The Introduction examines why “movement” is often invoked as a term in film criticism and film theory but is rarely analyzed as an aspect of film form. The reason for this is twofold. First, because film theory has largely examined movement only as a defining property of the cinematic medium, movement is rarely singled out in film criticism. Second, because film theory has inherited the philosophical intuition that form is primarily spatial rather than temporal, formal analysis in film studies tends to break up the temporal flow of film into static units, such as in shot breakdowns and frame analyses. In film studies, then, “form” and “movement” are conceptually incompatible. As a means of thinking motion and form together, the Introduction proposes the concept of “motion forms,” generic structures, patterns, or shapes of motion. The Introduction then explores the philosophical roots of the motion form in phenomenology and Gestalt psychology, and explains how such a way of thinking about cinematic motion differs from other phenomenological approaches in film studies. Finally, the introduction outlines the six chapters of the book, each of which investigates a particular motion form that emerges throughout the history of cinema.

Quality control circles are considered an effective tool in the organization to best utilize the potential of the workforce. The objective behind using quality control circles is to use employees’ brains to generate savings and create an impact on the bottom-line of the company. The framework of the quality control circles shown in Table 2 proposed the structured seven steps strategy to use the workforce's potential for continuous improvement in the organization. Companies confront multi-faceted issues and challenges in the operational processes and corporate excellence thus mainly depends upon the effective and efficient quality controls to overcome the product, process, machine, and material related issues that hamper the production efficiency, quality of the product, and overall productivity of the company. This paper attempts to develop the system dynamics model of quality control circles based on normalized data of the case company. Participation in quality control circles is voluntary in nature and passion to learn and improve is the intrinsic motivation for employees and organizations to join these circles. Employee involvement to participate and produce creative ideas in these circles is the key to the success of these quality-enhancing programs (Jerman et al. 2019) and model outcome depicts the same story. The quality control circle model indicates that a set of inter-related and interdependent skills and behaviors are a necessary condition to increase participation in the quality control circles and productivity of projects under consideration. The computer-based software STELLA is used for programming the model of quality control circles using the generic structures of the company under study. Underlying feedback structures and interactions among various variables makes the model closer to the real-life setting.

We define the interpolative fusion [Formula: see text] of a family [Formula: see text] of first-order theories over a common reduct [Formula: see text], a notion that generalizes many examples of random or generic structures in the model-theoretic literature. When each [Formula: see text] is model-complete, [Formula: see text] coincides with the model companion of [Formula: see text]. By obtaining sufficient conditions for the existence of [Formula: see text], we develop new tools to show that theories of interest have model companions.

This chapter zeroes in on Horrible White People shows’ generic structures, aesthetic innovations, and relationship to sitcom history, focusing particularly on how the sitcom has historically perpetuated an idealized form of aspirational white domesticity and contained, incorporated, or appropriated racial and ethnic diversity. This chapter traces the significant ways Horrible White People shows break from sitcom conventions and highlight how rather than celebrate or romanticize kinship and solidarity as the genre’s traditional focus on idealized nuclear families does, this cycle of bleakly comic, white-cast rom-com sitcoms wallows in the anxieties and neuroses of contemporary alternative family structures and relationships. These failed white subjects disrupt the utopic family sitcom and romantic comedy’s generic structures with serialized plots and replace the fantasy of familial unity and heterosexual coupling with self-destructive narcissism. The darker lighting, isolating single-camera cinematography, and grimmer aesthetics of these shows centralize families that are unable to protect members from the outside world. So, by delving into the high-production-value aesthetics and the usually bleak affects of the cycle, the focus is on the ways in which these dystopian white couples and families function to either justify or come to grips with the failures of contemporary white political and social liberalism. Horrible White People shows challenge the conventions and histories of the sitcom genre to appear progressive, self-critical, antiracist, inclusive, and feminist, but they ultimately recentralize white suffering under the seemingly protective guise of liberal social critique. The disillusion with family and lack of narrative closure in these shows leaves the white protagonists suspended in a space of precarity, unable to fulfill their neoliberal capacity without the safety of family, jobs, or often even ambition.

This study investigates the written test results of the Indonesian undergraduate students’ argumentative essay. For that reason, three research questions are made. 1). what is the level of achievement of the students in the argumentative essay quantitatively? 2). what aspects of an essay appear in respect to the argumentative essay generic structure as formulated? 3). how well did they use the rhetoric reputation and argument in their essay?. 27 handwriting' answer sheets of undergraduate English Department students enrolled at semester four of a state university in Indonesia were taken purposively. The data analysis uses a quantitative and qualitative approach. The results show that the students quantitatively achieved average score 76,74 which means good. All parts of generic structures were expressed in different quality. However; the organization of the essay is the lowest part compared to the other four parts respectively content, vocabulary, and language use seen from their segmented scores. This study is confirmed to be inline the previous study in that the majority of the students did not present the refutation section in both their English essays. This implies that teachers should be more aware of promoting this absent aspect as this refutation or rebuttal is a distinguishing marker in argumentative and discussion essays.
