The Effectiveness of the RAFT Strategy in Developing Creative Writing Skills of Eighth Grade Students in Public Schools

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to describe the following matters. First, it describes the reading skills of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 8 Padang. Second, describe the news writing skills of VIII students of SMP Negeri 8 Padang. Third, it describes the correlation between reading comprehension skills and news writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive methods. The results of this study are three. First, reading comprehension skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Padang are in good qualifications. This was concluded based on an average count of 81.13. Second, the writing skills of news texts for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Padang are in good qualifications. This can be seen from the acquisition of the average news text writing test count of 81.25. Third, there is a significant correlation between reading comprehension skills and news writing skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Padang at n-1 degrees of freedom and a significant level of 95%. The null hypothesis is rejected and the work hypothesis is accepted because the test result prove the t value is greater than t table 3.81 > 1.68. Based on the result of the study above, it was concluded about the knowledge of reading skills in reading news texts of eight grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Padang.Kata Kunci: korelasi, membaca pemahaman, menulis teks berita

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describe the writing skills of exposition text of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang before using discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media. Second, describe the writing skills of exposition text of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang after using discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media. Third, describe the influence of discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media on writing exposition text skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. The sample in this study was class VIII.2 with 29 students. The results of this study are three, namely as follows. First, exposition text writing skills before using the discovery learning learning model assisted by audiovisual media of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang are in almost adequate qualifications with an average value of 53.45. Second, the skill of writing exposition text after using the discovery learning model assisted by audiovisual media of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang is in a qualification of more than enough with an average score of 70.11. Third, based on the t-test, the alternative hypothesis (H_1) is received at a significant level of 95% and the degree of freedom (dk) = n-1 because of tcount> t table, which is 4.79> 1.70. This means that there is a significant influence on the use of discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media on the exposition writing skills of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 25 Padang. The purpose of this study was to describe the effect of the use of the discussion method on the writing skills of the eighth grade students' MTsN Dangung-Dangung District Five Puluh City. The method used is an experimental method. The results of the study found that learning by the discussion method affected the writing skills of the eighth grade students of MTsN Dangung-Dangung, Lima Puluh Kota. Data analysis shows that the discussion method has an effect on the skills of writing review texts. This is evidenced by an increase in the experimental class with the student score pretest time mean value ( ) is 67 after the discussion method has been applied, an increase with an average value / mean ( ) is 83. Whereas in using conventional methods students also value effect even if the increase in value is not too high. The pretest time mean value ( ) is 48. After applying conventional methods, the average value increase (mean) is 61. So the learning outcomes of students taught using the discussion method are better than the learning outcomes of students in the control class taught with conventional learning. ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is (1) describes the vocabulary mastery of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang, (2) describe the news text writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang, and (3) analyze the contribution of vocabulary mastery to news writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive methods. Contributions are calculated using the determinant coefficient formula with correlational research design. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang in the 2018/2019 school year with a total of 219 people spread over eight classes. The sample of this study was 136 people, taken using propotional random sampling. Based on the results of the study, it is known that (1) the vocabulary mastery of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang is more than adequate with a value of 67.34, (2) news writing skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang are in good qualifications with a value of 81.43, (3) there is a significant relationship between vocabulary mastery and news text writing skills of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang with a count of 0.222 greater than rtable 0.168 at dk = 135 alpha 0.05 with a contribution of X to Y of 4.06%.Kata Kunci: kontribusi, kosakata, teks berita

