This paper reviewed the perception of sexual harassment of employees in the work environment. It examined the nature of sexual harassment, its causes and its implication on the Nigerian worker. A review of related works of literature on the topic under study was done and the paper shows that workplace sexual harassment is a social problem that depends on gender, context and perceived ideology. It also buttressed that apart from the social and political factors that make women more vulnerable to sexual harassment than men, cultural factors play a prominent role. The researchers recommend among other things that psychological dynamics underlying the perception of sexual harassment should be examined critically by researchers, in order to be able to identify harassment that is just a figment of the perceiver’s imagination and actual sexual harassment. Also, victims of sexual harassment should be protected by stringent legislation to deter any harasser in the workplace, and there should be a forum for victims to report and voice out their grievances.

The paper therefore x-rays the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on migration dynamics by analyzing types and trends dynamics of migrants’ movement, demographic dynamics of migration as related to the inflow of remittances (both cash and in-kind) to SSA countries prior to the pandemic. Also discusses the constraints of transferring cash remittances and subsequent decline posed by the COVID-19 outbreak during and beyond the pandemics. Secondary evidence from Somali and Nigeria were analyzed on the constraints of remitting cash, while in-kind remittance from the Republic of Chad was evaluated. The importance of remittances to the home communities was established. Measures to safeguard SSA migrants’ mobility and their remittances, citing some selected countries of destination, were exploited. The paper concludes that COVID-19 impacts on migration should be opportunities for policymakers (both home and destination countries) to reset their efforts towards protecting migrants and their future activities.

Despite the widespread belief that corporate reputation is a valuable intangible asset that helps firms to compete favourably in the telecommunication industry, the scientific evidence is deficient on how corporate reputation influence customer satisfaction in the study area. The study focused on the relationship between corporate reputation and customer satisfaction. The survey research design method was employed in the study. The research instrument was a validated structured questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was estimated by assessing the internal consistency of the items representing each construct. Cronbach’s alpha was used to establish the reliability of the constructs. The correlation and multiple regression analyses were used in the study. The sample size of 135 respondents was administered with the questionnaire. The finding of the analyses revealed that trustworthiness (B = 0.251, P<.001); corporate social responsibility (B = 0.283, P<.001); credibility (B = 0.198, P<.001) and reliability (B = 0.219, P<.001) were respectively significant and exhibited significant positive effects on customer satisfaction. The major conclusion that emerged from the findings is that corporate reputation is a multifaceted construct whose dimensions have significant positive relationships with marketing performance outcome of customer satisfaction in the mobile telecommunications services industry. In the competitive context, managers should apply the dimensions of corporate reputation that is appropriate for their target segment and develop their customer satisfaction strategy.

Although the social security legal perspective is usually associated within a national legal frame, international developing relations are giving increasingly the opportunity to consider social security as something not necessarily granted within the State. This is rising the matter of labor as a direct source of social security as well as the need to mind social legislation philosophically before then defining it legally. An interesting debate for the establishment of a higher level of social protection in Europe is that regarding the proposal for a EU Directive, a legal tool that would be binding on European member states, introducing a European minimum wage.

This study investigated the relationship between training and development and productivity of workers of Nigeria Agip Oil Company, Port Harcourt. A review of relevant literature revealed that intellectual response to the issue focused on the relationship between training and productivity in other work organizations and also excludes managerial development. They also failed to specify the method of training, and omitted the development of managers in connection to workers’ productivity. This enabled the researchers to identify the gap in knowledge on this area of research, taking cognizance of the various training and development methods, such as on-the-job, off-the-job trainings and development of managers. In the bid to investigate the relationship between the variables, four research questions and four hypotheses were posed to guide the study. Human capital theory was utilized in the clarification and explanation of the causal connection between the study variables. Simple random and random samplings were adopted. The sample size of 316 was determined with the aid of Taro Yamane Statistics, from the population figure of 1500. The study adopted cross-sectional research design and generated data through survey. Data were generated through the questionnaire and analysed using percentage, while chi-square (X2) statistics was applied to test the hypotheses. The study concluded that there is significant relationship between on-the-job training, off-the-job training, development of managers and productivity of Nigeria Agip Oil Company, Port Harcourt respectively. It also found significant relationship between training and development of workers and inducement by the acquired knowledge and skills to look for better jobs in other organizations. The study thus recommended regular on-the-job training, regular off-the-job training and development of managers, amongst others. The study thus established that training and development significantly cause workers’ productivity in Nigeria Agip Oil Company in Port Harcourt.

