The study aimed to investigate the refugee camps issue as emergent presence to the social structure of the Palestinian society. The study approached the literature as a multi-dimensional phenomenon, which addressed both theoretical and applied research. The findings revealed that the Palestinian camps do not accurately reflect the structure of the Palestinian society, as they are emergent presence to the social structure of the Palestinian society. These camps depict the exposure of the Palestinian diaspora concentrations during the Nakba of 1948 and after the 1967 war. It reflects the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the period resulting from the uprooting of more than one million Palestinians from their cities, villages, and Bedouin sites of origin.

We start with the question of city definition and we present the concept as it is normally accepted in geography. That means focusing in concentration, centrality and services, besides the fact that the city is a social-economic process and a spatial form. The first component however raises the question of territorial appropriation and identification of space by users. Urbanization implies transformation, thus in the second part we refer to the most important components of the urban change. They run between opposite trends that almost enable the prediction o f the future for the cityscapes, once they are concentration and descentralization, growth and decline, global homogeneity and place differentiation. We look at them through the modifications they have in the urban land or in the social structure.

The paper presents several basic arguments which corroborate the researches of the Russian sociologist Zinaida Golenkova aabout transformational processes in postsoviet Russia, specially about the processes which led to the changes in the social structure of the Russian society. The author believes, relying also on the researches of other Russian scientists, that the transformation of the post-soviet Russian society occurs within the historical type which is called "the social engineering". Unlike the other two types of historical transformation ("modification" within a specific type of social relations and the changes created in "the bourgeois-democratic revolutions"), "the social engineering" implies a specific violation of the historical reality of a society. In author's opinion, "the social engineering" is characteristic both for the revolutionary transformation of Russia in 1917 and for its transformation in the last decade of the 20th century. Namely, the transformations realized in Russia in the last decade of the 20th century to a great degree represent "social engineering", because they are realized with the help of the instruments of political power, by the forceful reforms from the top, in order to form the social-economic structure according to the models which were historically created in significantly different social environments. In that sense, the post-soviet transformation of the Russian society could be designated as a state of social chaos. Such a state to a great degree created a specific social system, which is argu-mentatively discussed in the research studies of Z. Golenkova.

The Book Sejarah Kereta Api Yogyakarta 1917-1942 was published as a complement to reading about the railroad network that had existed in the kingdom during the colonial period. In addition, this book is a means of education for the public that trains are not just transportation for mobility from one place to another. However, trains can be a vital element and influence the social, economic, political and cultural conditions in a society. The author also hopes that today's society will not forget about the great contribution that the railroad network has made.

AbstractRecent academic and policy attention focuses on the “convergence” of gambling and games. Yet, looking at the social and historical context of gambling and games, we see they were always intertwined, with both reflecting broader social, economic and cultural conditions. Setting out the argument for this book, this chapter contends that what we see today, with phenomena like loot boxes, is an acceleration of this trend, amplified by the changing technologies which underpin both industries. Little attention has been paid to these broader social and historical processes, which limits our understanding of them and our anticipation of what might happen next. This book aims to act as a primer to place the “convergence” of gambling and gaming within its rightful historical context and encourages us to take a broader perspective when thinking about the impact of these developments.

The evolution of the social structure of society in developed countries shows that the socalled middle class, whose existence is considered the main guarantee of stable social, economic, political development, is under threat. The epidemic and pandemic did not create fundamentally new risks, but significantly exacerbated traditional ones. In fact, the epidemic acted as a catalyst and accelerated negative, but fairly wellknown processes. World experience of social policy, European regulatory practices “efficiency vs equality” is of great importance to Russia.

It is shown that the anthropological paradigm "biological — social" is outdated, since it represents a person as a passive product of the genotype and social environment, while ignoring the personal factor — the freedom of the will of man. The necessity of transition to a new anthropological paradigm "biological – social – personal" is grounded, according to which a person is not a biosocial but a biopsychosocial being. According to the new paradigm, the formation of the mentality is determined by three factors: hereditary predispositions, socio-cultural conditions, the free will of man, manifested in his spiritual activity and choice of ways of behavior. The main reasons for the historical development of the mentality are self-determination of the person, the interaction of social systems in the social structure, changes in the economic and political sphere of society, changes in the social structure of society and the social basis of the bearers of mentality.

ABSTRACTThis article examines the social, economic and political origins of what was a new, distinctly elitist, culture of ‘non-competitive’ sport, and how these values, which emerged from a small group of metropolitan elites, spread throughout the south-east of England. It argues that a long-term analysis of sport provides a valuable contextual tool for urban historians. In this case, how the gradual adoption of a distinctly ‘metropolitan’ culture throughout Surrey, and the associated changes in the social structure and purpose of cricket, may contribute towards a more nuanced assessment of that county's ‘suburbanization’, and how this region interacted with the urban core.

The article presents information about the socio-political, economic, and cultural conditions in China in the 9th-16th centuries, the spread of Islam in China and its adaptation to the local culture, the participation of Muslim peoples in the social, economic, cultural life and educational process of the country. Also, it analyzes the formation of Muslim communities among the majority of followers of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism by adapting to their religious beliefs, close to the content of Islam, and the emergence of 10 separate legal systems, such as “Zu Tang” (“Foreigner living in China” ), “Fang Ke” (“Descendants of local Muslims”), “Fang Hue” (“Schools for foreigners”), “Qadi Department” (for the resolution of Muslim religious affairs), “Triple Administration” (consisting of an imam, a khatib and a muezzin dealing with the daily affairs of Muslims), which regulated the social and religious life of Muslims in China. It was found that during the Tang, Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, fundamental changes occurred that contributed to the spread and development of Islam throughout China. Thanks to an active policy of national assimilation, the political status of Muslims changed, and they became the indigenous citizens of China. It was concluded that the participation of Muslims in the policy of national assimilation became the basis for the formation of new national communities based on common values, ethics, and rituals, as well as for the wider dissemination of Islamic teachings and philosophy in other parts of China.
