Purpose. A review and discussion of philosophical works published in the “Folia Turistica” journal and the categorical, thematic and problematic contribution of philosophical reflections contained in them to multidisciplinary research on tourism. Method. Query of 49 issues of “Folia Turistica”, selection of articles and reviews on tourism from the perspective of philosophical disciplines or selected philosophical concepts. Analysis, comparison, interpretation oriented towards an existential sense, values and ideas, synthesis. Findings. The review of philosophical publications in the “Folia Turistica” journal has demonstrated the quantitatively and qualitatively significant contribution of philosophical approaches, interpretation and conceptualisation of tourism and the mobility of human travel to tourism research. The specificity of the philosophical problematisation of the phenomenon of travel consists in highlighting and analysing its ideal, essential, existential, epistemic and symbolic qualities and meanings that find its significance in the axiological preferences, in the area of intentionality, attitudes and experiences. Research and conclusions limitations. The work is limited to the description and comparative analysis of articles published on the pages of one journal, its results and generalisations are, therefore, not a universal concept. Practical implications. Promotion of the “Folia Turistica” journal in the Polish and global academic debate on the multi-faceted phenomenon of tourism. Outlining the philosophy of tourism as an innovative and inspirational field of research. Originality. The work is a discussion and interpretation of publications of other authors-philosophers, but it contains elements of independent interpretation and synthetic recapitulation. Type of work. Presentation, description and qualitative interpretation of theoretical analyses of tourism in the field of philosophy and its sub-disciplines, as well as investigations conducted from the perspective of selected philosophical positions (phenomenology, hermeneutics, existentialism, metaphysics of hope, etc.).

Purpose. The aim of the article was to assess the place of geography in research, the results of which were published in "Folia Turistica" journal in the years 1990-2018. In the introduction, the author wonders what is characteristic of the subject of geographical research, or what distinguishes it from other areas of knowledge. Assuming that "geographicity" means to include the subject of research in the context of the spatial differentiation of a given phenomenon, the author determined that out of 485 texts published in "Folia Turistica" during the analysed period, 140 correspond to such defined "geographicity". In the further part of the article, the spatial scale of tourism research conducted from a "geographical" approach was addressed, as well as an attempt to answer the question: what problems were most often faced by the authors of the texts in "Folia Turistica" and from which geographical centres did they originate? Method. After determining which features texts written from a "geographical" approach should have, the article presents the results of the conducted research in this respect, referring to the main problems raised in articles considered as "geographical". Results. Many of the texts considered to be geographical were written by people who are not formally geographers. In the final conclusions, the author formulated a thesis stating that the border in the method of conducting research between studies on tourism from a geographical position and from the position of other sciences, is often unnoticeable. Research and conclusions limitations. The criteria for the selection of articles, although consistent with the adopted definitions of geography, were subjective. Practical implications. The article refers to other studies concerning the place of individual sciences in the achievements of "Folia Turistica" journal. Originality. The results of the query presented in the article cover all the issues of "Folia Turistica", including the issue already appearing in the course of writing this article. Type of work. The article is review in nature.

Purpose This study presents a comparative analysis of water quality data in an urban micro watershed to study the magnitude of impacts on the water quality parameters over the last decade. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the degree of deterioration using the water quality index. Design/methodology/approach Rapid urban growth without proper land use and occupation planning results in the overload of urban water resources. Therefore, a literature review was conducted on the research subject published in the dissertation databases of the Engineering Faculty of Ilha Solteira, which resulted in the selection of two dissertations on water quality in the Ipê Stream, Ilha Solteira – SP, Brazil. The results will be evaluated according to the Brazilian laws and regulations in force. Findings This study shows that pollution and degradation in the stream intensified during the study period, with the most impacted areas within the urban perimeter. Practical implications The increasing impacts underscore the need for efficient measures such as implementation of retention reservoirs, elimination of clandestine sewage connections and restoration of riparian forests. Originality/value This study highlights the need to monitor the water quality of streams in order to establish preventive and mitigating measures to avert the growing environmental impacts and to ensure quality water for future generations.

