Abstract The simulated noise used to benchmark wavelet edge detection in this work was described incorrectly. The correct description is given here, and new results based on noise that matches the original description are provided. The results support our original conclusion, which is that wavelet edge detection outperforms thresholding in the presence of white noise and 1/f noise.

Abstract In this paper, it is shown that a physically correct description of the thermophysical properties of liquid hydrocarbons is possible only when non-covalent long-range bond forces are taken into account

Abstract It can be shown that for a correct description of the motion of an inhomogeneous multicomponent mixture of gases, such concepts as a multi-velocity continuum and interpenetrating motion are not enough. This is the basis for the introduction of the concept of “poly-velocity motion”. The reason for the need to use this concept is that to describe the motion of each component of an inhomogeneous mixture, it is necessary to use not one, but two velocity fields. The use of two velocity fields to describe the motion of a mixture component is the basis for constructing a fractional model of the mixture component, in which each component is divided into two fractions. This model serves as the basis for constructing the proposed fractional diffusant model of a multicomponent inhomogeneous gas mixture.

In the article by Y. V. Kosolapov “On the Detection of Exploitation of Vulnerabilities Leading to the Execution of a Malicious Code” (Modeling and analysis of information systems, vol. 27, no. 2, pp. 138–151, 2020; https://doi.org/10.18255/1818-1015-2020-2-138-151) an inaccurate description of the algorithm CheckTrace is committed. The correct description of the algorithm CheckTrace is given below. The author apologises for the inconvenience.

Deixis as a pragmatic study in which the meaning of a language must be adapted to the context. This study of deixis is a way to find out the relationship between language and context in the structure of language itself. Not only in daily life, in literary works one of them is short stories, this deixis study is very interesting to study. This study aims to describe the deixis contained in the collection of short stories from the books of Senja, Rain, and Stories that have been finished by Boy Candra. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. The data in this study are sentences, or words and dialogues that have elements of person deixis, time deixis, and place deixis. The data collection technique used by the author is a reading and note-taking technique. The steps taken in analyzing the data are grouping the data that has been collected, classifying the data based on the categories and deixis criteria needed, and analyzing the data in the form of a clear and correct description. The results of the study found three types of deixis which became the focus of this study, namely person deixis, place deixis, and time deixis.

Although current AMBER force fields are relatively accurate for canonical B-DNA, many non-canonical structures are still described incorrectly. As non-canonical motifs are attracting increasing attention due to the role they play in living organisms, further improvement is desirable. Here, we have chosen Z-DNA molecule, can be considered a touchstone of the universality of empirical force fields, since the non-canonical α and γ backbone conformations native to Z-DNA are also found in protein-DNA complexes, i-motif DNA and other non-canonical DNAs. We show that spurious α/γ conformations occurring in simulations with current AMBER force fields, OL15 and bsc1, are largely due to inaccurate α/γ parameterization. Moreover, stabilization of native Z-DNA substates involving γ = trans conformations appears to be in conflict with the correct description of the canonical B-DNA structure. Because the balance of the native and spurious conformations is influenced by non-additive effects, this is a difficult case for an additive dihedral energy scheme such as AMBER. We propose new α/γ parameters, denoted OL21, and show that they improve the stability of native α/γ Z-DNA substates while keeping the canonical DNA description virtually unchanged, and thus represent a reasonable compromise within the additive force field framework. Although further extensive testing is needed, the new modification appears to be a promising step towards a more reliable description of non-canonical DNA motifs and provides the best performance for Z-DNA molecules among current AMBER force fields.

An important stage in the study and attribution of the Russian binding of the 18th — early 20th century is the description of the flyleaf and other elements of decorative paper. First of all, this applies to paper with marble drawings (marble paper), found in the Russian book since the 18th century. Modern researchers of Russian binding of the 18th — early 20th centuries face a number of problems related to the lack of literature on the topic, including methodological and reference, the lack of specialized collections and exhibitions of decorative paper in Russia and the lack of development in the domestic book science of the terminology for describing the binding materials. This article substantiates the need to create the nomenclature of drawings and link them to a certain chronological period. The author analyses three main groups of problems: terminological, systematization of marble drawings and their chronological correlation, problems of describing paper as a material. The first group includes different interpretations of term and unclear definition of many terms; phenomena of synonymy and polysemy when using particular names of drawings (patterns). Not only historians of the book, but also librarians, restorers, masters of individual binding, second-hand booksellers and bibliophiles have their own independently formed professional dictionary, which gives place to decorative papers. This inconsistency is reinforced by borrowing French, German and English terms, which, in turn, can also be duplicated. The author notes that systematization of decorative papers with marble drawings can be based on the methods of its colouring, but such a technological approach is not sufficient to describe a specific sample of marble paper. The article shows that various patterns periodically gained and lost popularity, then returned to bookbinding practice, but with a number of characteristic changes and additions. Correct description of the paper in binding is impossible without determining its origin (Russian/foreign), the method of production and colouring (manual/machine) and the specific properties of the material itself. At the same time, there are no methods and schemes for describing decorative paper grades. The article highlights that the development of such method will help to significantly narrow the chronological framework when attributing the binding.

The aim of this paper is to explain for broad audience the author’s result concerning the Navier–Stokes problem (NSP) in R3 without boundaries. It is proved that the NSP is contradictory in the following sense: if one assumes that the initial data v(x,0)≢0, ∇·v(x,0)=0 and the solution to the NSP exists for all t≥0, then one proves that the solution v(x,t) to the NSP has the property v(x,0)=0. This paradox shows that the NSP is not a correct description of the fluid mechanics problem and the NSP does not have a solution. In the exceptional case, when the data are equal to zero, the solution v(x,t) to the NSP exists for all t≥0 and is equal to zero, v(x,t)≡0. Thus, one of the millennium problems is solved.
