To achieve an effective graduate educational reform, faculty development emerged as a key factor. It facilitates the professional and instructional growth of lecturers and promotes improvement in the institution through helping them become contributors to the school’s mission. The study was designed to determine the research skills of graduate professors based on the Expected Performance Standards (EPS) set by one private Higher Education Institution (HEI) as input to training and development. The descriptive-cross-sectional design and descriptive statistical analysis were used. The teaching outcomes were based on the average performance from the three assessments conducted by the Dean among the professors during the academic year 2014-2015. The results exposed that the faculty were outstanding in achieving the objectives of the graduate program by showing mastery of subject matter, relating current issues and community needs, and participating the activities of professional organizations. However, they were just satisfactory in demonstrating mastery of research skills in relation to research output, assisting graduate students in developing research competencies, and showing professional growth through research activities and publications. These are essential inputs to training and development program to continually upgrade the professorial lecturers’ research preparation, dissemination and utilization.

The outcomes of patient care are improved by adequate knowledge, practical skills, and positive attitude. Currently, there is a lack of data on medical research activities among resident doctors in Saudi Arabia. This study aimed to evaluate the perception, barriers, and research attitudes among various residency programs running in different cities of Saudi Arabia. A total of 434 surgical and medical residents participated in the current study. A cross-sectional study encompassing multiple training centers in the eastern province of Saudi. Convenient sampling technique was used to include all the working training residents. A self-administered questionnaire was formulated for data collection. Descriptive statistics were employed to analyze the data. The mean age of the residents with various specialties was 27.83 ± 2.41 years. Approximately 61.7% had participated in research, while 38.3% had never participated in any research. A total of 26% of junior and 44% of senior residents have one publication only. While 11% of junior and 9% of senior residents have three publications or more. Inadequate facilities for research, lack of baseline research skills, and personal commitments were the reasons which over 60% of respondents had agreed on. Institutional reasons: lack of professional supervisor support and lack of research curriculum in the training program was reported by 308 (71%) and 305(70.3%) residents, respectively. A lack of interest for research was prevailed more in males (19%) compared to females (14%) (OR 1.43, 95% CI: 0.86–2.38, p-value 0.17). A subset of residents had one or three publications, while some had none. A lack of baseline research skills and inadequate facilities for scientific explorations, time, and funds were the main constraints among training residents. However, several residents had a positive attitude toward research but fewer publications. Thus, training in medical research methodology should be obligatory in the residency curriculum in all specialties. Further research is needed.

The primary function of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Laws, at the very beginning of its inception, was that of teaching civil law and Sharî’ah subjects. As it matured, its vision has been varied from teaching to that of research with the aim of attaining the status of a full research institution that provides both quality research and best legal education in the region. Similar to other institutions of higher education in Malaysia, the responsibility of research is a shared function of both graduate students and the academic staff. The research output, on the part of the students is mostly composed of either Master Dissertations or PhD Theses. The academic members of the Faculty, however, are involved either in direct research, individually or jointly, supervision, and publications of their findings. By investigating and analyzing factors influencing research activities at AIKOL in the past twenty years, the researchers will be able to identify the general trends and development of research as it unfolded over years. The researchers hope that the policymakers, at both Faculty and University levels, will use the findings to improve research quality by boldly addressing the problems hampering research progress at AIKOL.

There is a need for multimodal strategies to keep research participants informed about study results. Our aim was to characterize preferences of genomic research participants from two institutions along four dimensions of general research result updates: content, timing, mechanism, and frequency. Methods: We conducted a web-based cross-sectional survey that was administered from 25 June 2018 to 5 December 2018. Results: 397 participants completed the survey, most of whom (96%) expressed a desire to receive research updates. Preferences with high endorsement included: update content (brief descriptions of major findings, descriptions of purpose and goals, and educational material); update timing (when the research is completed, when findings are reviewed, when findings are published, and when the study status changes); update mechanism (email with updates, and email newsletter); and update frequency (every three months). Hierarchical cluster analyses based on the four update preferences identified four profiles of participants with similar preference patterns. Very few participants in the largest profile were comfortable with budgeting less money for research activities so that researchers have money to set up services to send research result updates to study participants. Conclusion: Future studies may benefit from exploring preferences for research result updates, as we have in our study. In addition, this work provides evidence of a need for funders to incentivize researchers to communicate results to participants.

The Advanced Research and Technology Development (AR&TD) Fossil Energy Materials Program is a multifaceted materials research and development program sponsored by the Office of Fossil Energy of the U.S. Department of Energy. The program is administered by the Office of Technical Coordination. In 1979, the Office of Fossil Energy assigned responsibilities for this program to the DOE Oak Ridge Operations Office (ORO) as the lead field office and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) as the lead national laboratory. Technical activities on the program are divided into three research thrust areas: structural ceramic composites, alloy development and mechanical properties, and corrosion and erosion of alloys. In addition, assessments and technology transfer are included in a fourth thrust area. This paper provides information on the structure of the program and summarizes some of the major research activities.