Purpose– the article explores how did management accounting concept evolve and develop in Russia during the post-Soviet era. This study is informed by the specific way of the development of management accounting in Russia and a lack of related studies. Research methodology – this is a historical study based on archival methods. Evidence was obtained from sources varying from related literature to personal field notes and reflections arising from observations and experience gained in my more than 2 decades as a consultant and educator in the field of management accounting. The analysis in this study follows an interpretive approach: a narrative analysis of evidence used the model of thematic analysis to arrive at the findings. Findings – the results of the research demonstrate that the management accounting evolution in Russia contains three distinct periods: 1990’s – transactional focus, mainly related to cost; 2000’s – management accounting as an internal advisory function; 2010’s – management accounting on its way to financial leadership. This evolution followed the same path as in the developed markets, however, the patterns of this typology in Russia were much weaker. The driving forces of the development of management accounting were different than in the environment of developed markets. The benefits of management accounting to the overall corporate success were insignificant at each of the discussed phases. Research limitations – research results could be influenced by contextual nature and subjectivity of interpretative analysis, possible incompleteness and subjective selection of archival data, limited resources for analysis and interpretation. Practical implications – the research enriches our understanding of the development of management accounting in emerging economies, and it could support decisions in the transformation of financial function along with its maturity continuum. Furthermore, this research could be used as a part of the content of programs in professional and business education. Originality/Value – there is a lack of similar studies, which makes the research a significant contribution to existing conversations in science and professional practice

Abstract The analysis of the production and yield of sunflower seeds in Ukraine for the period from 2000 to 2019 was conducted in the article. The comparative analysis of the gross harvest of sunflower seeds and the export of sunflower oil for the years under research was carried out. The dependence of exports on gross harvest was revealed and its share was calculated. It was determined that the export of sunflower oil has increased over the years under research, which indicates a significant Ukraine’s export potential. It was found that the increase in the share of exports by 15.9% was made possible by a qualitative change in yield, that was ensured by the changes in the cultivation technology and by the selection of sunflower hybrids that are better adapted to climate changes. The recommendations for further improvement of cultivation technology in connection with climate change in order to further increase yields and the export potential of Ukraine were given.

The aim of this article was to propose a framework based on the theory of self-congruity and on Hofstede’s uncertainty avoidance. The framework was to combine destination personality, self-congruity, uncertainty avoidance, and tourists’ revisit intention. The present conceptual paper proposed an integrated model of self-congruity which incorporates the effect of uncertainty avoidance. More importantly, the uncertainty avoidance was introduced as a moderator between self-congruity and revisit intention. Based on the theoretical framework proposed in this article, the estimated results affirmed the applicability of the theory of self-congruity for tourism research. Moreover, by extending the theoretical model through the incorporation of a variable of uncertainty avoidance in the context of tourism, this article offers a significant contribution to the tourism literature. It is important to understand how the theory of self-congruity applies across a broad cultural spectrum. This article also offers several implications for destination marketing organizations from a practical perspective.

Using a two (crisis response strategy: diminish vs. rebuild) × three (source: brand organization vs. brand executive vs. brand fan) experimental design, this study examines how brand fans (i.e., consumers who identify with a brand) can be prompted to protect a brand’s reputation during crises and how the selection of a crisis spokesperson can influence consumers’ evaluations of the crisis communication. Being buffers for their preferred brands, brand fans are more likely to accept their brand’s crisis response and engage in positive electronic word-of-mouth on social media. Brand fans are more likely to evaluate other brand fan’s social media accounts as a credible crisis communication source, whereas those who are not brand fans are more likely to evaluate brand and/or brand executives as credible. Findings provide theoretical applications in paracrisis literature pertaining to social media but also practical implications for brand managers to strategically utilize brand fans in crisis communication.
