<p><em>Medan is part of North Sumatra Province. The prevalence of undernutrition and malnutrition in Medan in 2013 was 19.3%, consisting of 4.2% malnutrition and 15.1% malnutrition. The prevalence rate is close to the national figure, which is 19.6%. Based on the 2015 MDGs target, the prevalence of malnutrition and children under five is 15.5%, this prevalence rate is included in the high category. The method used in this community service is counseling, demonstration and measurement of nutritional status. held on 6, 12 and 24 February 2020 in Rugemuk Village. The result of the service, namely counseling was carried out 3 times. It was conducted once at the Puskesmas Rugemuk Village, 2 times at the Posyandu Hamlet 1 and Hamlet III in Rugemuk Village, Pantai Labu District. From the results of the intervention and observations made, there are several children in Rugemuk Village whose nutritional status is less. Counseling is not only carried out at the Posyandu, but also students conduct counseling at the Rugemuk Village Health Center, Dusun II. Participants seemed satisfied with the holding of nutrition counseling with the theme according to the counseling target. Participants seemed enthusiastic when participating in nutrition counseling activities for each target group. The conclusion in this service is that intervention activities carried out to solve problems are counseling to the community as well as data collection and measurement of height and weight in children. All activities are carried out well and smoothly, outreach to the community as well as data collection and measurement of children's height and weight.</em><em></em></p>

Background: Nutrition counseling in breast cancer (BC) patients show long-term adherence to a dietary pattern and effects on nutritional status and quality of life (QOL).Objective : We evaluated the effects of nutrition counseling for nutrients intake dan nutritional status improvement among breast cancer patients.Material and Methods: This research was conducted in a Pre-experimental design; one group pretest-postest design was conducted on 45 BC patients who underwent radiotherapy for five weeks in the Radiotherapy Unit, dr. Sardjito Hospital, Indonesia. Nutrition counseling was demonstrated by trained fieldworkers to 45 participants using a nutrition booklet for BC patients and a food model as an intervention technique. Continuous nutrition counseling was given three times: weeks 1, 3, and 5 of radiotherapy. We examined anthropometry, biochemical, physical, dietary, and Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) questionnaire to obtain nutritional status.Results: Most of the participants had a body mass index (BMI) ≥25 kg/m2 (62.2%). After the participants were receiving nutrition counseling, there were increases in intake of energy, protein, carbohydrate, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E amounted 124.54 kcal, 8.12 g (p=0.01), 5.84 g, 234.43 mg, 0.042 mg, and 0.44 mg, respectively. Intake of fruits and vegetables improved on the first, third, and fifth week (1.44, 2.36, and 4.03 portion/day, respectively) (p=0.001). Handgrip strength (HGS) showed slight improvement (p=0.081). However, HGS ameliorated from 15.85 kgs in the early to 16.97 kgs in the end stage of therapy. Bodyweight decreased 0.28 kg; however, there are no changes in PG-SGA score, hemoglobin (Hb), and albumin levels.Conclusion: Nutrition counseling improves patients’ nutrition intake despite there is no significant alteration in nutritional status. In addition, nutrition counseling for breast cancer patients during radiotherapy is essential to maintain and improve nutrient intake and nutritional status. In the long-term period, it might be affected to improve quality of life.

BACKGROUND: Athletes’ achievements require the support of sports science and technology. One of the supporting sciences is sports nutrition services by fulfilling athlete nutrition through foodservice and nutrition education in nutrition counseling or nutrition counseling according to the needs and conditions of athletes. AIM: This study aims to determine the effect of nutrition education on nutritional knowledge and macronutrient intake in Muay Thai athletes in Cimahi city. METHODS: This type of research is a Quasi experiment by applying a one group pre- and post-test design: Nutrition education using leaflets. The sample is Muay Thai athletes in Cimahi city who are actively practicing at the Empire Muaythai Camp as many as ten people. Data were collected by filling in the respondent’s characteristics, knowledge of nutrition, and intake of macronutrients. RESULTS: Based on the Wilcoxon test, it was found that there was an effect of providing nutrition education using leaflets on nutritional knowledge (p = 0.005) and protein intake (p = 0.047). CONCLUSION: It is recommended that regular and periodic nutrition education be given to athletes and coaches as well as collaborate with nutritionists regarding nutritional fulfillment for athletes to increase macronutrient intake so that the performance of Muay Thai athletes in Cimahi city is optimal.