Pregnancy and giving a birth are natural processes experienced by productive ages women; in this case the mothers will undergo several changes, either physically or psychologically. After giving a birth, some adjustments are required by mothers. Some of them are able to adjust themselves and some of them are not. Events, Reviews those Unable to adjust Themselves undergo a psychological disturbance the so-called "Maternity Blues". The mother's milk clogging is one of the problems during the period of parturition. This matter can not be neglected, because the best food for the babies is the Mother's Milk. This is a cross-sectional research. The researcher performed a research on mothers having postpartum on the 2nd day till the 10th day, the for the undergoing and non-undergoing the Maternity Blues. The samples consist of 36 mothers of having postpartum with the inclusion criteria, among others: the mother with postpartum on the 2nd till the 10th day, understanding the English language, having the history of depression, having the Apgar Score of more than 7, the baby is full term (having enough month in its mother's womb). Instruments used in this research are the Maternity Blues Scale, functioning to detect Whether a mother Suffering from Maternity Blues or not, and the other instrument to know the existence of the Mother's Milk clogging is the Six-Point engorgement Sale. The Data are analysed by using the Man Witney Test. Based on the hypothetical testing, it is Obtained that the value of p = 0.930 bigger than 0:05. Thus, it is concluded that H a is rejected, meaning that there is no difference in the events of the Mother's Milk on mothers undergoing clogging and non-undergoing the Maternity Blues. The research output indicates that there is no difference in the events of the Mother's Milk on mothers undergoing clogging and non-undergoing the Maternity Blues, in the which both of them similarly experience the Mother's Milk clogging.

This study aims to analyze and understand the training and development program carried out by SMP YAMIS Jakarta in improving the quality of its human resources. This research uses a qualitative case study approach. The data collection technique is done through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis is done through data presentation, data reduction, and concluding. The results showed that the training and development program carried out by SMP YAMIS Jakarta in improving the quality of its human resources was through the Subject Teacher Consultation (MGMP) activities which were carried out periodically by the existing schedule, involving teachers in seminars on learning methods that creative, innovative and fun, holding independent training in schools by inviting resource persons who are experts in the field, and programmed supervision carried out by school principals to employees regarding the achievement of planned educational goals.

ABSTRACT Objective: To correlate the satisfaction of graduates with their training according to their professional characteristics and general competences. Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study with a sample of 192 Nursing graduates from a private higher education institution in the city of São Paulo. Data were collected between 2016 and 2017. Results: Graduates placed in the job market within one year (p=0.01) had nursing as their main source of income (p=0.011) and occupation (p=0.014); those who considered themselves professionally successful and those who would choose the profession again (p=<0.001), if they could choose, were more satisfied with their training. Satisfaction with training was linked to the competences acquired during graduates’ training, such as decision making (p=0.002), leadership (p=0.004) and continuing education (p=0.005). Conclusion: The study shows that most graduates consider their training satisfactory when analyzed with the study variables.

This study investigated the relationship between training and development and productivity of workers of Nigeria Agip Oil Company, Port Harcourt. A review of relevant literature revealed that intellectual response to the issue focused on the relationship between training and productivity in other work organizations and also excludes managerial development. They also failed to specify the method of training, and omitted the development of managers in connection to workers’ productivity. This enabled the researchers to identify the gap in knowledge on this area of research, taking cognizance of the various training and development methods, such as on-the-job, off-the-job trainings and development of managers. In the bid to investigate the relationship between the variables, four research questions and four hypotheses were posed to guide the study. Human capital theory was utilized in the clarification and explanation of the causal connection between the study variables. Simple random and random samplings were adopted. The sample size of 316 was determined with the aid of Taro Yamane Statistics, from the population figure of 1500. The study adopted cross-sectional research design and generated data through survey. Data were generated through the questionnaire and analysed using percentage, while chi-square (X2) statistics was applied to test the hypotheses. The study concluded that there is significant relationship between on-the-job training, off-the-job training, development of managers and productivity of Nigeria Agip Oil Company, Port Harcourt respectively. It also found significant relationship between training and development of workers and inducement by the acquired knowledge and skills to look for better jobs in other organizations. The study thus recommended regular on-the-job training, regular off-the-job training and development of managers, amongst others. The study thus established that training and development significantly cause workers’ productivity in Nigeria Agip Oil Company in Port Harcourt.

Texas Medicaid Section 1115 waiver approved Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program has four categories, namely infrastructure development, program innovation and redesign, reporting of quality improvement outcomes, and population health improvement. A metric of the fourth category, preventable hospitalization rate, was analyzed for a set of eight diagnostic conditions to assess the impact of DSRIP on participating- and non-participating hospitals over two time periods, pre-DSRIP and post-DSRIP, with the help of a cross-sectional segmented time series regression model. Texas Healthcare Information Collection database was leveraged to obtain preventable hospitalization rate data. The dependent variables were preventable hospitalization rates of eight program-specified conditions and the independent variables were time, intervention, and post-implementation intervention. The overall combined preventable hospitalization rate for DSRIP hospitals was observed to decrease by 25.73%, whereas the overall combined preventable hospitalization rate for non-DSRIP hospitals was observed to increase by 37.57%. DSRIP hospitals had invested in coordinating healthcare projects and were subsequently reimbursed by the state for healthcare improvements. The implementation of DSRIP may have had the capacity to decrease preventable hospitalization rates in regions wherein its adoption may have improved the health of the population.