This study aims to describe (1) poetry writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Payakumbuh District using conventional methods. (2) poetry writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Payakumbuh District using a type of quantum learning model. (3) the effect of using the quantum teaching model of quantum teaching to the poetry writing skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3, Payakumbuh District. This research is using experimental method. Data analysis shows that the quantum teaching model of quantum tandur is influential in learning to write poetry in Indonesian subjects in the experimental class. This is due to an increase in student grades which at the time of the pre-test mean value () is 67. After applying the type of quantum learning model (quantum teaching) in the learning process at post-test with an average value () is 80. This is seen from the results of the comparison of tcount with ttable (, 6798> 2,021) because tcount is greater than ttable then Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. So, the learning outcomes of experimental class students who are taught with quantum teaching models are better than the learning outcomes of control class students who are taught using conventional methods. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) keterampilan menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh menggunakan metode konvensional. (2) keterampilan menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh menggunakan model pembelajaran kuantum (quantum teaching) tipe tandur. (3) pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran kuantum (quantum teaching) tipe tandur terhadap keterampilan menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kecamatan Payakumbuh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran kuantum (quantumteaching) tipe tandur berpengaruh dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di kelas eksperimen. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya peningkatan nilai siswa yang mana pada waktu prates nilai rata-rata () adalah 67. Setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kuantum(quantum teaching) tipe tandur dalam proses pembelajaran pada waktu pascates dengan nilai rata-rata () adalah 80. Hal ini di lihat dari hasil perbandingan thitung dengan ttabel ( ,6798>2.021) karena thitung lebih besar dari ttabel maka Ha (hipotesis alternatif) diterima. Jadi, hasil pembelajaran siswa kelas eksperimen yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kuantum (quantum teaching) tipe tandur lebih baik dibanding hasil pembelajaran siswa kelas kontrol yang diajar menggunakan metode konvensional. The present Classroom Action Research (CAR) initiated when the researcher found the students at the eighth-grade students of SMP Juara Pekanbaru had low writing skills. This problem could be identified from their base scores below the standard minimum score (GPA). It was 64,06. The purpose of this research was to try to develop the students’ writing skill and to know the factors that influenced the changing of students’ writing skill. This research was conducted from March up to May 2019 in two cycles consisted of ten meetings. The participants of this research were 27 students of the Andalusia class. In improving the students’ writing skill, a narrative text was used as a learning media. The instruments used in this research were writing test, interview, field note and also observation list to help understand the phenomenon. This research showed that the students got the score 72,22 in cycle 1 dan 84,49 in cycle 2, especially on organization with an increase of 4,47. It could be seen that scrambled pictures media could improve the students’ writing skill.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the use of cooperative learning model two stay two stray towards the skill level essay writing exposition class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental method. The design of this study one group pretest and posttest design. Total population of 224 students. The sample in this research is class student of SMP Negeri 9 Padang VIII.1 by the number of 31 students were determined using purposive sampling technique. In this research there are two variables, namely (1) exposition essay writing skills of students before using cooperative learning model type of two stay two stray and (2) exposition essay writing skills of students after using cooperative learning model type of two stay two stray. The instrument used in this study tests the performance. This research data result score skill tests exposition essay writing class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Padang before and after using cooperative learning model type of two stay two stray. The results of this study based on the t-test, the alternative hypothesis (H_1) received the 95% significance level and degrees of freedom (df) = (N_1 + n_2) -2 because ttable <thitung (1.67 <8.19). In other words, the writing skills essay exposition eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang after using cooperative learning model type of two stay two stray better than writing skills essay exposition eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang before using cooperative learning model type of two stay two stray. Thus, cooperative learning model two stay two stray can be applied in teaching essay writing skills exposition.

Writing is one of language skill that must be mastered by the language learners.The teacher must be selective in relevant methode, media and technique, that is can engage the students to be more effective and creative in achieve the goal of learning. One of the media that is used in language teaching is email,because, it may motivate and reinforce any language skill the students. And as graphic commuicatioan to give the certain massage accurately and short with use the language it easy to be understand.The statement of the problemsof thisresearch are; (1) Is there any effect of email on students‟ writing skillsat the eighth graders ofMTs. Mu’allimat NW Kelayu in the school year2017-2018? (2) To what extent is the effect ofemail on students‟ writing skills at the eighth graders of MTs. Mu’allimat NW Kelayu in the school year2017-2018?. This study belongs to a pre experimental research. The population was the eighth grade students of MTs. Mu’allimat NW Kelayu consisting of two classes. However the present researcher just took one class as sample there were 20 students as the experimental class. To get the data, the present researcher used research instrument namely written test.The result of data analyze, the present researcher found out the result rtest was 0.52 and r tablewas 0.38 with df = 5% from the total of sample was twenty students. It means rtest was higher than rtable (0.52> 0.38). So that, the present researcher concluded alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that there was effect of email on students‟ writing skillsatthe eighth graders of MTs. Mu’allimat NW Kelayu in the school year2017-2018

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study consists of three things as follows. First, it describes the level of reading skills in understanding the short stories of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Padang. Secondly, it describes the level of short story writing skills of students of VIII SMP Negeri 1 Padang. Third, describe the relationship between reading skills understanding short stories and short story writing skills of students of VIII SMP Negeri 1 Padang. The variables of this research are the short story comprehension reading skills as the X variable and the short story writing text writing skills as the Y variable. The research data were the scores of the short story reading comprehension test skills of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang and the scores of the results of the short story writing skills text review of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang. The results of this study consisted of three things as follows. First, the reading skills of the short story comprehension of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang are in the Qualification More Than Enough with an average count of 67.01. Second, the short story writing skills of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang in short story writing are in the Fair qualifications with an average count of 62.15. Third, based on the results of the t-test, an alternative hypothesis was accepted at the 95% confidence level. Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Membaca Pemahaman Cerpen, Menulis Teks Ulasan Cerpen
