Abstract: The article investigates the poetics and perception of interartistic performances, using two theatre productions – NO47 A Girl That Was Looking for Her Brothers (2014) and NO33 Hysteria (2017) – by Estonian performance artist and scenographer Ene-Liis Semper at the Theatre NO99 as case studies. A theoretical and methodological framework will be developed for the purpose of the analysis, based on Erving Goffman’s notion of the frame and on transformative aesthetics elaborated in art research and psychology.   Artiklis uuritakse kunstidevaheliste etenduste poeetikat ja taju, tuginedes kahele juhtumiuuringule – etenduskunstniku ja stsenograafina tuntud Ene-Liis Semperi lavastustele  „NO47 Tüdruk, kes otsis oma vendi“ (2014) ja „NO33 Hüsteeria“ (2017) Teatris NO99. Selleks arendati välja spetsiaalne teoreetiline ja metodoloogiline raamistik, lähtudes Ameerika sotsioloogi Erving Goffmani terminist raam ning filosoofias (Dewey 1958), psühholoogias (Pelowski ja Akiba 2011) ja teatriteaduses (Fischer-Lichte 2008) tuntud transformatiivse esteetika käsitlustest. Kunstidevahelise etenduse defineerimisel on tuginetud Patrice Pavisile, kes termini kunstidevaheline (interartistic) puhul on eristanud viit tähendusvälja, millest viimane ja kõige kitsam tähistab ühe kunstiliigi printsiipide projektsiooni ühele või mitmele teisele kunstiliigile. Ta on toonud kunstidevaheliste teoste näiteks etenduskunsti ja installatsiooni, mis tsiteerivad ja adapteerivad teiste kunstiliikide tehnikaid ja aspekte. (Pavis 2016, 103) Kuid kuidas mõista performatiivse pöörde järgses kultuurisituatsioonis, kus etenduslikkus on tunginud peaaegu kõikidesse kunstiliikidesse, kunstidevahelist etendust? Väidan, et etenduses kui heterogeenses ja laialivalguvas nähtuses on siiski säilinud või tekkinud teatud sisemised konventsioonid, mis loovad vastuvõtul kindlaid ootusi. Artiklis vaadeldakse Semperi kunstidevahelisi teoseid, kus etendus- ja installatsioonikunst on projitseeritud teatrilavastustele. Analüüsitud lavastustel on palju sarnasusi Semperi videotega: fookuses on inimkeha, situatsioonid (tegevused, kostüümid ja lavakujundus) ning kommunikatsiooniraam on teatraalsed ning kontsentreeritud meeleseisundid (Härm 2003, 26) domineerivad narratiivsuse üle. Semper otsib oma teostes teadlikult eri materjalide, meediumite ja kunstikonventsioonide kombineerimisel tekkivaid uusi ja üllatavaid kokkupuutepindasid ning nendest tekkivaid mõjuallikaid. Tema loomemeetodit võib seega nimetada kunstidevahelise esteetika poeetikaks.  Metodoloogiliselt on etendusanalüüsi kombineeritud retseptsiooniuuringutega, täpsemalt enesekohase interpretatiivse fenomenoloogilise analüüsiga. Uurisin kahe lavastuse näitel, kas ja kuidas töötab psühholoogide Matthew Pelowski ja Fuminori Akiba (2011) transformatiivse esteetilise kogemuse mudel, kus nad eristavad metakognitiivse taju viit faasi: 1) eelootused ja enesekuvand, 2) kognitiivsed oskused ja lahknevuse ilmnemine, 3) sekundaarne kontroll ja põgenemine, 4) metakognitiivne ümberhindamine ning 5) esteetiline tulemus ja uued oskused. Kokkuvõtteks võib öelda, et see mudel osutus küll kasulikuks analüüsivahendiks, kuid nagu mudelid ikka, on liiga lihtsustav ja jäik. Esiteks on keeruline, kui mitte võimatu eristada vastuvõtuprotsessis eri faase, sest mõned neist näivad toimuvat paralleelselt. Teiseks, kuna see mudel näib põhinevat selliste visuaalsete objektide vastuvõtul, mida saab haarata tervikuna ja ühe pilguga, siis ajalise kestusega teoste puhul on uue info pealevoog pidev ja see sunnib vastuvõtjat alustama mudeldatud protsessiga ühe uuesti ja uuesti, liikudes pidevalt faasist 1 faasini 4. Kunstidevahelised ja teised hübriidsed teosed loovad uusi eneseväljenduse võimalusi, võimaldades kunstnikel ületada eri kunstiliikide ning kunsti ja mitte-kunsti vahelisi piire. Kuid olulisem on see, et kunstidevahelised teosed värskendavad vastuvõtja tajusid ja tähendusloome mehhanisme ning lõhuvad harjumuslikke tajuraame, valgustades nii läbi subjekti käsutuses olevate tajuraamide loogika, ning juhivad kunsti, ühiskonna ja vastuvõtja metakognitiivse analüüsi juurde. Kunstidevahelised etendused, mis suudavad endasse akumuleerida peaaegu kõikide teiste kunstiliikide väljendusvahendid ja isegi mitte-kunstilised valdkonnad, on eriti tugevad performatiivid, sest oma stiimulite rikkuse, etenduste keskmise kestvuse ja oodatava(te) tajuraami(de) tõttu on neil suur potentsiaal vastuvõtjat tugevasti mõjutada – transformeerida ning võibolla isegi häirida kogukonna või ühiskonna traditsioone ja norme.

