This research article deals with two objectives. The first objective was to develop the professional competence of social studies teacher in the education sandbox. The second objective was to propose social studies classroom-based action learning management innovation to develop professional competence of social studies teacher in the education sandbox and to assess satisfaction levels of students in developing professional competence of social studies teacher in the education sandbox. The conducted research in this article was classroom-based action research whereby the assessment form of area-based competence perception of educational students in Chiang Mai education sandbox, Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai University (pre- and post-assessment). The sample group used in the research consisted of senior educational students in the field of social studies of the second semester of the academic year 2020 accounting for 30 people. For the analysis, descriptive statistics were used. Results of statistical data analysis were shown as mean and standard deviation. From the research results, it was found that the level of perceived competence of becoming a professional teacher in Thailand education sandbox consisted of 3 aspects. 1) For the aspect of self-efficacy regarding knowledge and understanding in becoming a professional teacher, the average summation of the 4 competencies was as follows: the perception was at a high level. 2) For the aspect of skills and capacity in becoming a professional teacher in the Chiang Mai education sandbox, the average summation of 4 competencies was as follows: the perception was at a high level. 3) For the aspect of attitudes on becoming a professional teacher in the Chiang Mai education sandbox, the average summation of 4 competencies was as follows: the perception was at a high level.

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of social studies teacher candidates about smoking addiction. For the purpose of the study, phenomenological research design, which is one of the designs of qualitative research method, was used. The study group consisted of 20 volunteer teacher candidates (10 male and 10 female) who have been studying at Usak University Faculty of Education in the 2019-2020 academic year and who have been smoking for the last year. Data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. The interview form, which is a data collection tool, was prepared based on the opinions of three experts. 6 open-ended questions were asked to the participants according to expert opinions. The data was analyzed by content analysis.

As environment education gains importance in a changing and developing world, studies about this subject has beenincreasing every day. Nature and environment education is one of the most important subjects being studied.Environmental education applications are insufficient in the education faculties of our country’s universities. For nature andenvironmental education to reach its goals new approaches should be included in the curriculum. Many different teachingtechniques, including using field trips, can be used and new techniques can be developed.For this study, a field trip in which social studies teacher candidates had practical nature and environmental educationwas organized with 33 (20 female, 13 male) second-year teacher candidates studying Social Studies Education in NiğdeUniversity’s Faculty of Education. During the field trip, the researcher also used speaking circle technique with thecandidates. The purpose of the field trip is to determine the candidates’ awareness level about environmental pollution.First, candidates’ views on pollution factor on Çakıt River and its effects were taken. Later, students got detailed on-siteinformation about recycling by visiting plastic waste recycling, paper waste recycling and water waste recycling facilities.In this study, experimental design, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. No control group pre-test post-testmethod was used. Five open-ended questions were developed for the study. It was aimed to raise teacher candidates’awareness by teaching them behaviors, skills and values that they can pass on to the future generations.

<p>Observasi yang dilakukan seminggu sebelum pelaksanaan UNBK tahun 2018, terlihat siswa SMK di Kuta mengalami gejala-gejala kecemasan. Mengalami gejala-gejala kecemasan sebelum UNBK dianggap hal yang wajar selama berada pada kategori rendah. Sebaliknya, bukan hal yang wajar jika mengalami kecemasan yang berlebihan. Penelitian ini akan mencoba menguraikan tingkat kecemasan siswa SMK di Kuta menghadapi UNBK tahun 2018. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey deskriptif. Tempat penelitian di SMK Prshanti Nilayam Kuta. Populasinya adalah siswa SMK Prshanti Nilayam kelas XII pada tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Teknik <em>simple random sampling</em> digunakan untuk menentukan jumlah sampel sehingga ditemukan sampel sebanyak 40 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner kecemasan yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan bantuan <em>Microsoft Excel.</em><em> </em>Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa SMK di Kuta mengalami kecemasan menghadapi UNBK tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 yaitu pada tingkat rendah sebanyak 4 orang siswa (10%), sedang sebanyak 18 orang siswa (45%), tinggi sebanyak 15 orang siswa (37,5%) dan sangat tinggi sebanyak 3 orang siswa (7,5%).</p><p align="center"><strong> <em><br />Abstract</em></strong><strong><em></em></strong></p>Observations conducted a week before the implementation of computer based National exam (UNBK) in year 2018, seen in vocational school students in Kuta experiencing symptoms of anxiety. Experiencing symptoms of anxiety before UNBK said to be reasonable during the low category. Conversely, it’s not unusual to experience excessive anxiety. This research will try to describe the anxiety level of vocational students in Kuta facing UNBK in year 2018. This study is descriptive survey research. Place of study in SMK Prshanti Nilayam Kuta. The population is students of SMK Prshanti Nilayam class XII in the academic year 2017/2018. A simple random sampling technique was used to determine the number of samples so that 40 samples were found. The data of study was collected using an anxiety questionnaire which was then analyzed using Microsoft Excel. The result of this study shows that students of SMK in Kuta have anxiety to face UNBK academic year 2017/2018 that is at low level 4 students (10%), medium level 18 students (45%), high level 15 students (37,5 %) and very high level 3 students (7.5%).

