A Muscle Contusion is a deep bruise due to traumatic blow to the soft structures such as muscle fibres, connective tissues and or blood vessels. In sports activity, Quadriceps Muscle Contusion is a very common complaint. It is a type of closed wound in which there is crushing of the muscle fibres which only allows bleeding beneath the skin. Symptoms include discolouration, swelling, pain and limitation of motion. As per Ayurvedic perspective, Quadriceps Muscle Contusion should be considered as Abhighata Janit Shoth. The present case study aims to investigate whether Ayurvedic intervention can be used as a treatment modality for acute sports injuries such as Quadriceps Muscle Contusion. A 19 years old girl came to the OPD of CBPACS with clinical features indicative of Quadriceps Muscle Contusion with resultant Hematoma. This case of was managed by Ayurvedic intervention of Kaishor Guggulu, Brihat Manjishthadi Kwath and Dashanga Lepa local application at OPD level for 14 days. The treatment gave very promising results with an overall improvement of about 76.66% in the subjective parameter used i.e. Oswestry’s disability index from 30 to 07, VAS improved from 8/10 to 2/10, at the end of 14 days of treatment.

ABSTRACT:     The present Case  study was carried out to evaluate the role of Uttar Basti in tubal blockage, in order to establish it as a safer and cost-effective Ayurvedic treatment modality. The criteria for selection of patient  tubal blockage diagnosed in hysterosalpingography (HSG). Uttar Basti was administered, after cessation of menstruation, to the screened patient, through hematological, urinary, and serological (HIV, VDRL, HBsAg) investigations. The results suggest that Uttar Basti is a highly significant treatment modality for tubal blockage in this Patient, with no apparent complications. Uttarbasti is ideal local therapy is to be adopted in tubal block. Kshartail is very good vata kaphashamak  guna and  lekhan  properties , taila is having the property to reach minute channels in body. Phalaghruta is best for all yonirogas, also to reduces dhaha which is due to Kshar tail.

Twin studies have mostly focused on the pattern of maladaptive behaviour manifested by the twins and their biological basis but the findings have remained controversial till date. The present case study explores the psychopathology in 14 year old twins of Indian origin. They were referred for psychometric assessment and psychotherapy for their conduct problems. The tools administered on them during psychometric assessment are Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children IV (WISC-IV), Rorschach Inkblot Test (RIBT) and Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). Findings are discussed in terms of the personality processes and relationship quality of the twins.

In the last decades, geophysical methods such as magnetic survey have become a common technique for prospecting archaeological sites. At sub-Saharan archaeological sites, however, magnetic survey and correlated techniques never came into broad use and there are no signs for an immediate change of this situation. This paper examines the magnetic survey undertaken on the Nigerian site of Zilum, a settlement of the Gajiganna Culture (ca 1800-400 BC) located in the Chad Basin and dated to ca 600-400 BC. By means of the present case study, we demonstrate the significance of this particular type of investigation in yielding complementary data for understanding the character of prehistoric settlements. In conclusion, we point out that geophysical methods should play a more important role in modern archaeological field research, as they furnish a class of documentation not achievable by traditional survey and excavation methods, thus creating new perspectives for interpreting the past of African societies.

Dry eye syndrome is a common condition that results from reduced tear production or excessive tear evaporation or an abnormality in the production of mucus or lipids normally found in the tear layer or combination of these. If blinking is decreased or if the eyelids cannot be closed, they may dry out leading to dry eye. It is accompanied by increased osmolarity of the tear film and inflammation on the surface of the eye may occur of left untreated leading to pain, ulcers or scars on the cornea and loss of vision. Prevalence of dry eye range from 5% to 35% worldwide while in India it is 29.25%. Tear substitute are the only treatment modality with modern medicine, only providing symptomatic relief. Ayurveda describes similar condition called Sushkakshi Paka and this patient was treated with Tarpana and Nasya with Jeevantyadi Ghrita.

Abstract Hydrocarbons are bypassed in known fields. This is due to reservoir heterogeneities, complex lithology, and limitations of existing technology. This paper seeks to identify the scenarios of bypassed hydrocarbons, and to highlight how advances in reservoir characterization techniques have improved assessment of bypassed hydrocarbons. The present case study is an evaluation well drilled on the continental shelf, off the West African Coastline. The targeted thin-bedded reservoir sands are of Cenomanian age. Some technologies for assessing bypassed hydrocarbon include Gamma Ray Spectralog and Thin Bed Analysis. NMR is important for accurate reservoir characterization of thinly bedded reservoirs. The measured NMR porosity was 15pu, which is 42% of the actual porosity. Using the measured values gave a permeability of 5.3mD as against the actual permeability of 234mD. The novel model presented in this paper increased the porosity by 58% and the permeability by 4315%.