AbstractResearch on the emergence of institutionalized inequality has traditionally maintained an analytical divide between lived institutions that affect daily life and performed institutions materialized in mortuary contexts. Here, we argue that convergence or divergence between lived and performed contexts reveals key aspects of past social organization. When combined, mortuary archaeology and bioarchaeology provide a methodological framework well suited to evaluate the coherence or dissonance of such institutions. Three case studies from prehistoric Europe highlight how new insights gained by studying tension between institutions, identities and experiences across social dimensions can transform our understanding of the development of institutionalized inequality.

The objective of this work is to present an overview of how research on Municipal Councils of Education has been developed in Brazil. This is a review study that had as its initial reference Souza and Vasconcelos’s (2006) article, which addressed the production regarding the Councils related to Education from 1996 to 2002. This research, in turn, covers a broader period and was carried out based on the survey of Doctoral dissertations and Master’s theses available in the Catalog of Dissertations and Theses and Open Data of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - CAPES. Altogether, 111 dissertations and theses were identified across the country, defended between 1998 and 2019, with the highest concentration of research being observed in the Southeast region. The theoretical and methodological framework included discussions by authors such as: Cury (2004), Bordignon (2009), Mainardes (2018, 2021), Gil (2019), among others. It was verified that the production around this theme has grown over the years, with a predominance of case studies, in which the specific aspects of the Municipal Councils of Education are analyzed and how they act in the face of educational demands, denoting special interest of researchers about democratic management, participatory democracy and representativeness in the Municipal Councils of Education. At the end of this text, the systematization of the survey carried out is presented, with the works organized in 19 categories.

This paper proposes a new methodological framework to identify economic clusters over space and time. We employ a unique open source dataset of geolocated and archived business webpages and interrogate them using Natural Language Processing to build bottom-up classi- fications of economic activities. We validate our method on an iconic UK tech cluster – Shoreditch, East London. We benchmark our results against existing case studies and admin- istrative data, replicating the main features of the cluster and providing fresh insights. As well as overcoming limitations in conventional industrial classification, our method addresses some of the spatial and temporal limitations of the clustering literature.

AbstractCollaborative archaeology is a growing field within the discipline, albeit one that is rarely analyzed. Although collaborative approaches are varied and diverse, we argue that they can all share a single methodological framework. Moreover, we suggest that collaborative archaeology projects can be evaluated to determine the variety among projects and to identify the elements of engaged research. We provide two case studies emphasizing project evaluation: (1) inter-project evaluation of community-engagement in British Columbia archaeology and (2) intra-project evaluation of co-management archaeology projects in Western Australia. The two case studies highlight that project evaluation is possible and that a single framework can be applied to many different types of projects. Collaborative archaeology requires analysis and evaluation to determine what facilitates engagement to further the discipline and to create better connections between archaeologists and community members. The discussed case studies illustrate two shared methods for accomplishing this. The paper argues that collaborative approaches are necessary for advancing archaeological practice.

