The objective of this research is to examine the aspects of Information System (IS) strategies, Business Intelligence, and Analytics (BI&A) used to enhance firm performance. The main purpose of this study is to assess the influence of IS strategy, BI&A impact on firm performance as well as to demonstrate the association of innovation ambidexterity between BI&A and firm performance. Statistically analyzed results were based on data obtained from a survey questionnaire filled out by 322 Indonesian, China, Japan, and Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises employees. The findings revealed that IS strategies, business intelligence, and analytics use have a significant influence on firm performance. The findings also revealed that innovative adaptability is a mediating factor in the favourable relationship between BI&A use and business success. All of the hypotheses were supported and the partial least squares method was used to test them.

In spite of recognized significant contribution of SMEs to nations’ economy, Nigerian SMEsperformance is below expectation. This is because SMEs in Nigeria today faces severe limitationsin financing, management skill, marketing, modern technology and technical expertise. Theobjective of this study is to investigate the mediating role of access to finance on the positiverelationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO), market orientation (MO), learningorientation (LO), technology orientation (TO) and SMEs performance in Nigeria. A sample sizeof 522 SMEs operating in Kano, Kaduna and Sokoto states of Nigeria were selected usingstratified simple random sampling techniques. Partial Least Squares-Structural EquationModelling was used to analyze the data. Hence, the data analysis was conducted using SmartPLS3.0. The results of path analysis indicate that access to finance mediates the positive relationshipbetween MO, LO, TO and the performance of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria. This isan important additional explanation for the existence of the relationship between these strategicorientations and firm performance. The results further suggest that SMEs need to use theirstrategic activities to improve their ability to obtain finances in order to perform well. Purpose- The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of financial constraints on firm performance. The role of financial development in reducing financial constraints is also investigated. Design/methodology/approach- Data from two waves of World Bank Enterprise Surveys from 2007 to 2013 was used to construct the required variables. A balanced sample of 427 firms was selected and a fixed-effect model was used for empirical estimations. Findings- The findings indicate the significance of access to finance in terms of explaining firm performance. Improvement in access to finance led to subsequent improvement in firm performance as measured by labour productivity. The role of financial development in reducing credit constraints is not as expected. The concentration of lending to the private sector in the hands of large corporations at the expense of small and medium enterprises could be the reason for such a result. Originality/value – Most of the work in this area is focused on large listed firms. The present study focused primarily on small and medium-sized enterprises in Pakistan. Multiple measures of financial constraints and firm performance were used for robustness. The investigation also covers the role of financial development and its microeconomic implications at the level of an enterprise.

The negative effects of entrepreneurial activities on the environment should not be disregarded.  Sustainable entrepreneurship has been recognized as a  strategy in rectifying environmental issues through entrepreneurial activities.   However, developing sustainable entrepreneurs is still in its infancy stage in Malaysia. Most of Malaysia’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) still regard it as a new practice and not many of them have actually embarked on it. As such, this study investigated the formation process of intention towards sustainable entrepreneurship through individual orientation and individual perception.  This study surveyed  404  SMEs owner-managers in Malaysia through self-administered questionnaires. The results indicated that individual orientation positively and significantly related to intention towards sustainable entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the results also showed a significant partially mediating the role of individual perception between individual orientation and intention towards sustainable entrepreneurship. This study contributed to the literature by confirming that the formation process of intention towards sustainable entrepreneurship was successfully influenced by two important determinants, namely individual orientation, and individual perception. Practically, it highlighted some crucial factors in promoting sustainable entrepreneurship among SMEs in Malaysia. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to identify the role of market dynamism in the relationship between market orientation and the performance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating in technology parks (TPs) in Poland. Methodology: The two methods used for performing the quantitative empirical research are CAWI and PAPI. The research sample included MSMEs operating in technology parks in Poland. The article is the answer to the needs for systematic research of models between market orientation and firm performance. Findings: The research findings provide an insight into the level of market orientation and performance of the analyzed MSMEs operating in technology parks in Poland. It was found that MSMEs in the research sample were not a homogeneous group in this respect. It has been proven that market orientation is a significant stimulant of firm performance, while market dynamism has not been classified as a moderator of the market orientation–firm performance relationship. Implications for theory and practice: This study contributes to strategic management by identifying the key role of market orientation for enterprises wishing to benefit from this type of strategic orientation. The important role of the predictor – market orientation in shaping the results of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises operating at TPs in Poland has been proven. In practice, this means that increasing the level of market orientation is conducive to increasing positively assessed financial performance. Originality and value: Our research carried out at MSMEs operating in technology parks in Poland enriches and supplements knowledge about market orientation as a phenomenon of universal character because it also applies to smaller sized business organizations.

Micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) is one important part of the economy of a country or region. This important role has encouraged many countries including Indonesia to continue to develop UMKM. Although small in scale the number of workers, assets and turnover, but because of the large enough amount, the role of UMKM is quite important in supporting the economy. The success of UMKM is a factor supporting the improvement of various businesses, both micro, small and medium enterprises, especially in Gresik City. This study aims to determine the effect of entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and business location on the business success. of UKM. The method used in this research is quantitative method, the population of this research is 51 UKM. The analysis techn ique used is multiple linear regression analysis followed by t test with significance level 0,05. The results showed that the entrepreneurial spirit , creativity and business locat ions individually and simultaneous significantly affect the business success.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of social capital in development of small and medium enterprises in Peshawar Valley. Relational capital such as business relational capital and social relational capital is used as tools of social capital. Firm performance is measured using attributes like profitability and future viability. A cross sectional, descriptive and analytical research design is adopted using a representative sample of 169 manufacturing weavers. Data is collected using a self-administered questionnaire. The findings reveal a significant and positive relationship between relational capitals, firm performance. It is recommended that investment in social capital improves firm performance with a positive impact on wellbeing of overall community. Therefore, managers should intensify initiatives to encourage greater understanding and acceptance on relational capital elements, employ a viable relational capital composition that includes building strong social relational ties with the community and government and pay attention to customers and employees in order to identify their needs and provide them with optimal values. This is likely to increase firm performance and development the small and medium enterprises.

PurposeDeveloping countries’ economic growth very much depend on the successful performance of entrepreneurial-oriented firms. Entrepreneurial orientation (EO) is a valuable conjecturer of firm success. This study mainly focuses on analyzing the effect of EO on the firm performance (FP) with the mediating role of absorptive capacity (ACAP).Design/methodology/approachTo test the hypothetical model, we collected 226 valid responses from senior managers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The structural equation modeling technique is performed and research hypotheses are validated.FindingsThe findings show that the strong causal relations exit between EO, ACAP and FP. In brief, EO was found to be a predictor of ACAP, and ACAP has a strong positive impact on FP. Moreover, ACAP substantiated to be a mediator between EO and FP.Research limitations/implicationsA notable ramification of this finding is that for SMEs to enhance their performance via EO, the presence of ACAP as a mediator is essential.Practical implicationsThe findings of this study can be used as a basis to consider EO to increase firms' level of ACAP and to enhance FP. As a whole, the findings offer pragmatic insights for SMEs and pertinent stakeholders.Originality/valueSo far, little is known about the interrelationship between EO, ACAP and FP. Importantly, the mediating role of ACAP between EO and FP has remained unexplored. This study fills this gap in the existing literature.
