Parenting has a very important role in the growth and development of children. This paper examines the application of parenting education for Indonesians abroad. This activity involved 14 participants from the Indonesian School of Davao, Philippines. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which is carried out in a participatory manner with the aim of encouraging changes in the living conditions of participants for the better. The implementation of parenting education in the digital era uses synchronous modes through video conference platforms and asynchronous through the use of websites. The results of this activity showed a positive response from the participants and shared perceptions regarding the importance of care in families and schools, especially for the development of children's character.

Abstract Background Compared to urban children, children living in rural areas of most countries, including China, are at higher risk of suffering unintentional injuries. Most proven injury prevention interventions, however, are rarely implemented in rural China due to lack of resources. Mobile health interventions are low-cost and easy-to-implement, facilitating implementing injury prevention in resource-limited areas (e.g., rural areas). This study is designed and implemented to examine the effectiveness of an app-based intervention for unintentional injury prevention among rural preschoolers in China. Methods A single-blind, 18-month, parallel-group cluster randomized controlled trial with 1:1 allocation ratio will be implemented in 2 rural areas of China (Yang County, Shaanxi Province, and Shicheng County, Jiangxi Province). In total, at least 3508 rural caregivers of preschoolers aged 3–6 years old who own a smartphone will be recruited from 24 preschools. Clusters will be randomized at the preschool level and allocated to the control group (receiving routine school-based education plus app-based parenting education excluding unintentional injury prevention) or the intervention group (receiving routine school-based education plus app-based parenting education including unintentional injury prevention). External support strategies will be adopted by local partners to minimize user fatigue, non-compliance, and attrition. Data collection will be conducted at baseline and then every 3 months during the 18-month follow-up time period. Intention-to-treat data analysis will be implemented. Missing values will be imputed by using the Expectation Maximization algorithm. Generalized estimating equation will test the overall effectiveness of the app-based intervention. A per-protocol sensitivity analysis will be conducted to test the robustness of results. Subgroup analyses will follow the strategies for primary analyses. The primary outcome measure is the incidence rate of unintentional injury among preschoolers during the study period. Secondary outcome measures comprise longitudinal changes in caregiver’s attitudes, caregiver-reported supervision behaviors, and caregiver-assessed home environment safety surrounding child unintentional injury prevention in the last week using a standardized audit instrument. Discussion The app-based intervention is expected to be feasible and effective over the 18-month intervention period. If the app is demonstrated effective as hypothesized, we will initiate processes to generalize and popularize it broadly to rural child caregivers across China. Trial registration ChiCTR2000037606, registered on August 29, 2020.

Parenting education activities are carried out with the theme of realizing an active and fun study from home, as a mentoring activity for teachers and parents of children. Complaints of parents when accompanying their children to study at home, became the main basis for carrying out these parenting activities. Many parents feel overwhelmed to build children's enthusiasm in learning and completing the tasks given by the teacher. This condition bring out the initiative to provide assistance to teachers in providing parenting education activity material to children's parents and also directly provide material about the study from home method in parenting education activities carried out at RA Al Hidayah Kapongan Situbondo, so that even though learning activities were carried out at home , the children are still enthusiastic to do it actively and fun. The most important thing in this mentoring activity is to bring back the essence of parents/mothers as madrasas for their children, so that parents can hone, love, and nurture their children well. In the end, a nation will be born as khaira ummah who is anfauhum linnas.

Prevention-focused parenting education programs (P-FPEPs) provide knowledge and support to parents to strengthen parent–child relationships, enhance parental and family well-being, and promote healthy child development. The positive impact of such programs on child health and development is well documented. Yet, how P-FPEPs influence parents remains unclear. The objective of this study was to explore parental perceptions of changes associated with participation in a P-FPEP. We analyzed data using interpretive description with qualitative responses from 459 parents who participated in nine different P-FPEPs in a large Canadian city. Participation in a P-FPEP changed parents’ relationships with themselves, their children, their partners, and their community. Participants’ relationship with themselves as parents changed as they recognized the value of self-care without guilt, gained knowledge of typical child development, and developed greater confidence in their parenting. Positive changes in participants’ relationships with their children were facilitated by better understanding the perspective of the child, improving communication, feeling more connected to their child, and changing parenting behavior. For many participants, the relationship with their partner improved when they learned about different parenting styles and began communicating more openly. Participants’ relationships with the larger community were strengthened as they experienced a sense of normalization of their parenting experiences, developed connections with other parents, and learned about community resources. Independent of any specific program curriculum or structure, change associated with P-FPEPs focused on how a shift in understanding and attitudes changed relationships and consequently changed parenting behavior.
