THE ROLE OF INFORMATION IN E-COMMERCE

The article presents different definitions of e-commerce and discusses the impact of technology development, the Internet, globalization, and changes in public awareness on its current form. It also indicates the functions of information and its pathologies most frequently encountered in e-commerce and presents the role of logistics information in building its competitive advantage.

This study aims to investigate the impact of technology capability and logistics integration commitment on information sharing as well as global supply chain competitiveness. Data were collected from 177 local manufacturing firms that are competing in global markets. The findings indicate that logistics integration commitment is significantly related with information sharing and global supply chain competitiveness. This study however, fails to establish a relationship between technology capability and global supply chain competitiveness. The findings also highlight information sharing as a mediator.

This paper analyses new words and expressions used in the Serbian language. The main aims of the paper are to register and describe typical language units in young people’s speech today, then to examine the impact of technology, the Internet and new types of communication on the structure of the Serbian lexicon, and to try to identify some tendencies and processes in the contemporary Serbian language. The corpus on which the research was conducted was collected in 2019 and 2020, and it consists of 1500 utterances excerpted from online social networks, primarily Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Based on the analysis of selected new words and expressions, it was determined that young people’s speech today is changing rapidly under the influence of globalisation and the English language, especially at the lexical level. It has also been established that in latest metaphors and comparisons, new technology and the Internet are appearing more and more often in the role of source domains, as an integral part of modern culture.

Abstract Research background: Recent years have brought a real explosion of new tools and methods of conducting market activities based on new technologies. Solutions based on new technologies carry great development potential for an organization. There is a belief that new technologies – in particular, programmatic buying (analyzed in this article) – also impact an organization’s ability to compete. Programmatic buying (PB) is a tool but also a new model of sales and purchase of advertising, under which the current package approach (traditional) has been replaced by a fully automated individualized approach. Purpose: The aim of the article is to assess the impact of technology on an organization’s ability to compete with the example of PB. Research methodology: The empirical basis is both qualitative and quantitative research conducted in 2018–2019. Results: The empirical material provides the basis for rejecting the main research hypothesis which claims that the usage of PB increases the effectiveness and efficiency of advertising and thanks to this on a companies’ ability to compete. PB has a positive impact only on the effectiveness and efficiency of graphic ads. The same relation was not observed in terms of video ads. Nevertheless the results are not clear. It is recommended to deepen the analysis. Novelty: Due to the fact that programmatic buying is a relatively new technologic solution there is no research that proves its impact on the marketing activities efficiency as well as its role in building the competitive advantage of a company, especially on the Polish or European market. This research starts the discussion of the role of PB in companies’ market activities and fits in the dispute of the significance of new technologies.

Supply managers need to understand the impact of technology and gain competence in making business cases for electronic procurement, the implication is very deep for industrial marketers.

The increasing importance of the information revolution and terms such as ‘speed’, ‘disorientation’, and ‘changing the concept of distance’, has provided us with tools that had not been previously available. Technological developments are moving toward Fluidity, which was previously unknown and cannot be understood through modern tools. With acceleration of the rhythm in the age we live in and the clarity of the role of information technology in our lives, as also the ease of access to information, has helped us to overcome many difficulties. Technology in all its forms has had a clear impact on all areas of daily life, and it has a clear impact on human thought in general, and the architectural space in particular, where the architecture moves from narrow spaces and is limited to new spaces known as the ‘breadth’, and forms of unlimited and stability to spaces characterized with fluidity. The research problem (the lack of clarity of knowledge about the impact of vast information flow associated with the technology of the age in the occurrence of liquidity in contemporary architectural space) is presented here. The research aims at defining fluidity and clarifying the effect of information technology on the changing characteristics of architectural space from solidity to fluidity. The research follows the analytical approach in tracking the concept of fluidity in physics and sociology to define this concept and then to explain the effect of Information Technology (IT) to achieve the fluidity of contemporary architectural space, leading to an analysis of the Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) architectural model. The research concludes that information technology achieves fluidity through various tools (communication systems, computers, automation, and artificial intelligence). It has changed the characteristics of contemporary architectural space and made it behave like an organism, through using smart material.

In housing markets there is a trade-off between selling time and selling price, with pricing strategy being the balancing act between the two. Motivated by the Home Report scheme in Scotland, this paper investigates the role of information symmetry played in such a trade-off. Empirically, this study tests if sellers’ pricing strategy changes when more information becomes available and whether this, in turn, affects the trade-off between the selling price and selling time. Using housing transaction data of North-East Scotland between 1998Q2 and 2018Q2, the findings show that asking price has converged to the predicted price of the property since the introduction of the Home Report. While information transparency reduces the effect of ‘overpricing’ on selling time, there is little evidence to show that it reduces the impact of pricing strategy on the final selling price in the sealed-bid context.

AbstractThis study analyzes the instantiation of objects in Peruvian Amazonian Spanish (PAS) discourse in two communities with distinct linguistic contexts. We examine the impact of two social variables (gender and place) and nine linguistic variables (transitivity, animacy, definiteness, anaphora function, anaphora expression, cataphora function, cataphora expression, activation, topic persistence) on the speech of eight participants. Our findings indicate that null instantiation in PAS is pervasive, occurring with a range of verb lexemes. While neither gender nor place are significant predictors of null objects, various linguistic variables contribute to the instantiation of objects. The five significant variables as determined by a mixed model regression analysis include the following: animacy, definiteness, anaphora expression, cataphora expression, and activation status. Several findings are consistent with previous research (e. g. human and definite referents disfavor null objects), while other results differ (e. g. PAS propositions disfavor null objects). Activation status and anaphora expression are the most significant predictors of null objects in PAS. In particular, highly accessible referents in discourse and anaphoric null objects favored null objects in subsequent clauses. Thus, the results in the present study demonstrate the pivotal role of information structure in object instantiation, furthering the discussion on syntax-discourse interplay phenomena.

This paper has explored the role of information and communication technology ICT in academia and as well as the strategies used in propagating the available services in an academic library this is because tailor made information it is highly required so as to avoid wasting the precious time of academicians and this can be only achieving with the help of information and communication technology software, therefore, descriptive method was adopted in the methodology of this study.
