PurposeGiven the increasing industry interest in blockchain technologies for supply chain management and product traceability, this paper aims to investigate consumer purchasing intentions for blockchain traceable coffee and their psychosocial antecedents, utilising an extended model of the theory of planned behaviour (TPB).Design/methodology/approachAn online questionnaire study of 123 participants was deployed, using two traceability systems (one based on blockchain and one on a more established traceability certification) for organic coffee.FindingsAdding variables such as environmental protections, trust and habits significantly increased the predictive power of TPB. The results suggest that attitude, perceived behavioural control and environmental protections drive intentions to purchase blockchain traceable coffee.Research limitations/implicationsApart from establishing the factors affecting consumer intentions for blockchain traceable coffee, this study validates the TPB as a model of explaining coffee purchasing intentions and provides evidence of new variables that can significantly increase the model's predictive power.Practical implicationsThe proposed format of presenting traceability information along with the significant variables revealed in our study can function as a guide for designing product features and marketing strategies for blockchain traceable organic coffee. Increasing consumer awareness on product traceability will also play a crucial role in the success of these products.Originality/valueThis study is the first to explore consumer purchasing intentions for blockchain traceable coffee and establish the psychosocial variables behind them contributing, in that way, to an understudied area in academic literature as well as providing insights for a more consumer-centric design of such products.

Abstract A study has been conducted for 3 consecutive years since 2019 to 2021 to investigate the influence of cultivation system of Arabica coffee against the attack of the coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.) in Arabica coffee plantations in Aceh Tengah District, Aceh Province, Indonesia. We observed the attack level of H. hampei on Arabica coffee plants that were cultivated both organically and conventionally. The results showed that for three years observation, in general, the attack level of coffee berry borer (CBB) on organic and conventional coffee plantations was not significantly different. Observations in 2019 showed that the attack level of CBB on organic coffee plantations ranged from 27-34 % and on conventional coffee plantations ranging from 33-49 %. Observations in 2020 showed that the attack rate of CBB on organic and conventional coffee ranged from 20-40 % and 28-41%, respectively, while observations in 2021 were 25-26 % and 27-28 %. The results of these studies indicate that the level of CBB attack on organic coffee plantations is no different from conventional coffee plantations that routinely use synthetic pesticides. This indicates that in organic coffee plantations, natural enemies have played an important role in suppressing the development of CBB populations. Although the use of synthetic pesticides in conventional coffee plantations can suppress pest populations, it is suspected that these pesticides also play a role in reducing the population of natural enemies of pests. Therefore, organic coffee cultivation is much more profitable, especially it can reduce the cost of buying synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, besides ensuring the safety of coffee farmers, workers, and consumers from harmful chemical contamination from pesticides.

Abstrak. Provinsi Aceh merupakan sentral utama produksi Kopi arabika yang dikelola secara organik. Dua kabupaten yang mengembangkan kopi arabika organik yaitu Kabupaten Aceh Tengah dan Bener Meuriah yang merupakan dataran tinggi dengan ketinggian 1500 hingga 1900 mdpl. Areal pengembangan kopi organik ini memiliki fisiografi perbukitan dengan jenis tanah yang beragam yang rentan akan terjadinya erosi, sehingga akan berpengaruh terhadap kualitas lahan dan produksi kopi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dan pemetaan indeks kualitas tanah pada areal perkebunan kopi di Kabupaten Bener Meriah, Provinsi Aceh. Studi ini menggunakan metode survei deskriptif yaitu melalui pengamatan lapangan dan analisis laboratorium. Perhitungan indeks kualitas tanah (IKT) menggunakan kriteria Mausbach dan Seybold (1998) yang telah dimodifikasi Partoyo (2005). Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi karakteristik kimia tanah dan fisika tanah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sangat baik (IKT = 0,80 – 1,00). Indeks kualitas tanah pada lahan pengembangan Kopi Arabika di Kabupaten Bener Meuriah, Provinsi Aceh secara umum tergolong baik walaupun nilai SQI antara satuan lahan bervariasi dari sedang hingga tinggi.Soil Quality Index on Arabica Coffee Development Land in Bener Meuriah District, Aceh Province, Indonesia Abstract. Aceh Province is the main center of arabica coffee production and is organically managed. There are two districts that develop organic Arabica coffee, namely Central Aceh and Bener Meuriah districts (altitude 1500-1900 m above sea level). This organic coffee development area has steep physiography with various soil types and is susceptible to erosion, with the result that it will affect the quality of the land and coffee production. This study aims to evaluate a soil map of soil quality index in a coffee plantation area in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province. This study uses a descriptive survey method, namely by field observations and laboratory analysis. Calculation of the soil quality index (SQI) using the criteria of Mausbach and Seybold (1998) and modified by Partoyo (2005). Parameters were analyzed including soil chemical characteristics and soil physics. The results of the soil quality index showed eminent value, namely 0.80 – 1.00. In general, soil quality index on arabica coffee development land in Bener Meuriah Regency is classified as decent although the SQI value between land units varies from moderate to high.