The family unit is the basic unit of society and same cannot (literally speaking) be birthed without the woman or its foundation concretized without her nurture. However, it seems from happenings in the Nigerian society that the Nigerian woman is faced with some challenges that endangers her well-being, her role as a vessel of demographic growth and her indispensable nurturing function in the home. Many of these challenges appear to be caused by the masculine gender. Though and sadly so in some cases as would be shown anon, women themselves are the harbinger of some of these problems. Canvassing the emancipation of the woman has been the focus of many female gender rights activists and this paper aims to contribute to same vide an examination of the challenges that face the female folk in Nigeria and in extension the family unit with its negative effects on the larger society from a social cum legal perspective or discourse. The spectrum of this discourse will traverse issues like abandonment, effects of superstitious belief in witchcraft, death in the course of earning a living, break-up of the family unit due to meddlesomeness of third parties, sexual violence against women and alleged complicity of law enforcement agents in shielding its perpetrators and a host of other varied issues.

This paper examines the strategies employed by female characters to re-evaluate gender disparity in Macgoye’s novel Coming to birth. Despite the different structures put in place to limit women’s access to opportunities, the female characters in Coming to birth device ways out of such limitations thereby attaining some agency. Gender inequality is a phenomenon that has been in existence from time immemorial. In most societies across the world, gender inequality is entrenched in its social, cultural, political, historical and economical spheres that inform the workings of particular institutions. I also hasten to add that the manifestation of gender disparity varies from one region to another and therefore by analysis and discussion is largely informed by the primary text and relevant secondary sources consulted.

This article focuses on an evaluation of William James’ pragmatic concept of truth. Pragmatism is one of the contemporary schools of thought or movements in philosophy. It emphasizes the practical aspects of ideas or theories. Among the basic issues in pragmatism is the issue of truth. The basic questions are: What is pragmatism? How does William James conceive truth in his pragmatic theory? Is truth objective or relative? Is truth static or ever-changing? Is there any relationship between truth and practical consequences of things? Is truth intrinsic or extrinsic to an idea? These and other related issues are the major focus of this article. William James, in his pragmatism, approaches truth from the perspective of its practical consequence, and argues that truth ‘happens’ to an idea. The researcher argues that though William James’ pragmatic concept of truth is associated with some problems, he has made outstanding contributions to scholarship by bringing out the practical implications of truth, and extricating it from rationalistic tendency as well as dogmatism.

The issue of national language and national development has been at the forefront of language issues in nation-states. The persistent demand for a national language seems to stand from the point of view that it will engender national development. The present study critically examines the case of Nigeria from the historical perspective, the case of a single national language and its role in national development, or otherwise, in a densely multi-linguistic and pluralistic Nigeria. Finally, the paper makes an attempt at formulating an appropriate and comprehensive choice of language policy that recognizes the language of the people across geographical boundaries and the exogenous language in order to foster generic development, national cohesion and accelerated national development.

Generally, it is often said that change is the only constant thing in the world. In other words, as time changes, people’s ways of doing things equally changes. This paper seeks to compare the political culture of first century Palestine (in which Jesus lived and ministered) to the political culture of contemporary Ghana. To this end, the study compares and contrasts the reign of Herod in the first century Jerusalem with Political actors in Ghana’s Fourth Republic. It is a literature-based research that draws from both primary and secondary sources. The study found that, there is not much difference between the politics of today and that of Jesus’ day. It, therefore, makes Solomon`s statement there is nothing new under the sun still relevant today.
