<p>This study is conducted to identify customers view regarding cost effectiveness, time savings and security of different types of e-banking products like online banking, ATM banking, internet banking, mobile banking and telephone banking. E-banking is the alternative delivery channels that banks adopted for providing efficient banking services through the help of internet, computers, mobile phone etc. Banks’ customers were considered as population and primary data were collected through questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used for analyzing the data. The results indicated that customers prefer ATM banking services most, next to follow mobile banking and online banking. The customers believed that all types of e-banking products save time and except telephone banking others types of e-banking products were secured. Online banking and ATM banking services were not considered as cost effective. Analysis indicated no relationship between online banking and different demographic variables. ATM banking services was highly influenced by most of the demographic variables whereas internet banking, mobile banking and telephone banking influenced by few demographic variables i.e. age groups, education level, and monthly income. The results help banks to develop varieties of e-banking products and formulate strategies by considering the demographic characteristics of the customers. Customers expect more users friendly e-banking products along with diversify features and suggested to develop latest e-banking products like mobile apps based banking for ensuring long term customers relationship, attracting potential customers and keeping existing customers that may ensure consistent growth and profit as well.</p>

Abstract Background/Purpose: Maintaining a balance between security and a positive user experience in mobile and Internet banking is becoming increasingly difficult for the providers of banking services. The goal of our research is to analyse user opinions about the current situation: how users perceive security and how the authentication methods they are using affect user experience. Methodology: Data were collected using an online survey among the users of 15 banks operating in Slovenia, and statistical methods were applied to analyse them. Results of the users’ study were evaluated and commented by a limited number of interviewed banking security experts. Results: The results indicate that the use of mobile banking in Slovenia is relatively low, as only 30 percent of respondents use mobile banking along with Internet banking. Slovenian users perceive security to be the most important factor in mobile and online banking, closely followed by reliability. We also verified whether the users knew which authentication methods they were using: 69% of respondents selected the correct authentication method. The opinion of 88% of respondents was that authentication methods do not limit them when using mobile and Internet banking. Results of the study of user’s opinions did not surprise the experts, although experts’ views about the balance between security and usability diverged considerably. Conclusion: Our results indicate that, in Slovenia, users of the Internet and mobile banking services regard security to be the most important element in mobile or Internet banking and find user experience less important while they absolutely do want products that are easy to use.

COVID-19 outbreak has brought a global challenge in economy. It has affected badly on the financial sector all over the world. It created fear in the minds of people to use liquid cash and thus, has led to the adoption of mobile banking services. This study was conducted by collecting responses from the employed and student population from various parts of Kerala, who use mobile banking services. Primary data have been collected from 268 responses through a structured questionnaire prepared using Google forms. Percentage analysis with frequency distribution is used to summarize and infer the data along with pie charts. Chi-square test have been used to analyze the data using Microsoft Excel sheet to test the developed hypothesis and derive conclusions. It is concluded that mobile banking application have created a good impact during this pandemic to safeguard the lives and complete transactions at their fingertips without visiting banks physically.

Financial inclusion is an important step in development, as access to finances can help the women to build money and lift themselves out of poverty. Lack of financial inclusion among women in Narok County is one of the many factors leading to financial exclusion and an introduction of digital banking is the remedy to its problems. Financial inclusion of women contributes immensely in empowering them. Digital banking in Kenya has been characterized by rapid technological change in the finance sector that has led to the development of mobile banking, online banking, ATMs and agency banking. The banking sector has undergone substantive transformation particularly from the year 2007. This study sought to establish the effects of digital banking and financial inclusion of Women Enterprises in Narok County, Kenya. Financial inclusion includes the provision of affordable financial services, which includes; access to payments and remittance facilities, savings, loans and insurance services by the formal financial system to those who tend to be excluded The study was anchored on finance growth theory and financial asymmetric theory. This study used descriptive research design and data was collected from the target population of all the 184 women owned enterprise in Narok County, Kenya. For this study census sampling was adopted to where all the population will be included in study since the number of target population is 184. Primary data was collected using a semi structured questionnaire to be administered to the women business owner through face to face interviews. The collected data was analysed using descriptive statistics methods; mean, mode, median, standard deviation, percentages and frequencies. Inferential statistical methods included multiple regression analysis was used to establish the relationship among variables. It was established that digital banking services significantly and positively influenced financial inclusion of women enterprises in Narok County. The study concluded that agency banking, mobile banking, online banking and ATM services significantly influenced the access and use of banking services by the locally based women enterprises in Narok County. It was further concluded that the women enterprises did not adequately use online banking due to limited literacy level, computer proficiency and internet availability. The study recommends that the available financial sector players in Narok County needs to sensitize SMEs especially women-owned to ensure that they are aware of the digital services available to be in the loop to enhance financial inclusion. The study recommends that the available digital banking providers need to improve formation of groups among the users of the services to enable improve usability. The study recommends further that the women enterprises managers and proprietors need to be in groups to develop each other and assist access, use and improve digital banking and financial inclusion.

