Soil preparation with single-operation serial machine-tractor units requires multiple passes over the field, which leads to excessive soil compaction and loss of fertile layer, increased consumption of fuel and lubricants. The use of machines with dynamic tillage tools to prepare the soil for sowing allows regulation of soil pulverization intensity and performing a technological operation in one pass. The aim of the research is to study the possibilities of a combined approach to graded tillage, combining static and dynamic tillage tools. The main disadvantages of tiller are poor penetration ability, high metal and energy consumption. The authors found that the rational joint use of static and dynamic tillage tool in the cultivator for graded soil treatment may reduce the energy consumption for the top layer cultivating by 1.5 times. Such aspects, as the degree of influence of the parameters and operating modes of the tiller on the specific energy consumption of processing, soil pulverization intensity and degree of the content of erosion-hazardous particles in the upper layer are revealed, design and operating parameters of the combined cultivator and its tillage tools are substantiated.

Compression ratios of the engine considerably affect the performance and emission behavior of an engine. The paper discusses about effect of compression ratios on the operating parameters such as brake specific fuelconsumption (BSFC), brake specific energy consumption (BSEC), brake thermal efficiency (BTE) and volumetricefficiency on a stationary diesel-CNG dual fuel engine by adding hydrogen fraction as a combustion booster. Theexhaust emission behavior of the engine is also presented. Addition of hydrogen in CNG has given better resultsthan diesel-CNG dual fuel operation of the engine. The volumetric efficiency and emissions like NOx are theparameters which needed attention towards this study. The paper presents experimental results and analyzes them.

The effect of pulsed voltage application on energy consumption during electrocoagulation was investigated. Three voltage profiles having the same arithmetic average with respect to time were applied to the electrodes. The specific energy consumption for these profiles were evaluated and analyzed together with oil removal efficiencies. The effects of applied voltages, electrode materials, electrode configurations, and pH on oil removal efficiency were determined. Electrocoagulation experiments were performed by using synthetic and real wastewater samples. The pulsed voltages saved energy during the electrocoagulation process. In continuous operation, energy saving was as high as 48%. Aluminum electrodes used for the treatment of emulsified oils resulted in higher oil removal efficiencies in comparison with stainless steel and iron electrodes. When the electrodes gap was less than 1 cm, higher oil removal efficiencies were obtained. The highest oil removal efficiencies were 95% and 35% for the batch and continuous operating modes, respectively.

The analysis of soil cultivation technologies for sowing melon crops was carried out. The design of a combined soil tillage tool capable of plowing, pre-sowing treatment and formation of irrigation furrows in one pass was substantiated. The main tillage is recommended to be done by front plow tools for smooth plowing. Plow bodies of two bottom plows should be mounted along the symmetry axis of the implement according to the lister scheme, which allows not to carry out a full rotation of soil layers and provides automatic formation of irrigation furrow. A loosening and leveling device for strip pre-sowing soil tillage in the sowing zone has been developed. The use of a combined soil tillage tool can reduce labor costs up to 25%, energy consumption for soil preparation up to 50%, reduce the duration of work, reduce soil compaction and retain moisture in the soil layer.

Energy evaluation of steam-water cycle operation with mathematical modelling application In recent years, we can observe the development of the thermal diagnosis and operating control systems based on measuring techniques and mathematical modelling of processes improvement. Evaluation of the actual operating state is insufficient to make an optimal operating decisions. Thus, information about the influence of the operating parameters' deviations from the reference state on indicators describing energy consumption of the process (for example specific heat consumption or specific energy consumption) is also necessary. The paper presents methods for generation the information about the influence of the steam-water cycle operating parameters on specific heat consumption in a turbine's cycle. A mathematical model of steam-water cycle for a CHP (Cogeneration - also Combined Heat and Power) unit is being worked out. Methods for calculation of operating deviations with the application of correction curves and a mathematical model are described. Exemplary calculation results are presented.

Statistical analysis was applied to optimize the electrochemical mineralization of ibuprofen with two boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes in a continuous electrochemical flow reactor under recirculation batch mode. A central composite rotatable (CCR) experimental design was used to analyze the effect of initial pH (2.95–13.04), current intensity (2.66–4.34 A), and volumetric flow rate (0.16–1.84 L/min) and further optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) to obtain the maximum mineralization efficiency and the minimum specific energy consumption. A 91.6% mineralization efficiency (EM) of ibuprofen with a specific energy consumption (EC) of 4.36 KW h/g TOC within 7 h of treatment was achieved using the optimized operating parameters (pH0 = 12.29, I = 3.26 A, and Q of 1 L/min). Experimental results of RSM were fitted via a third-degree polynomial regression equation having the performance index determination coefficients (R2) of 0.8658 and 0.8468 for the EM and EC, respectively. The reduced root-mean-square error (RMSE) was 0.1038 and 0.1918 for EM and EC, respectively. This indicates an efficient predictive performance to optimize the operating parameters of the electrochemical flow reactor with desirability of 0.9999993. Besides, it was concluded that the optimized conditions allow to achieve a high percentage of ibuprofen mineralization (91.6%) and a cost of 0.002 USD $/L. Therefore, the assessed process is efficient for wastewater remediation.”

At present, in many regions of the Russian Federation, post-harvest processing of grain is carried out directly on the farms themselves. Produced grain is mainly used for fodder and seed purposes. This is predetermined by difficult weather conditions, and freshly harvested grain is fed to the post-harvest treatment unevenly, it has high humidity and debris, a significant heterogeneity of seeds by ripeness. Machines and equipment of grain cleaning and drying stations and complexes do not fully comply with the properties of the grain pile, which leads to a decrease in their throughput, disruption of processing, the accumulation of large masses of raw grain heap, lengthening the time of harvest, increased losses and reduced quality seeds. Reception and temporary storage of a pile of grain in aerated receiving bunkers with forced ventilation of the pile causes an improvement in the technological properties of the seeds, a decrease in humidity and grain contamination. The use of aerated bunkers for receiving and temporary storage of a grain heap, increase the energy consumption for grain cleaning and heating of the heap. The reduction of specific energy consumption for the operation “Reception of a grain heap” is possible by optimizing both the design parameters and the operating modes of aerated bunkers. The research of the authors showed that the preliminary drying of the grain heap can improve the productivity of the heap cleaner, improve the flowability of the grain pile, the working conditions of the gravity flow devices and the quality of the preliminary cleaning of the grain. The inclusion of the heat generator in the technology of post-harvest processing of grain and the use of heated air in the operations of receiving and pre-cleaning the grain leads to a decrease in the moisture content and grain contamination, an increase in the supply of heap of grain, as well as to the intensification of subsequent technological operations. The paper presents a model of the functioning of the technological process of post-harvest grain processing in the receiving and pre-cleaning unit of the grain pile.
