The objective was to understand the experience of parents in caring for children with disabilities. The Grounded Theory was adopted as a methodological framework, 9 parents of children and adults with intellectual or multiple disabilities were interviewed, between August/2015 and June/2016. The categories were obtained: Pre, peri, post-natal aspects, Posture assumed by the professional, Go to Fight! and Another world. It is, therefore, a parenting that is configured as these parents enter the Another world, which leads them to adjust their practices and beliefs about their child, about themselves and the universe of disability, sometimes under a perception of disability as a social disadvantage and incapacity, having as an intervening factor the Posture assumed by the professional, thus knowing these experiences from the GT allows: the improvement of care practices for these parents and their children, the planning of actions psychoeducational from a social perspective of disability in order to empower them and guide them about aspects of their children's development, enabling a look beyond the diagnosis and a more positive family adaptation.

Background and Aim: With the prolonged survival time of patients with liver cancer, these families may face tremendous pressure and development dilemmas that can easily lead to family adaptation crises. Correspondingly, family adaptation crises adversely affect the quality of life of patients and family members. Basing on McCubbin's resilience model of family stress, adjustment, and adaptation, and considering the key factors affecting family resilience based on a review of literature, this study involved a construction of a family adaptation influencing factors model in Chinese liver cancer patients, which was then verified and revised. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between August and December 2020. Using convenience sampling, we selected 265 liver cancer families from the liver tumor center of a teaching hospital affiliated with a university in Shanghai, China. Data from 252 patients with liver cancer and their caregivers were used to identify the factors and pathways associated with family adaptation. The relationships were modeled using structural equations. Results: A total of 265 liver cancer families participated in the survey, and 252 valid questionnaires were returned, with a response rate of 95.09%. The pathway regression coefficients of six factors (family burden, individual resilience, family problem-solving and coping, inner family support, outer family social support, and family function) in the model were found to be statistically significant (P < 0.05), indicating that all of them were significantly associated with family adaptation. Among them, inner family support, outer family social support, and family function were direct influencing factors, while the others were indirect. The path coefficients of the total effect of the determinants on family adaptation were as follows (from largest to smallest): individual resilience (0.562), family function (0.483), outer family social support (0.345), family burden (−0.300), inner family support (0.293), family problem-solving and coping (0.127).Conclusions: Our findings suggest that clinical nurses should not only pay particular attention to direct influencing factors, develop strategies to strengthen the overall family function, encourage patients and caregivers to utilize inner family and outer family social support, but should also consider indirect influence factors, focus on the vital role of the individual, and promote patients' and caregivers' personal and family coping ability.

Purpose. The aim of the article is theoretical and empirical study of the indicators of marital satisfaction in young families in connection with the parameters of emotional intelligence.Methods. The following questionnaires were used for the research: the scale of family adaptation and cohesion (D. Olson, J. Porter, I. Lavi), the questionnaire “Satisfaction with marriage” (V. Stolin, T. Romanova, G. Butenko), the scale of marital satisfaction (D. Olson), the questionnaire “Emotional Intelligence” by D. Lucin and the questionnaire “Emotional Intelligence”, J. Mayer – P. Selovey – D. Caruso. Methods of processing empirical data were: descriptive analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis, comparative analysis by Kraskel-Wallis.Results. The study involved 110 married people who are in the young family stage. It was found that the marital satisfaction of the subjects varies from medium to high. Relationships are characterized by mergers, loyalty, the desire for intimacy in the future, as well as the flexibility of the system of rules. It has been found that there is a significant correlation between subjective well-being in a marriage and the level of emotional intelligence. People who are better able to perceive, identify and evaluate emotions, as well as those who are able to recognize emotions, will have a higher level of marital satisfaction. Marital satisfaction rates are significantly higher in subjects with a medium level of emotional intelligence, but do not differ in subjects with low and high levels of EI.Conclusions. The study proved that the level of emotional intelligence is a significant correlate of marital satisfaction. Higher satisfaction rates are inherent in individuals who evaluate their own ideas about the ability to understand and manage emotions, both their own and others’, as average. It has been shown that influencing the emotional intelligence of young families can influence more realistic expectations of marital relationships and thus increase marital satisfaction, which is an important prognostic factor in maintaining a family.Key words: marital satisfaction, emotional competence, family adaptation, family cohesion, statistical analysis.
