Abstract In the style of Lindström’s theorem for classical first-order logic, this article characterizes propositional bi-intuitionistic logic as the maximal (with respect to expressive power) abstract logic satisfying a certain form of compactness, the Tarski union property and preservation under bi-asimulations. Since bi-intuitionistic logic introduces new complexities in the intuitionistic setting by adding the analogue of a backwards looking modality, the present paper constitutes a non-trivial modification of the previous work done by the authors for intuitionistic logic (Badia and Olkhovikov, 2020, Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic, 61, 11–30).

Abstract. Logic from the model of intuitive morality and exemplars (MIME) suggests that narrative media emphasizing moral intuitions can increase the salience of those intuitions in audiences. To date, support for this logic has been limited to adults. Across two studies, the present research tested MIME predictions in early adolescents (ages 10–14). The salience of care, fairness, loyalty, and authority intuitions was manipulated in a pilot study with verbal prompts ( N = 87) and in the main study with a comic book ( N = 107). In both studies, intuition salience was measured after induction. The pilot study demonstrated that exposure to verbal prompts emphasizing care, fairness, and loyalty increased the salience of their respective intuitions. The main study showed that exposure to comic books emphasizing all four separate intuitions increased salience of their respective intuitions in early adolescents. Results are discussed in terms of relevance for the MIME and understanding narrative media’s influence on children’s moral judgments.

The aim of the article is the study of presumable and real causes of the crisis, the factors that cause it, its signs and consequences that deteriorate the normal conditions of the enterprise functioning. Research methods used in the process of writing the work include general and special methods. From general research methods the following were used: deduction (when constructing the structure of work in the logical interconnectedness and unity, as well as the interdependence of its components), induction (when forming general conclusions of the study), abstract logic and synthesis (when clarifying the interpretations of the categorical tools of crisis management), analysis (in the development of classifications of crisis phenomena, in the study of trends in restaurants crisis management, in processing the results). Special methods used include factor analysis, computational analysis and method of comparisons, tabular and graphic, economic and statistical correlation analysis, forecasting methods (in justifying the prospects of institutions) restaurant business after the cessation of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic) and other methods of studying economic and managerial processes and phenomena. This paper investigates the system of restaurant crisis management and defines its essence and main components. It also considers necessity and relevance of crisis diagnostics and monitoring of restaurants activities and operations during different crisis lifecycle stages. The present work includes a comparison of foreign and Ukrainian experience, as well as the practices of crisis management and reorganization, state regulation in the realm of bankruptcy. It establishes the main external factors of unprofitable activity of restaurant establishments. It determines that the innovation policy in the crisis management process is one of the main tools that contributes to the exit of the establishments under study from the crisis and increase their competitive positions in the market. The current study presents a generalized sequence of crisis management strategic goals implementation. It identifies the phases of the crisis development and the stages of the crisis lifecycle in the restaurant business. It shows the developed structural organisation of restaurant establishments under the influence of the anti-crisis action program. Also, it presents specially developed proposals to reduce electricity costs in the restaurant business. This research offers motivational components that are recommended for introduction into the establishments activities and presents the structural model of restaurants activity crisis management system.

Abstract This article takes the presentation of mechanical and informatic models in Samuel Delany's Neveryóna as an occasion to examine the relations of force, abstraction, information, and differential valuation that constitute racial capitalism. In order to do this, the article considers the continuities and divergences between the principles those models demonstrate, the lessons on value and economic determination that precede them, and Delany's subsequent presentation of surplus populations, intricated “free” and slave labor, and the modes of racialized differentiation that shape and are shaped in the interstices of those social formations. In Delany's sword-and-sorcery bildungsroman, the models illustrate the abstract logic of value, show that logic to be informatic in character, and point toward a dialectical relationship between this informatic logic and the concrete practices of dispossession that produce and operate through ascriptive race and gender regimes. Value's abstract operations are too often understood to be incommensurable with such regimes, yet Delany's presentation deploys the language and processes associated with informatics to reveal an essential relationship between the abstract network that results from value's mediating function and the modes of ascription and concrete violence that, as a result of such mediation, tend to be associated with precapitalist or noncapitalist social formations.