<p><strong>Purpose</strong>–The purpose of this paper is to investigate customer’s adoption for technology-enabled delivery channels such as Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), Internet banking, Tele-banking, mobile banking and branch lobby kiosks of selected Public Sector Banks (PSBs). In addition, the study consists of the customer’s willingness for adopting banks delivery channels and customer demographics influence on delivery channels in specific for Mumbai city (India).</p><p><strong>Design/methodology/approach</strong>–For this study, structured questionnaire was administered to collect the primary data and random sampling method was adopted. The paper also presents a multi-year research effort on e-banking in delivery channels and suggests strategies to enhance the channelization of banking products and services through usage of delivery channels.</p><p><strong>Findings</strong>–The findings reveal that the customer’s willingness for adoption of various technology-enabled delivery channels is lower than the banks’ acceptable level. The usage of technology-enabled delivery channels such as Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Internet banking is high in Mumbai. The results also show that the usage of mobile banking and branch lobby kiosks is very low. Most of respondents are using Internet banking for the purpose of fund transfer and account information. ATMs service is highly used among 36-45 years of age groups. Promoting awareness about benefit of technology-enabled delivery channels is of utmost important to increase usage of technology-enabled delivery channels.</p><p><strong>Practical implications/limitations</strong>–The paper presents the opportunity for bank marketers to adapt to market orientated approach. They can consider customers usage pattern to increase the effectiveness of delivery channels. The results suggest that banks strategic and tactical activities require improvement in order to become more customer-focused and market-oriented. Furthermore, the scope of the study was selected PSBs’ customers residing in Mumbai city (India).</p><strong>Originality/value</strong>–Previous studies that sought adoption of innovative delivery channels lack concern to user’s inclination to technology-enabled delivery channels. This paper makes a valuable contribution in the field of marketing strategy of banks, and evaluate to what extent consumers are ready to accept and use the products or the services introduced.

Commercial banks in Kenya have embraced alternative banking channels which represent a shift in delivery of banking and financial services since the alternative banking have become synonymous with commercial banks in Kenya. While banks have succeeded in leveraging available technology and provide alternative avenues to customers for banking services, the challenge it faces today is optimizing the usage of these channels so as to improve on their performance. The general objective of this study was to investigate the effects of financial innovations on the performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to examine the influence of internet banking, mobile banking, agency banking and ATM banking on the performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The study was guided by agency theory, balanced score card and diffusion of innovation theory. This study employed a descriptive research design. The study targeted44 commercial banks in Kenya as at 2017. The 16 banks which embrace all the four financial innovations from 2013 to 2017were selected using purposive sampling method. The sample size was 80 respondents who comprised of 5 senior management employees in each of the selected banks.This study used questionnaire to collect primary data from the respondents. Content analysis technique was used to analyze qualitative data collected from open ended questions in and reported in narrative form. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the quantitative data. Multiple regression analysis was used to show the relationship between independent variables against dependent variable. The study revealed that internet banking, mobile banking, agency banking and ATM banking had a positive and significant effect on the performance of commercial banks. Thisstudy concludes that the banking industry has benefited tremendously from the development of the Internet. The Internet fundamentally changed the way in which banking networks are designed to meet the client demands and expectations. Mobile banking provides a good opportunity to commercial banks in Kenya to reach many mobile phone subscribers in Kenya who had remained unbanked and unreached due to limited access to bank branch networks in the country. The access to the large masses through mobile banking of the population gives banks the opportunity to grow by reaching the unbanked population. Agency banking has led to accessibility of financial service to many customer in remote areas and hence an increase in effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery. Customers are satisfied with the automated teller machine services because of ease of use, transaction cost and service security but not satisfy with automated teller machine dispense of cash. The study recommends that the public and businesses must be encouraged to use Internet banking in their daily activities, including deposits, payments and money transfers. Commercial banks in Kenya should ensure convenience and security of mobile banking through written guidelines on convenience and security of mobile banking. Commercial banks in Kenya should increase the number of agents in estates and in the rural areas. This can be done by reducing the requirements of becoming a bank agent. The banks should employ customized software that records relevant information on automated teller machine cards so that banks can establish whether unauthorized transaction has taken place or not.

