Being one of the scales used in family studies, Making Decisions Scale aims to evaluate how decisions are shared between spouses. The aim of the current study is to adapt Making Decisions Scale to Turkish and evaluate its validity and reliability in a sample consisting of women. Explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted using data provided by 219 female participants. The findings of explanatory factor analysis revealed three factors representing expenses, social activities, and behaviors. The factors explained 44.27 % of the variance. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the three-factor structure with fit indexes [χ2 (30) = 70.80, p = .000, χ2/sd = 2.36, CFI= .90, GFI = .93, RMSEA = .09]. Convergent and divergent validities of the scale were also evaluated by examining the relationships between the scale and relevant or independent concepts. The reliability of the scale was assessed by examining internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha .83), composite reliability (.76), and test-re-test reliability (r = .82, p < .001). Findings indicated that the Turkish form of Making Decisions Scale can be used in family studies as a valid and reliable measurement device. The purpose of this research is to develop the Counselor Attitude Scale for Spirituality in Counseling. The study group consists of 386 (253 female, 133 male) counselors. The methods of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses are used to determine the construct validity of the scale. A single-factor structure consisting of seven items has been obtained as a result of the exploratory factor analysis. The compatibility the one-dimensional model has with the data is tested using confirmatory factor analysis. The single-factor model has been determined to have good fit indexes as a result of the analysis (RMSEA = .04, RMR = .03, GFI = .98, AGFI = .95, CFI = .99, IFI = .99, NFI = .98). Cronbach’s alpha coefficient has been calculated as .89 for the reliability analysis of the scale and the test-retest coefficient as .88; the 27% lower-upper group t values are found to be significant (p<.001). The findings show the developed scale to be psychometrically valid and reliable, and useful for assessing counselors’ attitudes towards spirituality in counseling interactions.

This study introduced the Scale of Adolescents’ Perceptions Toward Adults (SAPTA), which was developed in Turkey. The validity and reliability study for SAPTA was performed using the data obtained from 1008 high school students whose ages ranged between 14 and 18. The internal consistency coefficient calculated with the Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) data obtained from 381 students was found to be 0.78 for the sub-scale named “Admired Adult Characteristics,” 0.66 for the sub-scale named “Disturbing Adult Characteristics,” and 0.69 for the entire scale. The internal consistency coefficient calculated with the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) data obtained from 627 students was found to be 0.82 for the sub-scale named “Admired Adult Characteristics,” 0.68 for the sub-scale named “Disturbing Adult Characteristics,” and 0.72 for the entire scale. The Spearman-Brown split-half test reliability value was found to be 0.74. The results of the analysis indicate that SAPTA has psychometric characteristics sufficient for determining the perceptions of adolescents, whose age range between 14 and 18 years.

