This research aims at developing Peer-Asissted Learning Program (PALP) Modul for PBI UAD Students at Second Semester. Since the purpose of the research is developing an instructional module, this research belongs to research and development. There were some steps conducted in this research which were conducting needs analysis, formulating the instructional design, arranging the modul, validating the modul, revising the modul, applying the modul, and evaluating the use of the modul. Then, the instruments used in this research were interview guideline and questionnaires. The interview guidelines were used in conducting needs analysis while the questionnaires were used in validating and evaluating the modul. Next, there were two types of data gained from this research, qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were analyzed descriptively while quantitative data were analyzed through Likert scale and the use criteria percentage. The subject of the study were 12 of board PALP, 30 PALP mentors, and 50 mentees. The module entitled PALP Module for Semester 2 students which focuses on speaking skill. It contains 7 chapters, each chapters consists of the teaching order and scoring rubric. Moreover, the module was developed and revised based on the data gained during the research. The result from the expert judgment related to the face aspect is 84% while the result related to the development aspect is 80%. Then, the result of the evaluation from the board is 84%, from the mentors is 86%, and from the mentee is 88%. So, it can be concluded that the modul is feasible to apply.

This research was aimed to enhance students’ speaking skill at eight grade students of Islamic Junior High School Sawit Seberang, Langkat Regency. The subject of this research was a class consisted of 40 students. The research consisted of two cycles. Each cycles consisted of two meetings. The object of this research was to enhance students’ speaking skill by the use of Ice Breaker strategy. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research. Qualitative and Quantitative data were used in this research. The qualitative data while the quantitative data were taken from students’ score in Pre-Test, Post Test I, and Post-Test II. The result of analyzing data indicated that there was significance enhancement on students’ speaking skill after the use of Ice Breaker strategy. It can be seen from the students’ score in every cycle. In Pre-Test, there were only 30% (12 students) whose score up to 75. In Post-Test I, there was 52.5% on the percentage of students whose score up 75 (21 students), while in Post-Test II there were 80% students whose score up 75 (32 students). From data analysis, it showed that there was enhancement on students’ speaking skill. It can be seen from the mean of Post-Test II was 80.3. In other words, students’ speaking skill has enhanced. Based on the qualitative data, the students gave good responses and showed enthusiasm after the use of Ice Breaker strategy in speaking skill.

This research was aimed to develop appropriate, interesting and attractive speaking media in teaching descriptive text for seventh grade students of MTsS UMMI Lubuk Pakam. Due to the result in the form of product, this study was categorized as Research and Development (R & D) study which adapted from Borg and Gall (1989) theory with some modifications. The subject of this study was the seventh grade students of MTsS UMMI Lubuk Pakam. In conducting this research, the procedures were gathering the data and information, conducting the need analysis, designing the first draft of media, revising the media, and producing the final product as the meme comic. The instruments of collecting data were the combination of two strategies; interview and questionnaires. The interview result was analyzed as qualitative data and the questionnaires analyzed as quantitative data. These data were needs of students covering target needs and learning needs. This study developed speaking media which only focused on descriptive text taught in the odd semester. AbstractThe objectives of this research were to improve the students’ speaking skill and students’ interest about learning speaking by using Project-based learning. This research used classroom action research method in which the subject was the 25 ten graders of SMA PSKD 7 Depok and the subjects consisted thirteen males and twelve females. The quantitative data were analyzed by computing the students’ score of pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test2. Based on the data results, the mean score of pre-test, post-test in Cycle1, and post-test Cycle2 were respectively 49.12, 66.4, and 70.08. The gain of pre-test to post-test1 was 35.17%, the gain of post-test1in cycle 1 to post-test cycle 2 was 6.14%, and from the pre-test to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 43.48%. The qualitative data were described based on interview and field-note to the improvement of students’ speaking skill. The findings showed that Project-based learning could improve the students’ speaking skill, it is suggested to use this method in teaching speaking skill. Keywords: CAR, Project-based learning

This study was conducted to discover students’ achievement in narrative text through snowball throwing model. The design of this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this study was the students of Grade VIII, 2013/2014 school year of SMP Swasta Taman Harapan Medan. The number of students was 39 students. The research was conducted in to two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meeting which consisted of four stages, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. To collect the data the instruments that used were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were collected by using diary notes, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The quantitative data were collected by giving speaking test. Based on the data, the students’ score in speaking test got improvement in every cycle. In Test I, the mean of the students’ score was 64.44 while in Test II, the mean of the students’ score was 68.92 and in Test III, the mean of students’ score was 74.15. Based on the result of quantitative data, it was found that there was improvement on students’ speaking achievement in narrative text. This study was aimed to improve student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences at X MA Nurulhidayah Batujajar in the academic year of 2018/2019 as the subject of the study consists 32 students. This study was conducted for two months.The CAR was done based on Kurt Lewins’ design. The writer did two cycles which each cycle consists with planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. For data were gathered through qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were gained by analyzing the interview and observation result, while quantitative data were obtained from the students’ writing score of pretest and posttest.The finding of this study showed that there was improvement on the student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences. It can be seen from the mean score of pretest was 56.75. Then, the mean score of posttest cycle 1 was 66.37 and the mean score of posttest cycle 2 was 72.62. so the criteria of success was achieved. from the result of questionnaire, it showed that there was improvement of positive responses in the teaching-learning process of writing short funcional textcongratulation and complimenting. Related to the result of observation and interview, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in writing short funcional texcongratulation and complimenting using picture sequences improved and the students’ were motivated in the teaching-learning process.