The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Where the data collected by observing, interview and documentation. It is known that in many of the developed countries of the world, especially the U.S.A, educators benefit from dystopic works in education and training of the topics such as historical consciousness, metaphors, numbers, color perception and development of language. From this point forth, it can be suggested that dystopic works, as long as they are presented by expert trainers through correct methods and techniques, can provide great benefits for historical consciousness, cognitive, social and cultural development, and especially democratic awareness. The main purpose of this study is to draw attention on the significant contributions that dystopic works can make on historical consciousness and education. The survey is conducted within 2014-2015 academic year in Agri Ibrahim Cecen University Faculty of Education Department of Social Sciences Teaching (4th grade) and views of these participants on acquisition of historical consciousness through the novel “The Giver” are examined through qualitative research method. During the survey, while determining the students’ views, indications concerning the cover and content of the book, as well as the fiction, characterization and narration are obtained and exposed to content analysis. As a result of the survey, it is observed that dystopic works, especially “The Giver” can offer significant benefits for the acquisition of historical consciousness.

The objectives of this study are: 1) to study problems and the needs in community-based transdisciplinary learning for social studies teachers in the diverse school contexts, Northern of Thailand 2) to develop and find the efficiency of handbook of community-based transdisciplinary learning for social studies teachers in the diverse school contexts, Northern of Thailand and 3) to examine the implementation results of the handbook. This research is based on the research foundation of a mixed method in education research. The population involved in this study included 1) educational connoisseurship of area-based who are selected by means of purposive sampling, from not less than 5 persons and 2) social studies teachers in the Northern-region provinces of Thailand who are selected by means of accidental sampling, from not less than 334 persons. The research instruments are: 1) a questionnaire on problems and the needs in community-based transdisciplinary learning 2) an appropriateness assessment form on the handbook and 3) an evaluation form of teacher professional competence in community-based transdisciplinary learning. The qualitative data are analyzed and shown on content analysis and descriptive analysis. The quantitative statistics employed for data analysis are mean and standard deviation through statistical program. The research findings revealed as follows; 1) Problems and the needs: teacher professional competence needs to be improved in community-based transdisciplinary learning through 7 skills, namely; Integrated learning Management, Technology Integrated Learning, Integrating Ethics Learning, Community Resource Management, Transdisciplinary Innovation Integrated Learning, Creative Educational Measurement Design, and Competency of Networking skill. 2) The result of handbook development: &ldquo;SOCIAL Action Learning Model&rdquo;, includes 6 steps, should be implemented in community-based transdisciplinary learning for social studies teachers. Due to the evaluation of the handbook, the result is at the highest level of appropriation (x = 4.58, S.D. = 0.57) 3) The result of handbook using: the handbook of community-based transdisciplinary learning for social studies teachers found the evaluation result at a high level (x = 3.96, S.D. = 0.89)

The desperation is a kind of negative foresight on the contrary of positive foresight for the future. That is to say, to some extend, and it is an emotional situation having negative expectations for the future. The aim of the study, determination the factors that are affecting the university students&rsquo; desperation levels. This study was conducted to examine the students of Kafkas university despite levels for the future. The sampling groups of this study were the students of Kafkas University Education Faculty educated at Physical Education and Sports Department (25 students), Basic Mathematics Teaching Department (25 students), Science Teaching Department (25 students), and Social Studies Teacher&rsquo;s Department (25 students) 4th class totally 100 participant students in 2016-2017 academic year. The sampling group was selected using simple random&mdash;the data handed with the help of the data collecting scale evaluated by using the SPSS Package Program. The preferences are &ldquo;Yes (Correct) and No (Wrong)&rdquo;. As a result of this study, there wasn&rsquo;t a meaningful difference in the participant students&rsquo; desperation levels according to the variables. Students&rsquo; desperation level means were lower than p &lt; 0.05.

This study examined how prospective social studies teachers evaluate their experiences conducting oral histories regarding Turkey’s recent history. The research was completed in a course called History of the Republic of Turkey in the Faculty of Education at Sakarya University. Thirty-four social studies teacher candidates participated in the study. Based on a phenomenological research design (a qualitative research method), the data were obtained via semi-structured interviews consisting of 5 questions developed for this study. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. The prospective social studies teachers reported that their experiences completing oral histories related to recent Turkish history positively affected their views of the study of history and that their oral history experiences exposed them to diverse perspectives. The primary difficulties they encountered conducting their oral histories concerned the source persons they did oral histories. They also reported that they would like to practice oral history in their future social studies classes.

The aim of this study is to investigate prospective teachers' environmental education self-efficacy in terms of various variables. Survey method was applied in the study, and the data were collected in the 2015-2016 academic year. The study group of the paper consisted of 172 prospective teachers from each grade level who are studying in Social Studies Department, Faculty of Education, Afyon Kocatepe University. The data of the study were collected with the environmental education self-efficacy scale developed by Özdemir, Aydın and Akar-Vural. (2009). The 5-point Likert scale consisted of 15 items and had four sub-dimensions. As a result of the analyses, it was concluded that prospective teachers' self-efficacy perceptions of environmental education were moderate and prospective teachers' self-efficacy perception levels did not show a significant difference according to gender and grade level variables.