This study aims to adapt the Sanctification of Marriage Questionnaire for Muslims inIndonesia. Adaptation of the Sanctification of Marriage Questionnaire is carried out throughthe stages: translation, providing evidence of construct validity and reliability. Evidence of construct validity was carried out by exploratory factor analysis followed by MGCFA (Multi-Group Confirmatory factor Analysis). In this study, we used a composite reliability. Subjects to reveal the factor structure of sanctification of marriage were 160 married individuals, while the subjects to test the stability of factor structure consisted of 102 husbands and 111 wives. The result of exploratory factor analysis shows that the construct of sanctification of marriage has three factors / dimensions, namely: belief, perceived sacred qualities and manifestation of God. The structure stability of sanctification of marriage was then empirically tested by MGCFA. The results of MGCFA showed that the three factors / dimensions of sanctification of marriage proved stable. The composite reliability coefficient of the Sanctification of Marriage Questionnaire was in a good category. Further research can be carried out to provide evidence of construct validity with predictive validity and concurrent validity of the Sanctification of Marriage Questionnaire. <p><strong>Abstract </strong></p><p>The purpose of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of Relationship Deciding Scale (Vennum &amp; Fincham, 2011) for Turkish culture.</p><p>The sample of the study consisted of 880 students (EFA=439, CFA=441) studying at Karadeniz Technical University. Criterion-related validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted for the validity of RDS while internal consistency, split half and test-retest techniques were performed to examine the reliability of RDS.<strong></strong></p><p>Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed that the scale had two-factor structures. However, two items were removed from the scale because they didn't have appropriate factor loadings. The scale consisting of 10 items explained 58.97% of the total variance. The results of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) indicated that the model was compatible with the data. In the reliability analysis for EFA and CFA samples, Cronbach alpha coefficients were found as .87 and .86 respectively. Internal consistency coefficients of subscales were found as .83 and .80 for “Relationship Confidence”, .82 and .84 for “Directing Relationship”. According to test-retest reliability analysis results, the whole scale’s coefficient was <em>r</em>= .67.<strong> </strong>In addition, as a result of criterion validity analysis, correlations (<em>r</em>= .33) between Self-Control Scale (Duyan, Gülden &amp; Gelbal, 2012) and Relationship Deciding Scale (RDS) were found to be statistically significant.<strong> </strong>In conclusion, these findings suggest that RDS, which has two-factor structures with 10 items, can be suggested as a valid and reliable instrument in Turkish culture.<strong></strong></p><p><strong>Öz</strong></p><p>Bu araştırmanın amacı, Vennum ve Fincham (2011) tarafından geliştirilen İlişkide Karar Verme Ölçeği’nin (Relationship Deciding Scale) Türk kültürüne uyarlanması ile ilgili geçerlik ve güvenirlik işlemlerini yapmaktır.</p><p>Araştırma grubu Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören 880 öğrenciden (AFA=439, DFA=441) oluşmaktadır. İlişkide Karar Verme Ölçeği’nin (İKVÖ) geçerlik işlemlerinde, ölçüt bağıntılı geçerlik, açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi, güvenirlik işlemlerinde ise iç tutarlılık, testi yarıya bölme ve testin tekrarı tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır.</p><p>Yapılan açımlayıcı faktör analizi (AFA) sonucunda ölçeğin iki faktörlü yapı gösterdiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Uygun faktör yüklerine sahip olmadıkları için iki madde modelden çıkarılmıştır. 10 maddeden oluşan ölçek toplam varyansın %58.97’sini açıklamıştır. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizli sonuçları (DFA) verinin modele iyi uyum sağladığını göstermiştir. AFA ve DFA örneklemleri için yapılan güvenirlik analizlerinde, Cronbach alfa iç tutarlılık kat sayıları sırasıyla .87 ve .86 olarak bulunurken alt ölçekler için bulunan iç tutarlılık kat sayıları ise “İlişkide Kendine Güven” için .83 ve .80, “İlişkiyi Yönetme” için .82 ve .84’tür. Ölçeğin test tekrar test güvenirliğinin <em>r</em>= .67 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca ölçüt geçerliği kapsamında yapılan analizler sonucunda Öz Denetim Ölçeği (Duyan, Gülden ve Gelbal, 2012) ile İKVÖ arasında .33 değerinde beklenen yönde bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Bu çalışma sonucunda İKVÖ’nün Türk kültüründe geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu değerlendirilmektedir.</p>

Background and PurposeThis study was carried out as a validity and reliability study of the Turkish version of the Diabetes Fatalism Scale (DFS) and to investigate its psychometric properties in the Turkish society with type 2 diabetes patients.MethodsExploratory factor analysis was conducted to assess the scale’s factor structure. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to validate the “best fit” model.ResultsThe explanatory factor analysis and CFA results confirmed the three-factor structure of the scale. The Cronbach’s α, item-total correlation and test—retest analyses showed high reliability.ConclusionsThe results showed that DFS is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating fatalism in diabetic patients from a Turkish population.

The purpose of this article is to adapt and validate the short form of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI-SF) in Spanish. The scale consists of 10 items distributed in 5 posttraumatic growth dimensions measured in the original instrument. The psychometric properties and dimensionality of the scale are examined in a sample of college students (N = 681). Results lend support to the validity and reliability (α = .83) of the PTGI-SF. The dimensions of PTGI-SF show correlations ranging between .29 and .52. In addition, the inventory correlates significantly with deliberate rumination (r = .39) and the search for meaning in life (r = .32). The factor loadings of the items in the confirmatory factor analysis varied between .52 and .87, showing good fit indexes (comparative fit index = .97, Tucker-Lewis index = .93, relative fit index = .90, incremental fit index = .97, normed fit index = .96, and root mean square error of approximation = .05). Multigroup confirmatory factor analysis supported invariance of the PTGI-SF across the 2 groups. Finally, significantly higher PTGI-SF scores were observed in subjects who were actively looking for meaning in life, or had found it after a seeking process, than in subjects who had not looked for meaning in life or had given up because they had not been successful.