This article studies the effects of arthroscopic imaging treatment and clinical rehabilitation of knee sports injuries. Arthroscopy was used to perform meniscus trimming and resection for 40 patients with knee sports injuries. The ages of the patients ranged from 20 to 60 years old. All patients received routine rehabilitation training such as continuous passive motion of the knee joint, biofeedback of the lower limbs, and air pressure therapy of the lower limbs. In addition, the control group was given muscle strength training, and the training began after the patients received the quadriceps muscle strength test. The removal of the joint cavity and the joint debridement has achieved satisfactory treatment results. In the experiment, the test cases were divided into two groups, and the sensor test platform was used for signal collection. Normal activities can be resumed 2 weeks after the operation. After a follow-up of 6 to 24 months, the knee joint pain disappeared, the joint was free of swelling, and the knee function was normal up to 93%. Arthroscopic reconstruction of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligament joint repair/reconstruction of the medial and posterolateral ligament knots is safe and feasible for the treatment of multiple ligament injuries of the knee joint. It has the advantages of less trauma and quick recovery. Early postoperative systemic and standardized rehabilitation exercises can obtain good knee joint function.

Abstract Introduction:„Runner’s knee”, in other words Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) is the second, after PFPS, in terms of incidence frequency overuse injury amongst runners - 8.5 %. It is the most common cause of lateral knee pain. It mainly occurs in middle aged athletes, in the second decade of life. Cyclists, skiers, weight lifters, soccer and tennis players are next groups, where this clinical entity occurs. ITBS is typical overuse injury which results from cyclic friction (or compression) of iliotibial band on lateral epicondyle of femur. Training errors are main risk factors. Biomechanical disorders leading to this entity are: weakness of gluteus medius, lack of functional hip mobility, weakness of knee flexors and extensors, shortness of hip adductors, limited hip internal rotation. Improper saddle height, frame size or incorrect pedal position can cause ITBS among cyclists. Case study:Professional cyclist was referred to Rehabilitation Centre, complaining about severe pain located at lateral side of the right knee, lasting from 4 months. The pain was described as burning, sharp, increasing during biking, finally disabling him to continue sports activity. After biomechanical analysis we introduced functional re-education training correcting disbalances, the causes of injury. The role of tri-planar, eccentric exercises rotating the pelvis is underlined. After 7 weeks of aggressive, functional rehabilitation resumed sports activity without pain and functional limitations. Conclusions:An early diagnosis of ITBS allows for shorter rehabilitation time. It’s necessary to precisely determine biomechanical disorders leading to ITBS. 7-week rehabilitation, with functional, three dimensional exercises is effective mean of ITBS treatment. We recommend to continue this kind of exercises for 6-12 months to prevent injury recurrence

The present paper aims to highlight the physical evolution of solutions from soaking and beans cooking process. This is motivated by the desire to shed light on the particular behavior of the bean end-of-cooking solutions when they are incorporated into the soil. For that purpose, solutions from soaking were produced by putting in contact 2kg of sorted and quickly washed beans seed with 8kg of water with known physical characteristics. Concerning the solutions from cooked beans, they were produced by putting on fire the pot containing the mixture of the water from soaking and bean seeds. The beans were a variety of Phaseolus vulgaris L.,known as “Meringue”. The cooking process was done without salts. The samples of solutions were collected as follow: 30 and 60 minutes respectively after the beginning of the soaking, 30, 60, and 90 minutes after the beginning of the cooking process of the beans soaked during 60 minutes. After each sampling, the equal volume of the solution collected was replaced with the water used for the cooking process. The color of the water used for the cooking process is translucent. Concerning solutions from soaking, their coloration are gradually reddish. Solutions from soaking and cooking process became abruptly dark red. From 60 minutes of the cooking process after soaking, the dark red coloration turn to strong brown. The solution handled in the case of the present study, from soaking and cooking the beans are gradually enriched in flakes compared to the situation noticed in the water used for the cooking process. But, the enrichment becomes abruptly high with the beginning of the cooking process after the process of soaking. In terms of consequence, their physical parameters studied in the present case study all increase in the same manner, notably the mass, the volumetric mass, and the density of the different solutions. The infiltration tests made including the water used for the different processes, solutions form the end of cooking the beans, and human urine show that the infiltration rate of the water from cooked beans is very low compared to that of the water used for the processes and human urine. The total infiltration of solution of the end of cooking the bean reveals on the infiltration surface the presence of a film of a matter bearing molds, generated by the progressive settling of this solution. The correlations established between the different parameters followed up here are highly positive. But in detail, the influence of an under laid parameter, known here as temperature, has been identified as being the responsible of the questioned behavior of the parameters taken in pairs in the case of correlation studies made. Finally, from this work, it emerges that the specific behavior of the bean end-of-cooking solution when it is introduced into the soil is justified by its progressive enrichment in organic matter during the cooking process.
