Batam is the third most visited city of foreign tourists due to the strategic location that closes to Singapore and Malaysia. It becomes a distinct advantage with the number of tourists visiting. In addition to marine tourism and shopping tourism, Batam has agro-tourism in the islands around Batam Island. Cafe Zore in Rempang Island's dragon fruit plantation is often visited by domestic and foreign tourists. Foreign tourists often experience difficulties in communicating with English because the employees could not speak English. It is aimed to develop employees' English skills through methods of community education and training with lecturing, discussion and demonstration techniques. The result of this training was the improvement of the English spoken ability. To sum up this PkM activity is that English communication skills are very important to welcome foreign tourists visiting and support the government to develop tourism in Batam

The Western Region Centre Against Sexual Assault (WestCASA) is located in a culturally rich and diverse Melbourne community. As a small agency, with limited resources, we wondered how we could respond to the often silent and unmet needs of victim/survivors of sexual assault from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB) communities. The Cultural Equity Program (CEP), based on principles of respect and empowerment, strongly advocates a collaborative approach and also recognises the importance of identifying structural, organisational and individual barriers preventing NESB victim/survivors from accessing support and/or counselling. Vietnamese and Filipino workers were invited to be cultural consultants to WestCASA and met regularly during 1996/1997. These meetings enabled the exchange of cultural knowledge/expertise and an opportunity to discuss sensitive cultural issues. Together we also developed a culturally and linguistically respectful community education and training strategy. WestCASA also introduced initiatives for developing a more culturally sensitive practice. The paper presents the CEP as a model of best practice. The ideas and concepts are outlined which have guided us in the design of the developmental framework. We also reflect on our learning which has been rich and inspiring, and comment on the implications for Women's Health Policy.

Mango (Mangifera indica Linn) plays a central role as fruit crop among the horticultural fruits in Mali. Mali is among the largest mango producers in West Africa and among the fastest growing mango exporters in the world. The volume of mangoes produced is estimated at 575000 tons per year. Mango production is an important socio-economic activity in Mali, providing employment in rural areas and income through exportation. The study focused on marketing channels of mango famers in Mali. The secondary data were used to investigate marketing channels of mango in Mali. This paper consists of three parts. In the first part, the socio-economic characteristics of mango farmers in Mali were explained. In the second part, information about the development of Mango production and trade in Mali was given. In the third part, marketing channels of Mango farmers were examined. In general, it is difficult to say that Mango marketing channels operate effectively in Mali. The ineffectiveness of marketing channels occurs mostly at the local market level. It is important to strengthen the marketing infrastructure for Mango's marketing channels in Mali to be more effective. The government of Mali needs to implement a special incentive program, especially for wholesalers, who play an important role in increasing post-harvest losses. There is a need for financial support and training of wholesalers during the transportation, storage and processing of fresh mango. It is also important to extend these supports for mango producers.

This research is motivated by the problems that arise from the implementation of the strategy of tourism development and a creative economy in Pisang Island of Pesisir Barat District, Lampung Province. The purpose of this research is to analyze the synergy between various parties in the development of marine tourism in Pisang Island. The research uses descriptive and qualitative approaches. The data collection techniques in use include interviews, documentation, and observation. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that the strategy of marine tourism development in Pisang Island was not well implemented as a result of the lack of co-operation between government, society, and investors. The government was the pioneer of the construction of facilities, in both the main facilities and infrastructure, for potential investors who would invest their capital. As a result of this research, the recommendations to be made are that local governments should increase extension activities (such as training and community education) to create community awareness. Furthermore, private sectors could invest their capital by pioneering the development of facilities that do not yet exist needed near tourism attractions.

India’s economic journey has seen many ups and downs since 3,500 BC. It has become the third largest economy in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) in purchasing power parity (PPP). It has the second largest English-speaking population after the United States. India has successfully built its knowledge-based industry with software exports being its primary product. The Government has taken aggressive steps to move toward a cashless transaction society by driving digitization. It has de-monetized the currency in an attempt to eradicate corruption and to provide an alternate platform for electronic payments. Sector-wide policy intervention by the Government, intended to drive economic growth, may create a completely new growth story. Its large consumer base is an attractive market, and demographic diversity is a competitive advantage. India is the fastest growing emerging economy in the world with a population of 1.3 billion.

Setokok island beach is one of representative destinations in supporting the marine tourism area in Batam. The strategic location of Batam, which is close to neighboring Singapore and Malaysia, is a distinct advantage for this island, with many foreign tourists coming and going on vacation. The phenomena found that the coast guards and people around who should be directly involved in communicating with foreign visitors couldn’t hardly communicate using English at all. The impact of that problem would narrow down the opportunity for coast guards to get additional benefits from this strategic situation. Therefore, the community team took the initiative to provide an English conversations training for coast guards, MSMEs, photographer services, managers, and people around the coast. The method taught was in the form of guidance and practice of English conversations according to the needs and conditions of the training participants. The materials given were in the form of greeting, directing, asking and answering questions, asking for clarification, offering, persuading, and daily vocabulary. The results obtained through community service at Pantai Setokok could be seen from the ability of the speaking conversation practice skills, the addition of vocabulary related to the beach, and the motivation of self-confidence using English.