The purpose of the present study was twofold: first to adapt the Relationship and Motivation (REMO) scale addressing role of peers and teachers in students’ motivations into Turkish culture, and second to determine whether there were any differences between girls and boys regarding the scores obtained from this scale. To achieve these aims, the present research was designed to be comprised of three consecutive studies. In Study 1, linguistic equivalence was established, and results of an Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) performed on data obtained from 202 students showed that structure of the original scale was supported. In Study 2, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted using data obtained from 496 Turkish students, and the results confirmed the results of EFA. Additionally, the validity evidence was obtained by conducting another EFA with 528 students. Moreover, reliability coefficients were also found to be varying in an acceptable range. Including the same participants of Study 2 in Study 3, t-test results showed that girls had significantly higher mean scores on the subscales of peers and teachers as positive motivators, and teachers as negative motivators. On the other hand, boys had significantly higher mean scores on the scale of peers as negative motivators. Results of these studies suggest that Turkish version of REMO is conceptually equivalent to original REMO, and similarly reliable and valid. Therefore, the adapted scale can not only be used in cross-cultural comparison and but also for determining the differentiation in the relations of students with their peers and teachers.

The main purpose of this study is to identify the underlying dimensions of consumer complaining and recovery effort and to develop a multidimensional scale to measure this construct. Literature suggests that the consumer complaining and recovery effort is a four-dimensional construct consisting of procedural, cognitive, time-related, and affective components. Using data collected from hotel guests, a measurement scale is developed to assess this four-dimensional construct. First, a factor analysis is conducted on one set of data. Afterward, the underlying dimensions identified by the exploratory factor analysis are confirmed by conducting a confirmatory factor analysis on a separate set of data. Findings suggest that the scale developed in this study presents substantial convergent validity, discriminant validity, predictive validity, and reliability.

The purpose of this study was to examine the validity and reliability of Perceived Autonomy Support Scale for Exercise Settings (PASSES; Hagger et al., 2007) from teacher and from peers in Turkish context. It was conducted with volunteer university students. 230 university students completed PASSES from teacher, and 142 university students completed PASSES from peers. Each scale has 12 items with a unidimension structure. The items were rated on a 7-point Likert type scale from totally disagree (1) to totally agree (7). Each scale was analyzed by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to determine validity and by using Cronbach alpha value to determine reliability. The validity analyses for each scale showed good fit indexes in Turkish context. The reliability analyses also showed high reliability scores for each scale. Results were consistent with previous studies. It was suggested that PASSES from teacher and from peers can be used in Turkish context. ÖzetBu araştırmanın amacı “Egzersizde Algılanan Özerklik Desteği Ölçeğinin” (Perceived Autonomy Support Scale for Exercise Settings; Hagger ve diğ., 2007) hem öğretmen hem de arkadaşlar versiyonunu Türkçeye uyarlamak ve her iki ölçeğin geçerlik ve güvenirliğini incelemektir. Bu amaçla Türkçeye çevrilen ölçekler bir grup üniversite öğrencisine uygulanmıştır (öğretmen versiyonu için n = 230; arkadaşlar versiyonu için n = 142). Tek boyutlu olan ölçekler 12 ifadeden oluşmaktadır ve ifadeler tamamen katılmıyorum (1)’dan tamamen katılıyorum (7)’a doğru sıralanan yedili Likert üzerinden değerlendirilmektedir. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliğini belirlemek için doğrulayıcı faktör analizi uygulanmış, iç güvenirliğini tespit etmek için de Cronbach alfa kat sayısı hesaplanmıştır. Her iki ölçeğin yapı geçerliği bulguları iyi uyum indeksleri göstermiştir. Her iki ölçeğin iç güvenirlik kat sayıları da oldukça yüksek olarak hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular alan yazında ilgili araştırmalarla benzerlik göstermektedir. Egzersizde Algılanan Özerklik Desteği Ölçeğinin hem öğretmen hem de arkadaşlar versiyonunun Türkçede ilgili araştırmalarda kullanılabileceği önerilmektedir.

The study aims to develop a valid and reliable academic optimism scale that can be used to determine teachers’ academic optimism levels. The study was conducted through a total number of 404 primary school teachers who worked in the central districts of Malatya Province during 2014-2015 academic year. The content validity and face validity of the scale were determined via expert recommendations. An explanatory factor analysis and a confirmatory factor analysis were conducted to determine the construct validity of the scale. After the expert opinions, 80 items reduced to 64 and the data was collected by the use of these 64 items. An exploratory factor analysis revealed 5 factors reducing 64 items in to 33 and explaining 58.56% of the total variation in the data. The five-factor model obtained through an explanatory factor analysis after removal of one item as a result of the confirmatory factor analysis was observed to be highly consistent. Different from previous related research, the result showed that a new dimension as “Maneger Trust” emerged as a part of “Teacher Academic Optimism Scale”. And finally this scale could be used as a valid and reliable instrument in the future studies.
