This article reports on the edaphic beetle diversity and abundance study conducted on the teritory of the Republic of Moldova during 2005 and 2014 in forest ecosystems located near Branzeni and Zabriceni. All insects were collected using pitfall traps techniques. In total, 1620 beetle specimens were collected, representing 31 species from 17 genera and 4 families. The largest family was Carabidae, followed by Silphidae, Scarabaeidae and Lucanidae. Carabidae also represented the greatest proportion in terms of number of individuals. Seventeen species were common in all investigated forest ecosystems. The most abundant and dominant for all ecosystems investigated proved to be the species Nicrophorus vespilloides. Of the rare beetle species in the investigated forests have been reported species Carabus ullrichi and Lucanus cervus both with the status of vulnerable species.

Within our research, the air quality of 62 forest ecosystems from Republic ofMoldova was assessed, taking into consideration the lichens indicator speciesspecific diversity, abundance and toxitolerance. It was established that theMoldavian forest ecosystems do not contain reserves concerning critical loads forSO2 pollution, the annual average for the vegetation season for dendrologicalspecies being 0,02 mg/m3 air, and for communities of lichens and cyanobacteria, organisms sensitive to pollution, represented only 0,01 mg/m3. Lichen indicationdemonstrated that the current level of pollution is between 0,05 and 0,5 mg/m3 SO2air, thus long-term harmful effects are manifested in all 62 studied forestecosystems and the ecosystems from the eco-tone zone. We believe that for theRepublic of Moldova lichen, indicator species can provide a scale of 6 levels: 5levels characterized by species with different toxitolerance degree and the last stepbeing an area in which lichens are completely missing, thus the most polluted area.Within the Republic of Moldova territory, there were reported 3 forest ecosystemsin which the air is evaluated as clean air, 11- low polluted air, 31- moderatepolluted air, 12- polluted air, 3- high polluted air and those with critical polluted airwas missing.

The Republic of Moldova has few wet areas. One of them was designated in the year 2000 with the status of Wetland of International Importance (Ramsar). The ecosystems of lakes and ponds are home to a multitude of bird species. Aquatic and semi-aquatic species make up a major component of the studied sector and consists of 94 species. Thousands of specimens transit the area during spring and autumn migrations; others retreat in the winter to be safe and to feed; the summer guests arrive in the warm period of the year to breed. Out of the total number of aquatic and semi-aquatic birds, 26 species are protected nationally and internationally. During the study period, rare or accidental species were recorded, such as: Bubulcus ibis, Cygnus columbianus, Branta ruficollis, Grus grus, Sterna caspia, Arenaria interpres, Larus ichthyaetus etc.

The article is dedicated to relations between Ukraine and Moldova, taking pride of place in the foreign policy of Ukraine. This is due to a shared border, large ethnic community of Ukrainians in Moldova, similarity of foreign policy priorities, and development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Ukraine is an active stakeholder in the negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict and has the status of a mediator. Ukraine seeks to develop mutually beneficial relations with the Republic of Moldova based upon respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both states. The bilateral cooperation of the two countries can be found in the spheres of environment, transport, energy, infrastructure, implementation of domestic reforms, and efficient struggle against corruption. An opening of a border bridge crossing for vehicles and prospective construction of a bridge are the steps enabling Ukraine and Moldova to enter the European transport network. An important upshot of the diplomatic activities is the consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine by the Republic of Moldova. The external aggression notwithstanding, Ukraine continues to take proactive measures in the negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict. The common origins of the latter and of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation bring about the necessity to combine forces and form common approaches for their settlement as well as jointly counter regional threats and challenges. The protection of rights of national minorities is yet another important aspect of bilateral relations. Ukraine has an interest in a socially and politically stable Moldova with a prosperous economy able to follow its policy of integration to the EU. Keywords: The Republic of Moldova, policy on integration to the EU, territorial integrity, domestic reforms, corruption.

A pitfall survey of beetles in steppe ecosystems of the Republic of Moldova was conducted. Five locations were investigated, two from the Balti steppe and three from the Bugeac steppe. As a result, a total of 563 beetle specimens, belonging to 98 species, 51 genera, and 15 families were collected. Among families recorded Carabidae was the one with the highest number of species. The ecological features of collected beetle species were revealed. The results show that steppes are still important biodiversity reservoirs within the boundaries of the country and urgent conservation activities are required.

The analysis of the problem of false news and other media constructions is based on quantitative research, which shows the distribution of published materials in Chisinau and the Russian Federation. In these media, the materials addressed the topics regarding the events on the Dniester in 1992 in a negative, neutral or positive way. The qualitative research aims to describe the content of the articles divided into separate thematic blocks, sub-themes, and representation sections. The media construction of the events of the Dniester War in 1992 in the written and online press in the Republic of Moldova is contradictory. The Russian press and the left-wing press contribute to the false and erroneous perception that the phenomenon is known as „Transnistrian conflict” is a civil one, and that it is not Russia but Transnistria that is a „party” to the conflict, that Russia has the status of a neutral mediator and guarantor of the agreements between the parties and the provisions of the Memorandum on normalizing relations between the Republic of Moldova and Transnistria signed in 1997 in Moscow.

Abstract The purpose of this research consists in the elucidation of spatial and economic aspects of the water use in the Prut river basin. The main topics presented in this paper are: 1) the dynamics of water use; 2) spatial and branch profile of water use and its dynamics: 3) existing problems in the evaluation and monitoring of water use; 5) efficiency of the implementation of economic instruments of water management. To achieve these objectives were used traditional methods of geographical and economic research. Also, the content of the present study is focused on the methodology to elaborate the management plans of hydrographical basins and their chapters on the status of water resources and water bodies and on economic analysis of water use in the Prut river basin.
