The wind turbine power decreases at low wind speed. A flanged diffuser plays a role of a device for collecting and accelerating the approaching wind, and thus the optimization of the diffuser shape presents an important way to enhance the wind turbine power. In this work, a numerical parametric study was conducted on the diffuser to obtain the initial optimum form of flanged diffuser. Then, the Simplex algorithm is used to obtain the optimal diffuser shape starting from the obtained initial shape. Finally, the obtained optimum diffuser shape is used with conventional wind turbine blade. The diffuser shape is defined by four variables: open angle, flange height, centerbody length, and flange angle. The numerical simulation of flanged diffuser is carried out using the “CFDRC package. The results indicated that, the optimum diffuser shape can be obtained using simplex algorithm which maximizes the entrance average velocity to reach 1.77 times wind speed. The power augmented by a factor about 2.76:5.26 of a selected small wind turbine using the obtained diffuser shape compared to that without diffuser.

We now know much about selenium (Se) incorporation into selenoproteins, and there is considerable interest in the optimum form of Se for supplementation and prevention of cancer. To study the flux of 75Se into selenoprotein, rats were fed 0 to 5 μg Se/g diet as selenite for 50–80 d and injected iv with 50 μCi of 75Se-labeled selenite, selenate, selenodiglutathione, selenomethionine, or selenobetaine at tracer levels (~0.5 μg Se). The rats were killed at various times and 75Se incorporation into selenoproteins was assessed by SDS/PAGE. These studies found that there is very rapid Se metabolism from this diverse set of selenocompounds to the common intermediate used for synthesis and incorporation of 75Se into the major selenoproteins in a variety of tissues. No selenocompound was uniquely or preferentially metabolized to provide Se for selenoprotein incorporation. Examination of the SDS/PAGE selenoprotein profiles, however, reveals that synthesis of selenoproteins is only part of the full Se metabolism story. The 75Se missing from the selenoprotein profiles, especially at early timepoints, is likely to be both low-MW and high-MW selenosugars and related precursors, as we recently found in livers of turkeys fed Se-adequate and high-Se diets. Differential metabolism of different selenocompounds into different selenosugar species may occur; these species may be involved in prevention of cancer or other diseases linked to Se status and may be associated with Se toxicity. Additional studies using HPLC-mass spectroscopy will likely be needed to fully flesh out the complete metabolism of selenium.

The state of electricity supply in Nigeria is nothing to write home about. The situation has resulted in the government adopting the privatization policy as the elixir to the affliction of inadequate power supply in the country. Thus, this paper investigated the privatization policy of the power sector and how it affects development in the rural areas of the Ijumu local government of Kogi State, Nigeria. The modernization theory was adopted in this paper. Data acquired from 120 respondents selected with the use of the three-stage sampling procedure, was analyzed with Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS/PC) Version 20. The study revealed that privatization of the power sector has not transformed into a significant improvement in electricity supply. Consequently, the study recommends that there is need for the government to ensure that the policy adopted should be of optimum form to achieve the desired results.

Purpose This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting-edge research and case studies. Design/methodology/approach This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context. Findings This research paper concentrates on the deployment of asymmetric evolutionary game theory to reveal how innovative organizations best effect knowledge sharing by aligning the incentivized desire of masters to share their expert knowledge with the self-interest of apprentices who are highly motivated to accept that knowledge on an accelerated training path. These insights improve the strategic capacity of human resources teams to add value to their organization by encouraging the optimum form of knowledge transfer between masters and apprentices. Originality/value The briefing saves busy executives, strategists and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy-to-digest format.

The evolution of the formation of a rotative surface formed by an arbitrary spatial curve by rolling without sliding the moving torso along the fixed torso is studied. The optimum form for creation of unique architectural appearance of a construction is received. The finite element model of the building of parametric architecture by the finite element method is developed. To confirm the correctness of the design solutions, the dynamic calculation and analysis of the obtained frequencies and eigenfrequencies were performed.

It is shown in the paper that the synthesis of a signal of the optimum form is an extreme problem, the variational nature of which allows for its solution to apply the ideas and methods of functional analysis. Variational calculus was applied to study the extreme properties of the functional. An expression describing the form of the elementary signal of finite duration with minimum energy outside the working frequency band was obtained.

The infrastructural plans in the Jakarta Bay to reduce risks of flooding in Jakarta city comprise a large sea dike that encloses a retention lake. Part of the planned dike has the shape of the iconic Garuda bird. This shape is based on NCICD Stage-B Master Plan, where the form shape has not been tested on hydraulic perspective. Therefore, testing of wave run-up has been investiagated to find the optimum form of the Garuda Shape. The simulation of wave run-up uses Hawassi Model, where the model is governed by Boussinesq wave equation with considering wave-wave interaction. This paper shows that if in the future an explosion of Anak Krakatau will occur with strength 1/4th of the original Karkatau 1883 explosion, wave crests of 11m and troughs of 6m may collide against the birds head. As an alternative example, a more optimized design of the dike is constructed that reduces the maximal wave effects considerably.
