During the peak of the sectarian war in Iraq after the US invasion in 2003, there seemed to be an absolute absence of the mind and a great deal of hatred and tension among the people of Baghdad that turned into maddening acts of terrorism, like car bombings and suicide bombers, killing thousands of innocent people. Frankenstein in Baghdad came to be the mouthpiece of that very critical phase in the modern history of Iraq. The abundant acts of killing and bloodshed during 2005 turned into an ugly form of a monster called " Whatsitsname" formed from the fragmented parts of those killed by terrorist acts. The creature bears a clear resemblance to Marry Shelley's monster in her novel Frankenstein. The monster is a loose perpetrator that kills whoever it meets. This study attempts to analyze the writer's poetics of adaptation in the novel and his debt to other literary works.

In the novel "Our Lady of Alice Bhatti", the novelist depicts the worse and pitiable plight of the lower classes living on the edges of marginality. The story is narrated through the perspective of a young Christian nurse and her 'choorah' family. Her oppression may well be interpreted as an instance of a class struggle between the capitalist and the proletariat. The study contends that religious and gender discrimination is, in some ways, the by-product of an uneven economic system and hegemonic capitalistic power structures. Basic tenets of Marxist theory are employed as a theoretical framework to conduct the research in a systematic way. The study reveals that the ideologies of creed, caste and colour are very often used as capitalistic tools to divide human beings, especially the lower classes. It suggests that there is a dire need for educating the people on how to come together simply for what they actually are.

The objective of this research is to reveal Nawāl al-Sa’dāwī’s fantasy and to find out why she builds a fantasy of women’s autonomy in religious discourse as depicted in her latest novel, Zīnah. This study focuses on the concept of fantasy in Žižek's theory of subjectivity, which sees fantasy as a screen covering the lacks and inconsistencies of the shackling Symbolic. Fantasy is also an estuary of meaning that confirms the existence of a divided and dialectical subject that continues to move in search of self-fulfillment. The research method is  hermeneutic, namely by interpreting the actions and fantasies of al-Sa’dāwī' as a subject. The analysis shows that al-Sa’dāwī’s fantasy is her realization of a transcendental humanist religious discourse which gives women full autonomy, internally and externally. Zīnah, the main character in the novel, is a symbol of this autonomy. Internally, Zīnah has been set free from the patriarchal shackles of religious discourses. Externally, Zīnah is able to change the structure and create a new humanist, transcendental, and progressive structure in religious discourse to liberate human beings. Zīnah is al-Sa’dāwī’s fantasy to cover up the lacks of The Symbolic, the estuary of meaning, and confirmation of her existence as a divided and dialectical subject.

Homosexuals According to Ziauddin Sardar's book "Reading the Quran"This study aims to describe the homosexual discussion in Ziauddin Sardar's book Reading The Qur'an. As text research, the research method used is qualitative with an interpretive-literary approach. The data collection technique was carried out in a documentative manner. Meanwhile, the data analysis was carried out in an explanatory-hermeneutic manner. The research results mention homosexuality as an act that is not explicitly explained in the Al-Qur'an. Homosexuality occurs because of an innate instinct or life choice. Homosexual acts in the contemporary era cannot be attributed to the sexual violence that occurred in the story of the Prophet Lut AS. Where the people of the Prophet Lut AS committed sexual violence through intimidation and cruelty. Meanwhile, homosexual culture in contemporary culture refers to the sexual hedonist attitude of a person who is motivated by psychological, health, hedonism, economic, and technological pressure factors. Homosexuals cannot be punished cruelly according to Islamic sources. So with that, as fellow human beings, we still have to respect homosexual perpetrators according to human nature, and not respect their actions. Despite this, homosexual behavior still undermines the social fabric

The present paper makes an attempt to examine how George Herbert Meade’s theory explains people’s use of symbols as a sense-making tool to elucidate the socialization process, role performance, identity, and meaning formation within the Igbo society to explain various aspects of human life in the novel Things Fall Apart. This study is significant as it deals with a character analysis of Okonkwo, to see how various roles of son, warrior, husband, father, and clansman are defined in Igbo culture during different phases of family and social life to clarify how Symbolic Interactionism has given a new impetus to see society, culture, psychology, and relationships. It argues that the physical setting is significant to human behavior and human actions can be interpreted by the critical analysis of cultural symbols and the way they are deployed. It concludes that human behavior is based upon assigning meanings and their symbolic interpretations of the objects that surround them. The SI analysis of the novel clearly indicates that Okonkwo’s self and meaning formation is built on perceptions of the reactions of his clansman and his self-concept functions to direct his behavior. The development of different roles changes role and behavior patterns. The internal and external happenings influence role performance, conflict, struggle and affect the nature, attitude, and self-image of Okonkwo. Moreover, it also affirms that the cultural symbols for honor, respect, and manliness, etc. are not fixed naturally rather these are the constructions of the mind and are given meaning through the interaction of the people.

The article considers the specificity of the use of genre attributions of alternative story in Oles Berdnyk's novel "Dazhbog's Camerton". Despite the great interest of domestic scholars in the genre of alternative story, the work of a leading representative of Ukrainian fiction, a prominent philosopher and futurologist remained out of the attention of literary critics concerning the presence of the genre features. Therefore, it is necessary to find out the peculiarities of the use of these features in the novel, their functions in the text, and the influence of the author's peculiar worldview. The material of the research was Oles Berdnyk's novel, as well as the phenomenon of alternative story as a genre of fiction. This helped to determine exactly how the author uses the genre attributions of alternative story, how the description of variable story fits into the novel, and what role it plays. The method of textual analysis was used as research method. Modern theories of alternative story and various branches of knowledge and study of its manifestations in Ukrainian prose, including postmodern, are used as a basis for the research. Observations of the text of Oles Berdnyk's novel "Dazhbog's Camerton" and his other works, in particular the novel "Star Corsair", allowed to collect a lot of factual material, which became the basis for defining the features and functions of the author's parallel reality. Thus, it turned out that Oles Berdnyk uses in the novel the method of an image of an alternative story and the method of an accidental journey in order to enliven the plot, enriching it with peripeties, to more fully outline the characters and express their own philosophical and worldview beliefs. The question of studying alternative story in Oles Berdnyk's work still needs further research, in particular, of other author's novels in this aspect.