Coffee is a crop of great economic importance in many countries. The organic coffee crop stands out from other production systems by aiming to eliminate the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. One of the most important limitations in the organic system is the management of diseases, especially coffee rust, which is considered the main disease of this crop. Coffee rust causes a production slump of up to 50%, significantly affecting the profitability of coffee growers. This work aims to review the integrated rust management in organic coffee crop in different producing countries. Regarding the disease management strategies, this review addresses the use of rust-resistant cultivars, cultural management, biological control, use of plant extracts, and chemical rust control by cupric fungicides. Considering the importance of the organic system, the increase in world coffee consumption, and the potential market for this kind of coffee, this review may help researchers and producers looking for alternative strategies to control rust in an organic coffee cultivation system.

Abstract This paper examines the process of implementing a Blockchain on a supply chain study case using Hyperledger. The objective of this research is to understand how to implement Blockchain technology into a business process like the supply chain. This document explains from the study case of Colombian organic coffee to develop a proof-of-concept of the technology and how establish its feasibility, isolate technical issues, and provide feedback. With the recent interest of adopting Blockchain to leverage business process capabilities, the results of this implementation show it is possible to trace product origin using Blockchain, as well they also reveal challenges that need to be addressed. This paper analyses the process used in the coffee production supply chain, the technological architecture proposed to support this scope, and a proposal to store the data into the Blockchain.

ABSTRAK Realitas yang terjadi di masyarakat Gunung Puntang telah menjadi tradisi budidaya kopi organik, sebagai lumbung perekonomian rakyat yang berkembang menjadi daya tarik pariwisata berbasis kearifan lokal. Terkait dengan adanya tradisi sistem pertanian rakyat dalam bentuk budidaya tanaman kopi organik tersebut, pada perkembangannya berdampak kepada sektor lain, yaitu bidang pariwisata. Sektor pariwisata yang kini sedang menjadi trand dalam percaturan industri kepariwisataan berbasis kearifan lokal. Isu kearifan lokal yang menjadi daya tarik dan bernilai ekonomis tinggi, menjadi peluang besar untuk dikembangkan oleh masyarakat lokal setempat. Perubahan pada tradisi bertani kopi yang dikembangkan oleh masyarakat desa hutan di Gunung Puntang, bukan semata-mata masyarakatnya untuk mencari keuntungan, namun ada faktor internal yang harus dijaga, bahwa masyarakat petani kopi Gunung Puntang merasa termotivasi dengan situasi alam dan lingkungan yang subur sebagai lahan pertanian. Adapun faktor eksternal yang mempengaruhi terjadinya komodifikasi antara lain dipengaruhi oleh adanya peluang dan tatangan kondisi perekonomian di era teknologi dan informatika sekarang. Itulah yang membuat tradisi bertani kopi organik ini sangat kuat untuk dipertahankan dan sudah melekat di mata masyarakat karena telah memberikan manfaat banyak bagi masyarakat daerah. Tulisan ini merupakan deskripsi ilmiah dari sebuah penelitian lapangan yang menggambarkan peran petani dalam menjaga hutan konservasi atau hutan sosial di Gunung Puntang dinilai penting agar pengetahuan kearifan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan tumbuhan tersebut tidak hilang oleh adanya arus moderenisasi.Kata Kunci: Tradisi Budidaya Kopi Organik, Komodifikasi, Pengembangan Pariwisata Budaya, Gunung Puntang.ABSTRACT The reality that occurs in the community of Gunung Puntang has become a tradition of organic coffee cultivation, as a barn of the people's economy that develops into the appeal of local wisdom-based tourism. Related to the tradition of the people's agricultural system in the form of organic coffee crop cultivation, in the development impact to other sectors, namely the tourism industry. The tourism industry is now being new in the world of local wisdom-based tourist industry. The issue of local wisdom that becomes an attraction and high economical value, becomes a great opportunity to be developed by local communities. The traditions changes of farming coffee are developed by the community of Forest villages in Gunung Puntang, not merely the people to seek profit, but there are internal factors to be guarded, that the community of coffee farmers Gunung Puntang feel motivated by the situation of natural and fertile environment as farmland. As for the external factors that affect the occurrence of commodification, among others, is influenced by the opportunity and the level of economic conditions in the era of technology and informatics now. That is what makes this tradition of organic coffee farming is very strong to be maintained and already inherent in the eyes of society because it has provided many benefits to the local community. This paper is a scientific description of a field study describing the role of farmers in preserving the forest of conservations or social forests at Gunung Puntang is important to make knowledge of people's wisdom in utilizing the plant is not lost by the presence of modernization.Keywords: The Tradition Of Organic Coffee Cultivation, Commodification, Tourism Development, Gunung Puntang.

Organic farming has been recommended by many experts in the world because of its positive ecological impacts such as increasing biodiversity. In Indonesia, the practice of organic farming is very widespread, including in smallholder coffee plantations. This study was intended to determine the impact of the organic farming system applied by smallholder coffee farmers for 2 years on soil arthropod diversity. On the two coffee farmlands, the conventional and organics (1 ha each), 10 plots of 5 x 20 meters were set and in each of these plots 5 sampling points were defined for collecting soil arthropods using pit-fall technique. The analysis of arthropod diversity in the two fields was quantified using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index model. The results showed that the two compared coffee farming systems had the same index of diversity (H ') and evenness (E). However, statistical tests using the Hutcheson t-test revealed that the variance in diversity of arthropods in organic coffee farms was significantly higher than in conventional ones (α <0.001). Therefore, it can be concluded that the practice of organic coffee farming, although in a short time, has been able and potent to increase the population and/or diversity of soil animals.