This study aims to: (1) produce debating teaching materials based on a model of jurisprudence in Wahdah Islamiyah Makassar High School IT; (2) examine the feasibility of debating material teaching materials based on the model of jurisprudence in class X SMA IT Wahdah Islamiyah Makassar. This research was designed with research and development. The design of this study is R2D2 (Recursive, Reflective Design and Development Model). The data in this study are qualitative and quantitative data from the assessment of experts and practitioners. Qualitative data comes from comments, criticisms, and suggestions from expert and practitioner evaluations of teaching materials. Quantitative data is sourced from scores of expert and practitioner evaluations of the components of teaching materials. The data analysis technique of this study is qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. Qualitative data analysis, namely grouping data and concluding data in the form of comments, suggestions, and criticism from experts and practitioners to improve teaching materials and quantitative data analysis that is looking for the average of each indicator of expert judgment and practitioners for product feasibility. Components of the results of the assessment of teaching materials indicate that the component of content eligibility obtained an average of 3.39, the presentation component of 3.53, the language component of 3.47, the graphic component of 3.64, and the implications for developing competency debating 3.83. This research and development resulted in the product of the Arguing Teaching Material Based on a Model of jurisprudence that had been assessed by experts and practitioners. The results of expert and practitioner evaluations of teaching materials indicate that the assessment is in a very feasible category.

<p>The research was done in August 2012 in SMPN 1 Geger Madiun. The subject of the study was the eight year students consisting of 20 students. It was a classroom action research. The researcher conducted the research in some steps for each cycle. There were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. In collecting data, there were two kinds of data which were used in this study, the quantitative data and the qualitative data. The quantitative data were in the forms of students‟ scores. The data were students‟ scores from the beginning of the research to the end of the research. They came from the tests given. The qualitative data were collected by the following techniques: observations, interviews, and document analysis. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. It compares the score of the pretest to the score of the post test. The qualitative data were analyzed into data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/ verification.</p><p>The research findings showed that by implementing the “Most Names” in the speaking class, there were some improvements which can be classified into three main points as follow: The improvement of students‟ speaking skill; The improvement of students‟ participation; The improvement of students‟ interest; And the improvement of students‟ motivation. For that reason, “Most Names” was able to stimulate students to speak English.</p><p>In conclusion, “Most Names” is able to improve students‟ speaking skill in class VIII/A.  However, “Most  Names” has  its  own  strength  and  weaknesses.  Most  Names stimulated students to be more active, interactive, and creative to speak English.</p>In short, it is recommended to the teachers to use “Most Names” to improve the students‟ speaking skill in English.

The objectives of the research are to know whether DRTA technique can improve students’ reading competence or not, to know what are the students’ response to the DRTA technique and to evaluate the strengths and weakness of the DRTA technique when it is applied in teaching reading. The research was conducted in D-IV Midwifery Program of Health Sciences Faculty of Kadiri University August to November 2015. The subject of the research is the students of D-IV Midwifery students of Health Sciences Faculty of Kadiri University. The method of research is classroom action research and conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. In collecting the data, the researcher collected both qualitative and quantitative data. To obtain the quantitative data the researcher administered the result of pre test and post tense. In finding the qualitative data, the researcher and collaborative teacher observed directly the teaching in the classroom, interviewed the teacher and students, did questionnaire and also used photograph. The quantitative data were analyzed using the mean score. Questionnaire data collected usually answer respondents frequency of items alternatives by Likert Scale and score scale for observation.  The research findings show that DRTA technique is an appropriate technique which can improve student’s reading competence. First, DRTA can activate the students’ background knowledge related to the topic. Second, various activities in DRTA technique can enhance students’ confidence and motivation to have reading competence. Third, DRTA technique can guide the students to comprehend an overall description about the text. The improvement of reading competence can be seen from the result of pre- test which has the mean score 56.17, post test 1 is 67.11, post test 2 is 72.62 and post test 3 is 76.15. Some recommendations are made based on the research findings: (1) for English lecturer to use DRTA technique as one of alternative way of improving student’s reading competence (2) for the students to eliminate their fear of making mistakes in giving ideas and comprehending the passage Keywords : Reading Competence, DRTA Technique

Language teachers play an important roles on teaching and   learning   process,   choosing   the   methods,   and designing the goal of the study. All their targets are based on how well they collaborate the methods and designs through the experiences and knowledge they have during the  process   of  teaching  and   learning.   Audio-lingual method was chosen to know the effectiveness, advantages, disadvantages, strenghts, and weaknesses   in improving the speaking skill of the fifth grade students of elementary school. The qualitative and quantitative data were used in this research. Qualitative data were taken from the scores of the pre-test and all cycles. The quantitative data were taken through the observation, interview, and questionnaire. Based on the discussions and conclusions, audio-lingual method is recommended to improve the speaking skill of elementary students.Key words: audio-lingual method, speaking skill, teaching learning process