ABSTRACTBackground: Malnutrition is a nutritional problem in children under five that still occurs today, including in Indonesia. East Java is one of the province that contributes quite a lot of malnourished children under five. Long-term malnutrition will impact the quality of human resources.Objective: To analyze the relationship between providing balanced nutrition counseling with the increase of mother’s knowledge to prevent malnutrition.Methods: The method used in this study is Quasi Experiment with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique is the total sampling method, the sample are all mothers who have children under five in Mojo Village, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency as many as 42 people. Mojo Village was selectedpurposively. The dependent T-test was used to measure the differences of the mother’s knowledge level before and after the education being given. The response rate of this study is 71.4%.Results: The results showed that at the beginning of the session before the counseling being given, 50% of mothers had good knowledge, sufficient knowledge 40%, and lacked knowledge 10%. After the counseling was carried out, 60% of mothers had good knowledge and sufficient knowledge 40%. The mean score before counseling was 67.33 ± 15.30 and after counseling, it changed to 72.00 ± 9.90 (P <0.05).Conclusion: The provision of balanced nutrition counseling in Mojo Village is significantly associated with the increase of mother’s knowledge to prevent malnutrition. The Nutritionist in Puskesmas and Posyandu cadres have an important role in providing nutrition education to mothers to prevent malnutrition.Keywords: balanced nutrition, counseling, knowledge, malnutrition

In nutrition science known five kinds of nutrients, namely carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, and vitamins. The purpose of this research aims to know the influence of balanced nutrition counseling on knowledge and attitudes in the community during the new normal in the village temmappaduae District Marussu Maros district. This type of research using Quasi Experimental design of this study using Pretest Group Design Posttest observations were conducted at the beginning (pretest) and end of activity (posstest). The rate of change in respondents was seen by comparing the pretest results with the posstest. The population in this study was the community in Sinar Griya Cendana Housing, as many as 250 families and sampling techniques using purposive sampling techniques. Measurements are performed using questionnaire sheets. The results showed that there was an increase in knowledge and attitude of balanced nutrition counseling before and after being given balanced nutrition counseling. Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test statistical test results show that balanced nutrition counseling has a significant influence on the knowledge and attitude of balanced nutrition counseling in the community of sandalwood rays aimed at results (p<0.05). Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is an influence of balanced nutrition counseling on the knowledge and attitudes of the community during the new normal in dessa temmappaduae Marussu Subdistrict Maros. ABSTRAK Dalam ilmu gizi dikenal lima macam zat gizi, yaitu karbohidrat, lemak, protein, mineral, dan vitamin. Tujuan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penyuluhan gizi seimbang terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap pada masyarakat selama new normal di desa temmappaduae kecamatan Marussu kabupaten Maros. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan Quasi Eksperiment desain penelitian ini menggunakan Desain Grup Pretest Posttest observasi dilakukan pada awal (pretest) dan akhir kegiata (posstest). Tingkat perubahan responden dilihat dengan membandingkan antara hasil pretest dengan posstest. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah masyarakat di Perumahan Sinar Griya Cendana, sebanyak 250 kk dan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan lembar kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap penyuluhan gizi seimbang sebelum dan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan gizi seimbang. Hasil uji statistik Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan gizi seimbang memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap penyuluhan gizi seimbang pada masyarakat sinar griya cendana yang ditujukan dengan hasil (p<0,05). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penyuluhan gizi seimbang terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat selama new normal di dessa temmappaduae Kecamatan Marussu Kabupaten Maros.