This book offers a novel perspective on how people engage in sensing the materiality of the world as a way of social interaction. It proposes a conceptual and analytical advance in how to approach sensing as an intersubjective and interactional phenomenon within the framework of conversation analysis and ethnomethodology. Based on a uniquely rich set of video-recorded data, the author shows how people reacting to cheese in gourmet shops across Europe highlights the part the senses play in human behaviour and communication. The multimodal analysis of the case studies reveals the systematic features of looking, touching, smelling, and tasting in situated activities. By blending interdisciplinary research with real life, the volume puts together a theoretical and methodological framework for studying the embodied and linguistic dimensions of sensing in interaction.

AbstractThis study applied a comprehensive methodological framework consisting of different epistemological approaches (Mixed Methods). The correlational (quantitative) part established the interrelations between the investigated variables, while the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) further inferred causal relations for 65 countries in Europe and the Americas. The qualitative part used Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine four case studies (Switzerland, Uruguay, Cuba, and Colombia).The regression analysis of this study quantitatively explores the relations among factors/variables (macro). QCA adds causality considerations and bridges quantitative relations and qualitative analysis (meso). The four case studies are purely qualitative (micro).

Purpose – Research in entrepreneurship education faces substantial tensions and methodological challenges. Building on a review of extant empirical studies in the field, the purpose of this paper is to develop an integrative methodological framework for studying entrepreneurship education. Central questions are: What forms of entrepreneurship education research exist? Which data sources, research methods and approaches are used in this research? What are the methodological strengths and weaknesses of entrepreneurship education research? How can entrepreneurship education research be improved methodologically? Design/methodology/approach – The paper combines a literature review with a conceptual discussion. The review identifies 88 journal articles reporting empirical studies of entrepreneurship education published between 2002 and 2012. The literature is coded according to method used, type of study, data collection and analysis techniques. From the analysis of the reviewed literature, a conceptual discussion of the advantages and drawbacks of various methods is undertaken, and an integrated approach to entrepreneurship education research is proposed. Findings – Research in entrepreneurship education is fragmented both conceptually and methodologically. Findings suggest that the methods applied in entrepreneurship education research cluster in two groups: first, quantitative studies of the extent and effect of entrepreneurship education; and second, qualitative single case studies of different courses and programmes. Benefits and drawbacks haunt both clusters. Quantitative studies bring objectivity, comparability and generalizability, but show limited appreciation of the heterogeneity of the education they seek to measure. Qualitative single case studies are ripe with contextually sensitive descriptions and best pedagogical practices, but suffer from limited comparability and generalizability as well as severe biases of teacher-researcher conflation. Originality/value – The suggested methodological framework builds on a systematic review of the research methods applied in extant entrepreneurship education research. It integrates qualitative and quantitative techniques, the use of research teams consisting of insiders (teachers studying their own teaching) and outsiders (research collaborators studying the education) as well as multiple types of data. To gain both in-depth and analytically generalizable studies of entrepreneurship courses and programmes, the suggested framework integrates the empirical sensitivity of qualitative techniques and diverse research positions, with the rigour of quantitative measures. The authors argue that studies of entrepreneurship education benefit from this integration. Furthermore, the authors describe a variety of helpful methods, explore the potential relation between insiders and outsiders in the research process and discuss how different types of data can be combined. The integrated framework urges researchers to extend investments in methodological efforts and to enhance the in-depth understanding of the dynamics and challenges of teaching entrepreneurship.

ABSTRACTThis paper addresses the issue of corporate sustainability. It examines why achieving sustainability is becoming an increasingly vital issue for society and organisations, defines sustainability and then outlines a set of phases through which organisations can move to achieve increasing levels of sustainability. Case studies are presented of organisations at various phases indicating the benefits, for the organisation and its stakeholders, which can be made at each phase. Finally the paper argues that there is a marked contrast between the two competing philosophies of neo-conservatism (economic rationalism) and the emerging philosophy of sustainability. Management schools have been strongly influenced by economic rationalism, which underpins the traditional orthodoxies presented in such schools. Sustainability represents an urgent challenge for management schools to rethink these traditional orthodoxies and give sustainability a central place in the curriculum.
