This paper presents the results of mobile application which helps in preventing mobile phone accidents to the great extent. An electronic circuit (Transmitter and Receiver block) also designed to detect the driver’s mobile phone automatically once he or she starts the vehicle and the circuit will switch OFF and then ON the mobile phone without human intervention with the help of 5 pin relay in order to start the application automatically. The authors further extend the research by comparing the obtained results after installing this application with a recent study of the US National Safety Council, conducted on 2010. The authors also show how far this application helps in reducing economic losses in India.

Touch can create a feeling of intimacy and connectedness. This work proposes feelabuzz, a system to transmit movements of one mobile phone to the vibration actuator of another one. This is done in a direct, non-abstract way, without the use of pattern recognition techniques in order not to destroy the feel for the other. The tactile channel enables direct communication, i. e. what another person explicitly signals, as well as implicit context communication, the complex movements any activity consists of or even those that are produced by the environment. This paper explores the potential of this approach, presents the mapping use and discusses further possible development beyond the existing prototype to enable a large-scale user study.

3D-MID (three dimensional molded interconnect devices) technology (which is already broadly used for 3D-MID mobile phone antennas) is also used for MEMS packaging and sensors applications. 3D-MID allows miniaturization by the integration of mechanical and electronic functions in one part. The 3D electronic circuit is integrated into a 3D plastic casing or carrier, making it possible to achieve much more compact construction and much greater function density. More and more applications involving electrical and electro-optical circuits are made using 3D-MID technology. Typical 3D-MID applications are: Sensor packaging, LED packaging, security casings, RFIDs and Antennas. The main areas of application are in the automotive, medical, industrial technology and telecommunications sectors.

The effect of anomalous pathway (AP) location and conduction time on the cycle length (CL) and sustainability of paroxysmal A-V reentrant tachycardia was studied in 15 dogs, using an anomalous pathway simulator (APS). The APS was a programmable digital electronic circuit with ability for unidirectional conduction, ventricular sensing, adjustable delay, and atrial stimulation. Contiguous pairs of ventricular sensing electrodes were placed along the A-V ring in each dog at the following sites: anterior, posterior, and lateral right (AR, PR, and LR) and anterior, posterior, and lateral left (AL, PL, and LL) and septal (S). There were significant differences in the CL of tachycardias among the tested sites (P less than 0.01). The CL of tachycardias from the LL site was significantly longer and from the PR site significantly shorter than that from the other sites (P less than 0.05). These differences in CL of tachycardias in relation to the AP location were explicable in terms of corresponding variation in conduction times of the various components of the tachycardia circuit (e.g., intra-atrial, A-V nodal, intraventricular conduction times). The differences in magnitude of the CL of tachycardias, although significant, were small. It was also found that all sites allowed maintenance of tachycardias up to an AP conduction time of 10 ms. In 27% of experiments, atrial refractoriness prevented sustained tachycardias at pathway delays of 1 ms. The relationship between AP conduction time and CL of tachycardias was exponential.

Aluminum dross is the staple solid waste in electrolytic aluminum industry. Taking full advantage of the aluminum dross is of great significance for controlling environmental pollution and saving resource. In this work, brown fused alumina is successfully prepared using aluminum dross as raw material through different pretreatments for aluminum dross. The results show that the brown fused alumina product is comprised of α-Al2O3 (ca.95%), NaCl (ca.1~3%) and CaF2 (ca.1~3%), and contents of the other components are as follows: MgO 0.33%, SiO2 1.12%, Fe2O3 0.41%, CaO 0.58%, TiO2 0.13%, K2O 0.05%, Na2O 0.87% and V2O5 0.92%. This quality of the resulting brown fused alumina can fully meet the national standards of China (GB/T 2478-2008).

Escherichia coli. Mesófilos. Psicrófilos. AbstratHomemade sausage is well accepted and sold in Brazil. Even ready for consumption, can present some pathogenic microorganisms, characterizing possible failure in its hygienic-sanitary control. This study aimed to investigate the hygienic and sanitary conditions in homemade sausages commercialized in Teresina, PI, and check the temperatures required to inactivate the existing microbiota in sausages. 10 butcher shops were used  in Teresina-PI that sell homemade pork sausage, collecting samples of 400 grams each and transported to the Food Microbiology Laboratory of NUEPPA / CCA / UFPI, where the following analysis was held: heterotrophic mesophilic bacteria, psichrophilic, coliforms at 37 ºC and E. coli. The homemade sausages were analyzed according to agreed national standards, and for E.coli 10.0% of the samples showed high values, however  there is no parameter for this bacterium.  The  sausage "in natura" achieved the highest levels of coliforms, E. coli, mesophilic and psichrophilic with the other treatments. The domestic refrigeration did not inhibit the growth of coliforms, E. coli and mesophilic psichrophilic. The cooking reduces bacterial counts, though it does not inactive the bacteria. The six-month period freezing inactivates  E.coli and psichrophilic and reduces the mesophilic and coliform count. Keywords: Coliforms. Escherichia Coli. Mesophilic. Psychrophiles

The other day, while Slop was dreaming up a theme for his next article in the Bulletin, his mobile phone went off. It was set to a maximum volume version of Lily Marlene, which meant that his Editor, whose office was adjacent, was rudely woken from his postprandial nap.

The aim of this study is to investigate the use of WhatsApp application in anonymous peer assessment in higher education. The mobile phone application WhatsApp was used as both an anonymous and nonanonymous peer assessment tool in a classroom environment. The participants of the study were the students of two classes (sophomores and juniors), half of which were assigned to the anonymous peer assessment group and the other half to the nonanonymous peer assessment group for each class. The members of the anonymous groups used the personal messaging function of WhatsApp for assessment, whereas the nonanonymous groups used the group chat function of the application. WhatsApp was confirmed to be a valid tool for peer assessment, and it was shown that the required anonymity of the method was appropriate for the task. The students' perceived attitudes toward the procedure were found to be rather high, with no significant difference identified between the sophomores and junior groups related to the procedure.
