The chapter discusses library support services in a distance education system and their value and importance in the overall development of a learner in general and a distance learner in particular. The chapter also traces how emerging digital technologies allow libraries to offer efficient support services to distance learners. This case of Distance Library Services at a university in India describes the evolution, experiences and challenges of offering distance library services through the university. The chapter focuses on information literacy and use of social networking tools. Development of information literacy is critical for distance learners, and social networking tools based on Web 2.0 technologies may provide library services and impart information literacy to distance learners. The chapter concludes with some suggestions pertaining to opportunities and future propositions.

Many authors agree that it is essential to integrate social networking tools and sites with education. On the other hand, environmental education represents an umbrella for many forms of education that already exist and new ones that remain to be created. Bearing this in mind as well as the increasing use of Facebook in education, the key aspect of this chapter focuses on scientific research about modeling the use of Facebook in environmental education among students of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Organizational Sciences, Serbia. The research clearly points out the educational benefits of implementing Facebook with, subsequently, a significant improvement of students’ environmental awareness. The investigated model of using Facebook, presented in the chapter, could be useful to other educators, giving them suitable information about the possible ways to improve students` achievements in environmental and other kinds of higher education.

The paper examines the accessibility, accuracy, currency and user-friendliness in ten selected library websites of the colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi. It further, discusses services and facilities being offered by the websites. The data were collected through a well-structured checklist from the selected colleges under study. The study reveals that maximum number of college libraries have mentioned information related to introduction 9(90 %), library staff 8(80 %), library hours 6(60 %) and membership 6(60 %) on their websites. However, study also report that none of the library websites/web-pages have features of social networking tools, feedbacks, regular updates and they also lack in providing question papers, news-clippings, user manual and single window search. The study findings reveals that Deshbandhu College library scored thirty eight (38) out of43 which is highest (ranked 1st) whereas Ramjas College scored only five (05) out of 43 and stands last. The study suggests, for carrying out such evaluative studies which is the need of hour to enable the institutions to update their websites periodically and come up with flying colours on user’s expectations

The present paper focuses on the explore of social media such as Face book, Twitter, Whatsapp, etc. to work as an effective tool for imparting information or knowledge and prove helpful in making awareness among Library and Information Science (LIS) Professionals of University Libraries of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad as most important aspect of social mediaas its emphasis on online collaboration and sharing because it has social networking, user centric characteristics. Data was collected by means of a questionnaire that was circulated among the LIS Professionals of University Libraries of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad randomly. Present article reports the survey of social media, in making awareness among LIS Professionals. Analysis will help the LIS professionals in deriving the benefits of Social media.

<p class="apa">The study examined ‘Students’ Involvement in Social Networking and attitudes towards its Integration into Teaching. The study was carried out in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The population of the study consisted of 17,618 undergraduate students enrolled into full time degree programmes in the University of Uyo for 2014/2015 academic session. The design of the study was survey design with ex-post facto approach. Random sampling technique was used to select 1730 students from the 12 faculties in the University. The instrument used for the study was ‘Students’ Social Networking and Attitude Questionnaire which was validated by an expert in curriculum studies and an expert in measurement and evaluation in the University of Uyo. Cronbach’s Alpha Statistical method was used to determine the reliability coefficient of .70 for the instrument. Two research questions and two null hypotheses tested at .05 level of significance guided the study. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer research questions; Independent t-test and Analysis of Variance were used to test the hypotheses. The results show that there is significant difference in involvement of university undergraduate students in Social Networking based on course of study, level (year) of study and age. Female undergraduate students’ involvement in social networking is higher than that of their male counterparts; but male undergraduate students showed a higher positive attitude towards integration of social networking into teaching and learning.</p>

This study aimed to show the extent of teenagers who represent students Tèbessa University contents of violence and crime that is seen or published or traded them through the media and communication affected, especially through social networking sites and networks, such as Facebook and stringing YouTube and Skype, etc., which may contribute to the formation and strengthening of behaviors negative in these through the following problem: Do you contribute to social networking sites through the implications of violence and crime in a negative impact on the behaviors of the students within the university community ?, also deliberately researcher to sample the estimated inventory of 50 students schooled at the Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences and Management Sciences of each section by an estimated 10% of the study population as a whole's (2000) the adoption of simple random sampling technique, the results have also been addressing the adoption system (SPSS) , Which resulted in the results: the presence of a statistically significant correlation between the students' use of social networking sites and the spread of deviant behavior within the university community?, And no statistically significant differences in the adverse effects of the use of social networking sites on the behavior of students depending on the sex variable, the largest of any female average for the benefit of, No statistically significant differences in the adverse effects of the use of social networking sites on the behavior of students depending on the variable physical level ?,No statistically significant differences in the adverse effects of the use of social networking sites on the behavior of the students due to the level of scientific student ?,The study also called attention to the recent media study the impact of the implications of violence and crime across social networking on the behavior of young people and adolescents sites, spreading awareness programs to help solve the problems of this phenomenon.

This investigation aimed to determine the use of web 2.0 services in the Catholic University Cecilio Acosta (UNICA) site by the institution, located in Maracaibo city, Venezuela. The theoretical contributions were supported by O'Reilly (2007), Lévy (2004), Rheingold (2004), Surowiecki (2005), Cobo (2007a), among other authors. The investigation comes from a project attached to the UNICA Research and Postgraduate Deanery, was descriptive, an observation guide was applied to collect information from the UNICA website and the 2.0 services to which it is associated as the platforms for vertical social networks YouTube, Instagram and SoundCloud, and platforms for horizontal social networks Facebook and Twitter. Among the most relevant findings was the exclusive use of social networking services for interaction with the university community, without including other services that seek to generate knowledge. It is concluded that UNICA uses web 2.0 services in its site in a limited and non-strategic way, with a purely informative nature that includes specific topics of the university and the catholic church, which could hinder the knowledge management as process of 21st century universities.
