Abstract The purpose of this article is to prove a ‘Newton over Hodge’ result for finite characters on curves. Let X be a smooth proper curve over a finite field $\mathbb {F}_q$ of characteristic $p\geq 3$ and let $V \subset X$ be an affine curve. Consider a nontrivial finite character $\rho :\pi _1^{et}(V) \to \mathbb {C}^{\times }$ . In this article, we prove a lower bound on the Newton polygon of the L-function $L(\rho ,s)$ . The estimate depends on monodromy invariants of $\rho $ : the Swan conductor and the local exponents. Under certain nondegeneracy assumptions, this lower bound agrees with the irregular Hodge filtration introduced by Deligne. In particular, our result further demonstrates Deligne’s prediction that the irregular Hodge filtration would force p-adic bounds on L-functions. As a corollary, we obtain estimates on the Newton polygon of a curve with a cyclic action in terms of monodromy invariants.

With rising energy prices, the development and implementation of innovative energy-saving technologies is a priority in the production of rectified alcohol and bioethanol.  By-products of distillation are the head fraction of ethyl alcohol, fusel oil, and fusel alcohol. Existing methods of joint processing of the head and fusel fractions in one column do not provide effective removal together head and intermediate impurities, which adversely affects the quality of commercial alcohol. The aim of the work was to develop methods of joint processing of the head and fusel fractions in the column for the concentration of impurities of cyclic action, to determine the optimal technological parameters of the column, and to test the efficiency of innovative methods in production conditions: to determine the degree of extraction, the concentration of volatile impurities Three schemes of processing of the head and fusel fractions are given. The method I allowed to free the bottom products from the head and intermediate impurities of alcohol and use such a liquid for hydroselection in the epuration column. Method II allowed significantly improving the physicochemical parameters of the bottom water-alcohol products, improving the quality of rectified ethyl alcohol by more complete removal of volatile organic impurities from the zones of their maximum accumulation and reducing their content in the reflux entering the irrigation column. Method III allowed ensuring maximum removal of volatile head and intermediate impurities and reducing the loss of ethyl alcohol with the concentrate of impurities. The use of innovative methods allows for joint processing of the main and fusel fractions in the production of rectified alcohol and bioethanol, to increase the yield of marketable alcohol by 3.8%.

Coal pillars left in coal mines are often subjected to long-term submersion by groundwater and chemical solutions and are susceptible to deterioration and even destabilization damage under dynamic load disturbance. In order to investigate the effects of acidic environment on dynamic mechanical properties and porosity evolution characteristics of coal, a split Hopkinson bar (SHPB) was used to test the dynamic compressive strength and tensile strength of coal samples under different acid environment. The results showed that the sample density gradually decreased with the increase of the number of wet and dry cycles, but the decrease was significantly related to the pH value. Longitudinal wave velocity of coal sample decreases gradually with the increase of drying and wetting cycles, and the decreasing speed is first fast and then slow. The stronger the acidity of the solution, the more times the dry-wet cycle, and the higher the water absorption of the sample. In the early stage of dry-wet cycle, the coal is significantly affected, and the average deterioration degree is large. After that, the influence of cyclic action is reduced, and the average degradation degree is small. Porosity of coal increases continuously under the action of dry-wet cycle. The stronger the acidity, the greater the change in initial porosity. In the 20th cycle, the porosity of the acidic environment increases significantly at once and then decreases continuously.

The most important task of precision engineering on the modern stage is the development of effective technological processes of manufacturing, providing not only achieving high precision at low costs, but also retaining the original in terms of accuracy throughout the life of the product. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in studying the possible negative effect of ultrasonic mechanical vibration in the process of stabilizing the deformation of circular plates on the subject of appearing of various kinds of micro-cracks, which result will be a sharp decrease in resource products in general, and to make a comparative analysis of changes in the properties and structure of the material. (Materials and methods) Half of the prepared samples were processed using a thermomechanical technology based on the cyclic action of a liquid or gas in different temperature conditions, the other part of the samples was processed using the proposed technology based on the method of ultrasonic mechanical action. The end section of the round plate for both processing options was prepared. (Results and discussion) In the structure of the material of both the samples treated by different methods, there are certain bundles of the micro-cracks type caused by plastic impact. The structure of sample material processed by standard method is more rough, the concentration of microcracks in the material of the sample treated by ultrasonic impact does not exceed the concentration of microcracks of the sample material processed in a standard way. (Conclusions) Changing the structure of the material of the round plate after ultrasonic treatment may not have a negative impact and does not affect the durability of the product during operation. With the correct choice of the ultrasonic treatment mode, a more uniform stress reduction can be achieved during the processing, and the quality and efficiency of the process can be improved. Ultrasonic processing increases the mechanical characteristics of the material, such as tensile strength and proportionality.

The widespread use of polymer composite materials is largely constrained by the complexity of predicting the characteristics of their stress-strain state under cyclic types of loading. Due to the poor knowledge of the behavior of polymer composite materials under this kind of loading. At present, it is rather difficult to predict the durability of polymer composite materials under static types of loading, and the available methods for materials of a crystalline structure and polymers are not always applicable to them. Insufficient theoretical and experimental data on the assessment of the stress-strain state of polymer concretes under prolonged loading. Under long-term action of cyclic loads, changes in the structure of polymer composite materials occur due to local self-heating at the tops of growing submicrocracks and the associated change in the elastic-hesteretic properties of the material. In this case, the energy of fatigue manifests itself, when the simultaneous multifactorial cyclic action of natural and force stresses leads to an effect that exceeds the total action of certain types of stresses. And, if such processes have been sufficiently studied for wood, a natural polymer material, then for artificial conglomerates, such as polymer composites, these issues require careful study. Studies of the endurance of epoxy polymer concretes were carried out on samples of prisms 100x100x400 mm according to the method developed by the authors. The formula was used to determine the minimum number of samples required to build endurance lines. The value of the cycle asymmetry coefficient was taken equal to 0.6. The value of the maximum cyclic loading was taken from 0.62 Rв with a gradual decrease. The values of the endurance limit of an epoxy composite material under cyclic loading Rв,pul = 0.43 Rв or 93.72 MPa were obtained, which makes it possible to judge the sufficient durability of this material.

The results of experimental studies and mathematical modeling of the processes of the appearance of defective states of turntable mechanisms are presented. The main criteria for the operational state of the mechanisms, including the cycle time and the value of the error of angular division, are identified. The complex of diagnostic signs for recognition of defects of mechanical and hydraulic systems of rotary table is offered.

Goal recognisers attempt to infer an agent's intentions from a sequence of observations. Approaches that adapt classical planning techniques to goal recognition have previously been proposed but, generally, they assume the initial world state is accurately defined. In this paper, a state is inaccurate if any fluent's value is unknown or incorrect. To cope with this, a cyclic Action Graph, which models the order constraints between actions, is traversed to label each node with their distance from each hypothesis goal. These distances are used to calculate the posterior goal probabilities. Our experimental results, for 15 different domains, demonstrate that our approach is unaffected by an inaccurately defined initial state.