The development and the increasing progress that is being experienced in the Information and Communication Technology have brought about a lot of changes in almost all facets of life. In the Banking Industry, it has been in the form of online banking, which is now replacing the traditional banking practice. Online banking has a lot of benefits which add value to customers’ satisfaction in terms of better quality of service offerings and at the same time enable the banks gain more competitive advantage over other competitors. There are some associated risks identified in the study that seem to hinder the success of e-banking services and thus constitute major concern to both financial institutions and customers. This paper therefore, examines, if customers’ choice of banks is influenced by the quality of e–banking services provided. Stratified sampling was used; while the survey Instrument was a developed Questionnaire comprising open ended and Likert type of questions. The Likert type questions have a 4 point scale (indicating 1 = very comfortable and 4 = uncomfortable) divided into two (2) sections: personal details and customers’ e-banking preference in Sierra Leone. The instrument contained 36 items and was administered to about 400 respondents, while 360 completed and returned their Questionnaire. The statistical techniques used for the analysis were the Chi–Square and correlation. The Chi–Square analysis revealed that the quality of e–banking services offered by banks have significant influence on their customers at 95%, 3 degree of freedom. The paper recommends that various measures should be put in place to ensure more security such as installation of encrypted software, verification system of customer’s identification cards, frequent change of password, examining test questions and using mixed password such as the use of alphanumeric amongst others. The paper concludes that e –banking has become important phenomenon in the banking industry and it will continue as more progress and innovations are made in information technology.

Purpose This study aims to find important factors of Malaysian Islamic banking customers’ loyalty or continuance intention to use Islamic mobile banking services. Design/methodology/approach The primary data are collected from the survey administered to 250 customers in the Klang Valley and the analysis is conducted using partial least squares (PLS). Findings Based on the findings, continuance intention of using Islamic mobile banking services was found to be depended on the usability of mobile banking services, customer service provided by Islamic banks towards mobile banking services, customer satisfaction on mobile banking services and trust of customers towards mobile banking services. In addition, the mediating effect of Islamic mobile banking services continuance adoption is significantly influenced by customer satisfaction and trust. Research limitations/implications The sample size and area of study become the obvious limitations, and interpretation of the results and conclusion cannot be as generalised. In addition, as the respondents of this study are existing customers who have used Islamic mobile banking services at least once, relying on the perception of one key informant might imply cognitive biases. Besides, the use of current factors might limit the ability to explore other potentially important determinants of the customers’ continuance intention in using Islamic mobile banking services. Practical implications By understanding these continuance intention factors amongst the customers, it would help the industry player particularly Islamic banking to plan and strategise appropriate policies and support necessary programmes on diversifying and promoting financial transaction using mobile banking services amongst their existing and potential customers. Originality/value This paper offers an additional literature on Islamic mobile banking, especially from the Malaysian context. There is a lack of study that focuses on loyalty towards Islamic mobile banking services. The paper is considered to be the first attempt to examine the factors that influence Malaysian Islamic banking customers’ loyalty or continuance intention to use Islamic mobile banking services.

Factors affecting the adoption of online banking services by civil servants in Cameroon was examined in this survey. Raw data were gotten through questionnaire which was distributed mostly among the civil servant in Douala of Cameroon. The analyses used in this survey were crosstabs test, descriptive analysis, factor analysis, correlation test, and regression test. The findings revealed that awareness factor has a positive and significant effect on online banking, security & trust assurance showed a negative and insignificant effect on online banking service, innovative factor displayed a negative and insignificant effect on online banking service, and customer service assurance revealed positive but has insignificant impact on online banking service. It was concluded that internet banking is difficult to understand and its time consuming among many of the users and internet fraud discourages the use of internet banking in Cameroon. Additionally, the dissemination of information through the internet is not mostly secure and efficient.

Internet banking has become the preferred channel for conducting banking activities across globe and amongst all social demographics. Only a few other technological adoptions can compare with the recent trend of use of Internet banking facilities. Given the cost advantages and benefits it has to offer, it is widely touted as a win-win strategy for both banks and customers. However, with the growth in E-banking services and reliance on a public channel–Internet–to conduct business, it has been challenging for banks to ensure integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive information. This chapter presents an overview of authentication issues and challenges in the online banking area with analysis on some of the better approaches. The chapter compares different authentication methods and discusses ensuing issues. The chapter will be invaluable for managers and professionals in understanding the current authentication landscape.

The banking landscape in India has been changing rapidly due to advent of emerging technologies. Consumers have adopted technology in their everyday banking transactions. These changes have been evident because of the advent of electronic channels like mobile banking (MB), internet banking, payments banking, fintech applications, and such others. Given the burgeoning Indian population, the brick and mortar model of banking hasn't been able to keep up with the increased and enhanced customer needs. This has led to bankers harping on adoption of mobile banking. The authors in this study applied a sequential mixed method quant-qual to better comprehend customer perceptions towards adoption of mobile banking services. The research was carried out in two phases: quantitative survey followed by qualitative interviews. The findings from the study helped gauge the user perception towards MB. These were concerns regarding security, internet availability, simplified user interface experience of MB, customer convenience for core banking services, and transactions with minimum number of clicks.