Abstract. To identify the most significant demotivators of personnel at enterprises, to develop measures aimed at neutralizing demotivators at enterprises, increase the integrated rate of staff activation, increase the efficiency of enterprise management.  In the process of writing the work were used such research methods: general and special. From the general science were used the following methods: deduction (in constructing the structure of levers of influence on the formation of the mechanism of evaluation, motivation, and stimulation of enterprise personnel), induction, abstract logic and synthesis, analysis (in analyzing the dynamics of the integrated indicator of staff activation). From the special methods: factor analysis (in the study of corrective measures to reduce demotivators and increase the integrated rate of staff activation in the enterprise), calculation and design and comparison method, tabular and graphical, economic and statistical, correlation analysis, forecasting methods and other methods of economics and management processes and phenomena. The paper investigates the problems that may arise in the evaluation, motivation, and stimulation of staff identified demotivators of staff work. Four stages of the staff activation system were also considered. The coefficients at the expense of which the level of the actual state of group indicators of personnel activation at the enterprise is calculated are determined. A list of recommended corrective measures to increase the integrated indicator and reduce the level of demotivator impact on enterprises. It is established that the general purpose of the mechanism of evaluation, motivation and stimulation of personnel should be the result of coincidence of goals and interests of employees with the goals and interests of the enterprise, increase staff productivity, encourage employees to take initiative in solving both personal and enterprise problems atmosphere among subordinates, meeting the basic needs of staff, preventing overwork. The proposed methodology can be used as a methodological basis for solving problems of strategic management of the enterprise and its personnel. Keywords: staff motivation, labor demotivators, motivation assessment mechanism, staff activation, adjusting measures to reduce demotivators, integrated group indicators, labor activity. The article deals with the question of methods for describing lexical semantics. Special attention is paid to symbols — linguistic signs expressing the worldview of culture. The relevance of the study is due to the need to develop an objective description methodology that meets both modern concepts of the semantics of a word and the nature of a symbol. A review of modern concepts of the word meaning is carried out. The question is raised about the possibility of describing the semantics of a symbol based on the analysis of the contextual environment of a linguistic sign. Attention is paid to cases of direct, figurative, symbolic and regular arbitrary use of the word. The author’s development of a methodology for qualitative and quantitative content analysis of a representative sample of texts in describing the semantics of a symbol is presented. The classification of the levels of analysis of the composition of words that form the context of the use of the symbol is proposed. The author dwells on the stages and procedures for extracting the semantics of a symbol from the context in which it is used. The results of a comparative analysis of the semantics of the WAY and ROAD symbols in the language of Russian rock poetry are presented. It is proved that the presented methodology allows describing the semantics of a symbol, relying not on the abstract logic of the relationship of concepts, but on the semantic relations fixed in the text. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that this technique allows us to consider a symbol not as an occasional, but as a linguistic unit, regularly reproduced by the carriers of the corresponding representations.

Between Aristotle and Hegel, none of the major Western philosophers were married. Is abstract thinking, at its highest, incompatible with the messiness of everyday life? At the age of nineteen, Isaiah Berlin said he was ‘vowed to eternal celibacy’. Was there a connection between his sexual abstinence and his choice of analytical philosophy as a career? During World War II he fell in love with the gentile Patricia de Bendern; this frustrating affair coincided with Berlin’s shift from abstract logic to the history of ideas. In 1956 he took a Jewish bride, Aline Halban. His personal history reflects difficulties in choosing between endogamy and exogamy, Zionism and the diaspora, negative and positive liberty.

The chapter focuses on two basic objectives: a) to introduce and qualitatively examine the concept of logically living system as abstract prototype for any possible auto-poietic system and b) to analyse the co-evolution as matrix of autopoieticity of any system. To this end, based on primitive concepts as property, relationships, network, and entropy, the chapter defines an abstract “logic machine” which is named logically living system. Here, the focus of research is directed to prove that such a “logic machine” could deliver any auto-poietic system (or process, after the case) so that it is functioning as a generative grammar (as syntax) in this context. Regarding the co-evolution linked to auto-poieticity, the chapter develops discussions on some paired concepts as memes vs. semes, natural vs. institutional, or system vs. network. Finally, the chapter approaches five kinds of auto-poietic systems as generated by the “logic machine” proposed: biological, social, psychic, theory, and paradigm.
