaviors. The activities that will allow children to express themselves and their feelings, to properly communicate with their surroundings and to get rid of their energy can be included in preschool education institutions. Teachers can be provided with applied in-service training seminars on how they can cope with aggressive behaviors and what kinds of effective methods they should use. Furthermore, it is also considered useful to organize information seminars on how parents should approach their children’s aggressive behaviors.

Abstract Inclusion is a compulsory educational practice for preschool children with disabilities in Turkey. In this article, first, the definition of inclusion is provided. Second, the benefits of inclusion are summarized using the international literature. Third, a summary of studies conducted in Turkey in relation to inclusive preschool education is presented followed by a description of the legal basis for inclusion in Turkey. The research focused on inclusive preschool education in Turkey was examined under five categories: (1) opinions and attitudes of preschool teachers and teacher candidates towards inclusion, (2) classroom practices, (3) social skills, (4) research summaries and literature reviews and (5) other studies. An examination of these studies has shown that preschool teachers and teacher candidates have positive attitudes towards inclusion, but they need more information for successful implementation of inclusion. Moreover, preschool teachers implement certain practices with respect to in-class transitions, however, they need more support to apply all recommended practices noted in the literature. In addition, social skills programs provided to children with special needs were beneficial. Recommendations for future practice are presented at the end of the paper.

Educational robotics have become popular worldwide with a broad range of students, including preschoolers. Although the impact of robotics technology in classrooms has been extensively studied, less is known about preschool teachers' perceptions of how robotics technology impacts learning and its relation to use in the classroom. This is problematic since we know that teachers' perceptions have a great influence on their teaching practices. This study used survey data gathered from 102 students of the Department of Preschool Education in a University in Greece. A questionnaire developed by the researchers were used as data collection tool. At the end of the study, it was determined that preservice preschool teachers' attitudes about educational robotics usage in preschool classrooms were positive although they lack in relevant knowledge. These findings are discussed with respect to their educational implications.

Music education in preschool period is of capital importance to allow individual to use basic education and develop positive attitude to music. The reason is that preschool education provides rich-stimulant environments that are suitable for development level and personal characteristics of early-aged individuals, and helps them to develop themselves in mental, physical, emotional and social terms, and also braces them for primary education. For this reason, the quality of musical activities by preschool teachers and the difficulties become crucial. This study, as a qualitative research, has focused on 20 teachers, commissioned in official preschool institutions in Trabzon-City Centrum during 2013-2014 education period, and it's been determined that teachers experience the difficulties due to musical activity applications, characteristics of teachers and in-service education needs.
